- How To Install an MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)
$199.99 (each)FREE Shipping
Hey everyone, Justin from AmericanMuscle.com checking out a very cool spoiler option from MMD, I’m talking about the MMD ducktail spoiler available unpainted or pre painted for all 2010 and newer Mustangs. MMD is no doubt one of the leaders in producing cool and stylish aftermarket appearance parts for your Mustang, designed to separate your ride from the rest. If you want to stay up to date with all the latest MMD parts for your Mustang, just subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking on the link below if you haven’t done so already. Alright so there are plenty of options for aftermarket spoilers for your S197, and it really all depends on what you’re going for styling wise, MMD’s ducktail spoiler is based off the 67-69 Shelby Mustangs, which feature that really cool iconic kick up in the rear which gave the car a much more aggressive look. The MMD ducktail spoiler is slightly different to other ducktail options I’ve seen and here’s why, first up it’s a one piece spoiler as opposed to being a three piece, which it’s going to look much better on the rear end of the car, it’s going to flow nicely with the roundness of the rear end, and it will install slightly easier. Even though a traditional ducktail spoiler does stick straight up and down, you’ll see the MMD spoiler features more of an angle, which in my opinion again flows really well with the lines of the S197. As I mentioned in the beginning you do have the option to pick this spoiler up pre painted to match your ride, the pre painted option does get sprayed right here in our state of the art paint booth, using the same base and clear coat that Ford uses on their Mustangs, so of course you can expect a perfect color match right out of the box, and more importantly it’s going to save you the hassle of having to get this part painted yourself. Of course if you do have a paint hookup you can always pick up the unpainted version here in front of me for a few bucks less. If you want a complete breakdown of all the colors available for this spoiler, just click the link below to head back to the product page if you’re not there already. The nice thing with the MMD spoiler is if you already have a factory spoiler installed on your ride, the new MMD spoiler will install using those existing holes, on the other hand if you don’t have a factory spoiler, you will need to drill a couple holes but no big deal whatsoever as long as you take your time, follow the detailed instructions, and use the included drilling template. Either way, figure about an hour if you don’t have to drill maybe 2 hours if you do, but if you do get jammed up you can always give us a call or shoot us an email should you need any help. So if you’re looking for an aggressive spoiler option that flows very well with the lines of the newer S197, all with the convenience of having a pre painted part, then you have to check out MMD’s ducktail spoiler available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Let me just say, this spoiler looks awesome on my Coyote! It looks so much better than than the oem spoiler. Was going to go with the gt500 spoiler but seeing that is everyone’s main choice I wanted to go a different way. Boy, am I glad I did.Helpful (1)

If your looking to purchase a rear spoiler for your GT, get this one! The lines of your trunk compliment this spoiler perfectly. Very aggressive styling yet not overstated like the GT500 spoiler IMO. Install was very easy due my GT came equipped w/a factory spoiler. My GT is white so I ordered a blk Ducktail along w/the glass roof and blk painted hood vents I couldn’t be happier w/the overall aggressive look. Thanks AM!Helpful (0)

Excellent fit, looks great.
I bought the pre-painted spoiler and have no regrets. The paint was flawless and it came in perfect thanks to the excellent job they did of packaging it. The included instructions were very helpful. The hardest part of the install was getting the factory spoiler off. The glue they use from the factory is very tough to remove and was by far the longest part of the install process. Overall I'm very pleased with the MMD Ducktail Spoiler.Helpful (0)

Worth every penny!
This has been hands down the easiest and best exterior mod I’ve done. The paint finish is great, install was maybe 30 minutes. Really improves the rear end of the car, the stock spoiler just has to go. Check out the pic!Helpful (0)

I think the ducktail best accents the rear end out of the ones on here. I really dig the Shelby wing too but everyone’s already got it.. the finish was excellent. Install was about 30 minutes of trying to remove old sticky tape 5 minutes of putting four screws in. Do not use too much alcohol, it ruined the finish my unpainted mm tail light bezels. Also there are small gaps on the ends that look intentional but it bothers me a little, but the finish is flawless and was packed and shipped well. Worth every pennyHelpful (0)

This product was absolutely perfect. Was packaged well and fit the car perfectly. The hardest part of installing the spoiler was removing the factory 3M tape from the OEM spoilerHelpful (0)

Hello I have a 2012 GT with the OEM spoiler... will I have to drill additional holes for this spoiler or will they just use the existing holes ?
As long as it is the OEM lip spoiler, it will use the existing holes.
I have a 2010 GT Premium. Will the holes line up? And will the old ones be covered?
The existing holes will not be covered, nor will they be re-used for the install of this spoiler.
I have a 2014 v6 and am looking for a wing/spoiler but my mustang didn't come with one. Does it come with a template to install? so i know where to drill holes
The kit does come with a "template" and instructions as to how to use it to drill the holes. The "template" are actually strips of paper that you use by first placing the spoiler where you want it on your trunk (so that it is aligned), then taping the strips down once you are satisfied with the looks of the spoiler. There are other templates that you can find online with specific measurements as well if you need a little more precision.
I have a 14 gt with the stock OEM rear spoiler, car is deep impact blue with silver racing stripes. I'm thinking about putting this spoiler in either gloss black or carbon fiber, problem is I bought car used so I don't know where the racing stripes came from so I won't be able to put stripes on a new spoiler, which is why either the gloss black or carbon fiber spoiler with no stripes. I need some input on this.
Is the adhesive necessary to install or will it be fine to just secure using the provided screws ?
We highly recommend the 3M double sided adhesive tape as this will provide an extra level of security along with the screws when installing the spoiler.
Hello, There are not any torque specs available so the recommendation is to tighten it down snug.
Unfortunately the MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All) is not compatible with rear camera equipped vehicles. To use this spoiler, it would cancel out the use of the rear camera.
The spoiler comes with instructions, as well as few a strips of paper to use as a template to help you with drilling. There are also videos online that show you how to use the template-strips properly. I personally didn't have to use them as I had the OEM spoiler, but it was nice to see that they were included nonetheless.
The MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Unpainted (10-14 All) will arrive in the plain grey you see it presented as in the product pictures.
It can work on the spoiler but you would have to contact your local body shop for them to cut then place the camera into it. This will require a lot of customer work for this to make this happen.
Your question actually made me wonder the same thing, so I went into my garage and measured. At the center point (highest point), it is 4.5 inches high. You can definitely see it in your rear view mirror more so than the the OEM "flat" spoiler, but you still have plenty of room to see behind you.
This spoiler looks great and it will not get in the way of you looking out of the rear window. Remember you always have your side view ....
I DID THIS WITH MY 2014 GT, IT LOOKS GREAT.
I have a 2013 GT Premium with the premium/CS spoiler and I purchased this MMD spoiler only to find out there are additional holes drilled for the premium/CS spoiler. The MMD spoiler wouldn't cover those holes. I end up buying the Roush spoiler, and it did cover the existing holes.
The MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Unpainted (10-14 All) will not cover the factory holes from a CS spoiler.
