    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone, Justin from AmericanMuscle.com checking out a very cool spoiler option from MMD, I’m talking about the MMD ducktail spoiler available unpainted or pre painted for all 2010 and newer Mustangs. MMD is no doubt one of the leaders in producing cool and stylish aftermarket appearance parts for your Mustang, designed to separate your ride from the rest. If you want to stay up to date with all the latest MMD parts for your Mustang, just subscribe to our YouTube channel by clicking on the link below if you haven’t done so already. Alright so there are plenty of options for aftermarket spoilers for your S197, and it really all depends on what you’re going for styling wise, MMD’s ducktail spoiler is based off the 67-69 Shelby Mustangs, which feature that really cool iconic kick up in the rear which gave the car a much more aggressive look. The MMD ducktail spoiler is slightly different to other ducktail options I’ve seen and here’s why, first up it’s a one piece spoiler as opposed to being a three piece, which it’s going to look much better on the rear end of the car, it’s going to flow nicely with the roundness of the rear end, and it will install slightly easier. Even though a traditional ducktail spoiler does stick straight up and down, you’ll see the MMD spoiler features more of an angle, which in my opinion again flows really well with the lines of the S197. As I mentioned in the beginning you do have the option to pick this spoiler up pre painted to match your ride, the pre painted option does get sprayed right here in our state of the art paint booth, using the same base and clear coat that Ford uses on their Mustangs, so of course you can expect a perfect color match right out of the box, and more importantly it’s going to save you the hassle of having to get this part painted yourself. Of course if you do have a paint hookup you can always pick up the unpainted version here in front of me for a few bucks less. If you want a complete breakdown of all the colors available for this spoiler, just click the link below to head back to the product page if you’re not there already. The nice thing with the MMD spoiler is if you already have a factory spoiler installed on your ride, the new MMD spoiler will install using those existing holes, on the other hand if you don’t have a factory spoiler, you will need to drill a couple holes but no big deal whatsoever as long as you take your time, follow the detailed instructions, and use the included drilling template. Either way, figure about an hour if you don’t have to drill maybe 2 hours if you do, but if you do get jammed up you can always give us a call or shoot us an email should you need any help. So if you’re looking for an aggressive spoiler option that flows very well with the lines of the newer S197, all with the convenience of having a pre painted part, then you have to check out MMD’s ducktail spoiler available right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

I have a 2014 v6 and am looking for a wing/spoiler but my mustang didn't come with one. Does it come with a template to install? so i know where to drill holes

    • The kit does come with a "template" and instructions as to how to use it to drill the holes. The "template" are actually strips of paper that you use by first placing the spoiler where you want it on your trunk (so that it is aligned), then taping the strips down once you are satisfied with the looks of the spoiler. There are other templates that you can find online with specific measurements as well if you need a little more precision.

I have a 2010 GT Premium. Will the holes line up? And will the old ones be covered?

    • The existing holes will not be covered, nor will they be re-used for the install of this spoiler.

Are there torque specs on this spoiler or tight and snug is good?

    • Hello, There are not any torque specs available so the recommendation is to tighten it down snug.

Is this spoiler compatible with the factory backup cameras at all? I want this because it's taller and has more of an aggressive look but I'd be torn on this if there wasn't a way to port the backup camera to this.

    • Unfortunately the MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All) is not compatible with rear camera equipped vehicles. To use this spoiler, it would cancel out the use of the rear camera.

I have a 2014 , but I didn't get one with a spoiler installed .will there be instructions an a template so I can install this myself?

    • The spoiler comes with instructions, as well as few a strips of paper to use as a template to help you with drilling. There are also videos online that show you how to use the template-strips properly. I personally didn't have to use them as I had the OEM spoiler, but it was nice to see that they were included nonetheless.

Review from MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

      Looks Great! Easy Install!

