Description
High-Performance Race Distributor. The MSD Crank Trigger Distributor is engineered specifically for racing use with MSD crank trigger ignition systems, providing precise ignition timing for competitive Ford small block engines. It operates without an advance assembly or pick-up, relying entirely on the crank trigger system for ignition signals, which improves ignition accuracy and engine performance in racing conditions.
Construction and Appearance. This distributor features a polished steel shaft with a QPQ coating to reduce friction and increase durability. It incorporates a sealed ball bearing for enhanced lifespan and stability at high RPMs. The distributor comes equipped with a bronze gear optimized for race cam applications and a low-profile, Rynite-molded Ford-style distributor cap with a wire retainer to accommodate complex intake configurations and help prevent spark scatter.
Installation. This distributor requires use with MSD crank trigger and ignition control systems. It does not include an internal advance mechanism or pick-up. Installation does not typically require drilling or major modifications, but compatibility with existing crank trigger and ignition setups should be confirmed to ensure proper fit and operation.
Warranty. Comes with a manufacturer’s limited one-year warranty.
Application. Designed to fit select 5.0L Ford small block applications, including the 1979 Mustang and 1982-1995 Mustang models. Intended for race use only and not legal for street or emissions-controlled vehicles.
