      Street Performance. This cam is a good choice for the High Output (HO) 5.0 that was featured in the later Foxbody Mustangs for street performance gains with mild bolt on modifications.

      Application. The XE270HR Stage II Camshafts are designed for use in the 1986-1995 5.0L V8 Mustangs with 1.7:1 rockers. Mild modifications such as 3.20 - 3.73 gears, a larger throttle body and mass air, good heads and manifold are recommended for peak performance.

        more than meets the eye

        this is a very nice not so stable cam. but its a pretty big cam. if you have aluminum heads or any after market heads be prepared with any other installation requirements like studs, guides, roller rockers and in some cases like mine, a taller valve covers. also make sure what you valve springs are rated for.also if you have a good amount of mods piling up it would also help to get the performance chip to help the computer establish whats going on and make that extra horsepower. in conclusion very nice cam but pay attention to power range on these cams and others on the site. if you want street stable and easy going go for stage one or an e303 cam. happy modding!

        5 1993 GT - 1slow5O Installation Time: Weekend

        Great Cam

        Installed this cam along with a set of trick flow heads and track heat intake. Car pulls hard right up to red line. Sounds great at a idle just enough chop to make people turn heads at a stop light. lol Just take your time with install and read direction carefully.All in all great cam and would recomend to anyone with high flow heads and intake. Plus as always great service from American Muscle!

        Good for GT40-p heads!

        Just rebuilt my 302, along with using gt40p heads off of an 01 explorer and a gt40 intake. I had Comp select this cam for me. They told me to use 1.6:1 rockers to clear the stock pistons. This makes for .512 lift. The cam has a small lope to the idle (sounds great), makes a ton of low end torque and keeps pulling to 6K! The car still drives like stock too! Very happy with my budget setup and this cam! I will update this review once I can get the car to the track!

      Can I get away with 1.6 rockers and do I have to use a stall converter...I am also using e7 heads for the moment so would this combination work

      • This would not have a very rough idle but will have a lope to it yes.

      Will 1.7 roller rockers work with the stock bottom end or will I have to use 1.6 rockers and what vaulve spring do you recommend I have gt40p heads

      • With GT40P heads and 1.7 Roller Rockers, you will need to check piston to valve clearance. Due to production tolerances of the heads and block, as well as the aggressive nature of this cam, there is a chance that piston to valve clearance issues may be present.

      Hi, I'm using a 94 cobra 5.0L and am wondering since it has 1.7:1 rockers already, if the stock throttlebody and MAF are good enough for this cam? I believe I read that they are bigger than the GT's 5.0 TB and MAF... I haven't found another cam on here that works with 1.7 rockers.

      • The Comp Cams Stage 3+ Xtreme Energy XE270HR Camshaft will not require a new MAF or Throttle Body.

      Do I have to up grade to mass air to run the Comp cams stage 3? 1 answer
      1.7 roller rockers I have 1.7 roller rockers and am wondering if i will ba able to run this cam with stock pistons and still clear i know it says for 1.7 but there is also a comment about running a 1.6 for clearence i wouldnt want to find out the hard way when i try to turn it over by hand the first time after an install. 1 answer
