This is a Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors for the 1994 to 2004 GT and V6 Mustang. This is the kit that you wanna be checking out if you're looking to upgrade your brakes to the SVT Cobra brakes. A lot of people prefer the fit, dependability and performance of the manufacturer's performance group, in this case, the Cobra, and if you plan on upgrading your GT's or V6's calipers to Cobra calipers, you'll need to grab this kit to fit the Cobra calipers in the rear. Sometimes upgrading to a factory performance option can be less expensive, too. The kit costs about 315 bucks, and when it comes to the install, I'll call it a three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. This kit comes with your two rear caliper mounting brackets, two braces, two dust shields, your hardware, including bolts, and two OEM over 11-1/2 inch rear rotors. These are all genuine Ford Performance parts and the great part about this kit is that you know it'll fit. Once again, the fact that these are OEM performance upgrades means that you get that Ford fit, as well as quality. Of course, if you're restoring a Cobra or you need the rear caliper brackets and rotors, you can always pick this kit up for the parts that you need. But ultimately, this kit is used to install Cobra, Mach 1, or Bullitt Special Edition rear calipers on a '94 to '04 V6 or GT. Since big brake kits can get expensive fast, upgrading to a factory Performance option like the Cobra rear calipers can be another option for those out there that are looking to make the change. Once again, I'm gonna call the install a full three out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You will need some knowledge in order to complete the install, but you can always take the car to a shop for the install too. If you're interested in this kit, you can always check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

Rear Brake upgrade
I haven’t used the car much since the shop installed the brakes and braided hoses. It looks great but haven’t put them into a maximum effort stop yet. I’d like to add that you need to also buy the Cobra caliper at the same time as the new rotor is wider than the GT. ( cobra rotor is vented, the GT is not vented.)Helpful (0)

Nothing better than OE
Top quality from the manufacturer's performance division. Easy to install using the instructions from the Ford Performance site. Can use GT calipers but you will need Cobra brackets (not included). This is a bang-for-buck proposition for daily cars that see some track use using the 8.8" solid axle.Helpful (2)

Accurate description and fit. Bought these to replace the GT brakes that the previous owner of my 03 cobra installed. Huge difference in stopping power and feel. The best part is no more nose dives while braking.Helpful (6)

Great bang for your buck
The kit is pretty simple to install... Like an intermediate bolt-on. You will have to remove your axles to install the new hardware. I like this kit, because it allows me to use my GT calipers. I had to buy Cobra caliper brackets, but keeping the stock calipers meant I didn't have to bleed the brakes. Everything fit perfect, as always, with a FRPP. The low price, the stopping power of a Cobra, and the fact that it comes in one kit, are what drew me to this purchase and I couldn't be happier. I can feel a slight difference in braking power, but great longevity against brake fade.Helpful (12)

Good, but may require custom fab
This kit helps restore factory F/R braking balance after installing the front 13" Cobra brakes, and the reduced stopping distance and reduced nose dive under heavy braking are well worth the install time. The install does require pulling the axles to install the new backing plates which can take some time, but you can easily install new rear wheel bearings at the same time and the additional safety and performance are well worth it. Be aware the some minor custom fabrication may be required as this kit assumes that your axle doesn't have quad shocks in place -- on my '99 GT I needed to remove a spot weld on the new anti-moan braces to move the u-bolt outward slightly to clear the quad-shock mounts on the axle then re-weld.Helpful (16)

I have a 98 mustang GT and want to use this kit on the rear brakes. do I need to buy cobra, mach 1 or bullit rear calipers to use this kit? park cables need to be replaced also?
You can only install this kit with SVT Cobra rear calipers. You can replace the parking break as well.
Can this kit be used with GT rotors and calipers instead of the Cobra ones? It looks like the dust shields would probably be too big as well then. Are the caliper mounting brackets the same?
The Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors (94-04 GT, V6) is used to install SVT Cobra, Mach 1, or Bullitt Special Edition rear brake calipers. Also, the caliper mounting brackets between a Cobra and a GT are different.
Will stock E-brake cable and brake hoses work with cobra calibers Have a 2004 mustang conver. 3.9l V6 Cobra brakes up front. 7.5" diff. Want to upgrade, but not sure about the connections for E-brake. brake hoses shouldn't be a problem ,as long as I get the right threads.
Yes, the stock cables and hoses will fit just fine. The only difference between the V6, GT and Cobra rear calipers is the mounting bracket. Calipers themselves are the same.
I have a 93 LX coupe. Would this work for a rear disc conversion? I know I’d need the caliper. I have done research on this and I believe it will. Thanks for all the help.
The Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors can be used for a rear disc, 5 lug conversion, however additional parts would be required in order to complete the conversion.
Would this work on a 1993 Ford F-150? It's 8.8.
The Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors are designed specifically for the 1994-04 Mustangs and would not work on F150's
This rear brake kit will only work with 8.8 or 7.5 rear ends from the 94-04 Mustang GT and V6 year range.
Don;t mix and match, use the kit or buy it separate from ford
If you can fit 11.65" rotors inside your 15" Prostar wheels, then you won't need the spacers if you install the Ford Performance Rear Caliper Bracket Kit with Rotors (94-04 GT, V6)
