i ordered this axle. Can anyone tell me what studs i need for it to work with a 2000 mustang gt?

      • The Moser 8.8 Axles - 28 Spline 5 Lug (99-04 GT, Mach 1) should fit with any stud designed to fit with a Ford Mustang, which would include all three that we have to offer on our website. Personally, I would suggest the ARP Rear Wheel Stud - 0.625 in. Knurl (79-04 All) (Item #18249) ( But just keep in mind that the studs on our website will be longer than your average stud.

I have a 2004 GT 5-Speed. Does it use the 28 spline or the 31 spline?

      • These Moser 8.8 Axles are designed for the factory 8.8" differentials utilizing 28 splined axles. All 99-04 GT's came with 28 splined axles with the exception of the Cobra's that came with 31 splined axles.

Bent the stock axles when power adders and 10.5 wide rears came in to play this is the answer

Awesome axles for on budget builds.

I needed something new and wanted something that would last. Well with moser 28 spline axles I found it. Good durable and just all around nice. Only complaint I have is the ad says doesn't come with studs and it did. I bought a separate set just for these and ended up not needing them. Other than that this set is awesome.

          Moser Axles review

New bearings and seals, along with these axles, solved the problem of a rhythmic whining noise coming from the left rear of my 2002 GT. Sure enough the stock axle race was pitted and damaged. Excellent ground finish on new Moser bearing race. A little tight on the diameter for the ABS sensor wheel. I had to machine about .002" more out of the sensor wheels inside diameter to have any hope of shrink fitting them onto the Moser axles. Good thing I have access to a machine shop. After that the install went smooth. The axles fit perfect into my differential without any problems.

          Excellent replacement axle!

After my son put the car in a ditch, I suspected the axles to be tweaked. I priced the Ford OEM with ABS rings and found that I could pick up these from Moser and install the rings myself and save a bit of $$. These come with wheel studs already installed, so beyond the ABS rings, it's ready to go out of the box.

          Great option over stock!

My wheel bearings destroyed my OEM axles and I needed to replace them. I looked for OEM replacements but the price was close enough to these axles to warrant the upgrade. It took a HUGE amount of slop out the drive train and it wasn't just the bearings that did it. Very happy with these axles!! Just an FYI: You will need a new tone ring for the ABS but that's not an expensive peice.

Great for a mild street car!!!

I would recommend these to anyone that is playing on the track but mainly a street car. My reason is because if you plan on building a serious drag car. They do not make spools for 28 spline and so If your looking towards your car becoming a drag car 31 spline is definitely the way to go. I have launched my car with slicks and the track without a single issue just limited on my center section till i swap out to 31 spline. Definitely no complaints about the product performance at all.

          Moser 28 Spline Axles

Bought these axles to replace my weak stock axles.(one was bent). Had a shop install them. Keep in mind that you CAN use your stock ABS sensors. Just have them pressed off the old axles and pressed on the new ones. And off course with the axles i recommend changing the berrings and seals. Also Order 3 quarts of the royal purple gear oil. And you should be set. I hope these axles can hold up to some decent track launches. can wait to test them out!!!

          Great price, Great performance!!!

I bought these axles because I was switching out to 3.73 gears and wanted a stronger rear end, I have got to say this is an excellent product and I'm so happy I bought it! I have put a good 20 hard runs at the strip on these and they have not disappointed me at all! Deffinitely a great buy for anyone!!

Fit and function good. The center hub that the center hole in the wheel slides on are smaller than stock and can make lining the studs up in the center of there holes difficult. You will have to manually center them and hand tighten. Great axles other than that one little glitch. Car would not bark the tires before the install. It catches second pretty hard now. It as a more sold shift.

          Good axles

One of my stock axles was bad so I bought these. Installed ABS exciter rings from my old axles, had to use a split gear puller to get them off old axles, went on Moser axles good, but driver side fit was a little loose, the exciter ring turned to easy on the axle so I used Permatex sleeve retainer.

Good Product for Those Not Wanting 31 Spline

I bought these because my stock axles were bent from hard driving and figured for the price over stock it was worth. They look and feel alot better next to my stock axles out of the car. Install was straight forward, fitment was OK but they seem to be slightly shorter then stock. My brake rotors rubbed my caliper bracket at first until I clearanced the bracket with a grinder. Minor problem really. A little extra piece of mind when launching at the track on my 18' DRs.