Right off the bat I gotta say it was packed great with no scratches dents or any other defects which is a biggie for me. Now this is a great looking spoiler and not many people have it. I was torn between the GT/CS and GT500 spoilers but after going through photos and being in multiple mustang groups on Facebook I noticed they're way too common. If you want to be different or unique but still look great I'd say grab the MMD Ducktail. Heck, even my wife loves the spoiler even after I told her how much it was LOL. Now let's move onto the installation. Install wasnt hard it took more time prepping and liking up everything, I'm also a perfectionist so it has to be centered correctly. The instructions they give you is straight forward and simple. It's easy to do if you are good with basic hand tools such as the drill. I dont remember if the instructions mention it but putting a piece of painters tape on the top of the trunk before drilling will help keep the paint from cracking. It only took about 30 minutes tops to install it from prep to finished product. I'll be posting photos shortly since it seems to be seperate from the review section.

Review from MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

      Awesome look !

If you want your mustang to have a drag car look and get a lot of looks, this is the perfect one for you. It's not hard to install at all but be warned you can put it on slightly wrong like I almost did I sat the spoiler on top of the car instead of putting the little lip on the spoiler sitting over it but other than that no problems you can see the spoiler in the rear view mirror and under acceleration and braking you can see it move and that's very intoxicating lol recommend this to anyone not too many people tho cause you don't see that spoiler often around here LOL.

Review from MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

      Perfect fit

Installation is pretty straight forward and the fitting is perfect. A second pair of hands might come handy when aligning the part to the car without sticking the adhesive strips onto the trunk. If you used the preparation solution included, you will never get those 3M strips of the car ever again.

Great product, paint matched great, fit was good, but a little hard to line up the holes when you have the 3m tape trying to stick to the car when your lining it up but with a little patience it comes out very nice

The Ducktail Spoiler looks super on our Race Red 2012 V6. Since this had a factory spoiler, the install was extra easy. The worst part was cleaning of the old adhesive.

      Ducktail

Love the mmd ducktail spoiler , pre painted to perfect match! Removing the factory spoiler took a lot of patience. Installation of the mmd ducktail was pretty easy beside the fact that I lost one of the bolts inside trunk lid and had to take it off and do some shaking to get it back. All in all good product and definitely 1000 better than factory look!

American muscles shipping has always been on point I got my spoiler 3 days after ordering it. Instillation was a walk in the part it took some time to get the take off the deck lid from my previous spoiler but the instructions were very easy and it came out just the way I wanted it I couldn't be any happier with it.

      Good bang for your buck

The spoiler adds a very nice look to your car. It has only been on for a few days, and I have had multiple compliments. The one end came a little bent, but nothing sand paper couldn't fix. I just wished these products came a little more secure in box. The only complaint I have is the paint looks a little wavy, but I am just OCD and notice every thing.

Review from MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

Seek Help Adding This Great Looking Spoiler!

This is an incredibly nice looking spoiler that I added to my '14 V6 Mustang. It is well made and the paint match was great. The only word of caution is that my installation would have gone better if I had a helper with the final step of positioning and adding the spoiler to the rear deck. It is extremely difficult for one person to position the spoiler with the sticky tape ready to attach and then lay the spoiler on the deck and add the four attaching bolts. This took several tries before I put the plastic back on the tape and added the spoiler's first two bolts, and then pulled the tape out and seated the spoiler, and then tightened all four bolts. While doing this the spoiler got away from me leaving some long scratches on my rear deck that I am trying to polish out. Overall, this is a great looking addition to my Mustang and is highly recommended, but I should have had a helper there for the final installation. There were none there at the time.

Review from MMD Ducktail Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

      Looks great! But...

First off, the paint is perfectly matched! At least for grabber blue. The fit is excellent as well. The hardest part is actually getting the old spoiler off, If you have one. Looks great and is a good upgrade. BUT!!! My spoiler came, well I guess damaged. That is why I took off two stars. On the very tip of both sides of the spoiler, bot tips were crushed like somebody had dropped it on both sides. I left it on the car because I didn't noticed it till I put it on the car (it was pretty well packed so I didn't expect it to be damaged) and I didn't feel like taking it off. It's only noticeable up close, but because I'm a car guy, I notice it all the time and it's sad for something I paid $300 for. Reluctantly I recommend this.
