More Horsepower and Torque. Now you can improve the performance of your 5.0 Foxbody Mustang with a set of PaceSetter Black Long Tube headers for power you can feel throughout the RPM band. These Long Tube headers when combined with a PaceSetter shorty mid pipe will greatly improve your Mustangs exhaust flow for an increase in horsepower, torque, and throttle response.

Durable Construction. Manufactured from 1-5/8" mandrel bent 16-gauge carbon steel tubing for strength and unrestricted airflow, these PaceSetter Long Tube Mustang Exhaust headers feature CNC-machined 3/8" thick header flanges for additional strength and an OEM fit.

Black Painted Finish. These PaceSetter Headers feature a standard black painted finish, which is used to protect the headers during storage and shipment, as well as providing an aggressive appearance to your engine bay. This is not a heat-resistant coating.

Application. These PaceSetter Long Tube Headers are designed to fit the 1979 to 1993 Mustangs equipped with the pushrod 5.0L V8 engine, including the LX 5.0, GT and SVT Cobra models. These Long Tube headers will require the use of a shorty style PaceSetter H-pipe for proper installation (See drop down option above).

Technical Note. This PaceSetter product is not legal for use in emission restrictive states.

I was wondering what short H pipe to use for an automatic car with these headers. I see you no longer sell the pacesetter mid pipe, will the Mac or BBK mid H pipe work with these headers on an automatic car? Thank you.

EvanP

  • You can use the BBK offroad H-pipe in conjunction with these PaceSetter long tube headers however since these are not from the same companies there may be some slight modification when installing. Also, these will be able to work on an automatic transmission Mustang.

Are these confirmed to work on automatics? Summit has a feedback that it didn't fit?

NickH

  • Hello! Yes, the PaceSetter Black Long Tube Headers will fit an automatic.

Will these headers have the plug clearance for gt40p heads?

JrATa

  • These Headers will bolt right up to the GT40P Heads. Though, you may or may not have spark plug clearance. You may need to have some modifications done to the Headers in order to have the proper clearance.

Is there a catted h or x-pipe availble for these headers? I see the off-road h-pipe but I don't see a catted pipe available.

Spazmacholi

  • The only part that I could find is Pacesetter Off-Road H-Pipe 82-1111. I even called Pacesetter and Summit Racing, this is the only thing they can find. This is not to say that you couldn't get a catted BBK and pay a muffler shop to custom fit it though.

I have high flow cats and off road xpipe with flowmasters. I am wondering if these would fit my mustang. 89 lx

  • These PaceSetter Long Tubes will fit a 1989 LX 5.0L without any problems, but would require the PaceSetter Shorty Mid-pipe as well. Any time you upgrade to Long Tubes, the standard length mid-pipe needs to be replaced with as shorty mid-pipe to compensate for the longer length of the headers. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to give us a call!

    Clutch cable is close

The header install was fast and easy. They fit in the engine compartment like the manufacturer stated. But were the clutch cable enters the bellhousing it hits the header. So to fix my issue I wrapped the cable with header wrap. I ran the car at the track and seems to be no cable problem.

    Absolute headache

They must have not test fit them on an 84 fox, because what a nightmare. List of problems: Passenger side wouldn't clear starter, bought a mini starter. Drivers side wouldn't clear steering shaft, had to get crafty with the torch and hammer, as well as modify the steering shaft. Collector bolt holes were drilled too small for the supplied hardware. All of these issues resulted in about a 10 hour job, a lot of modification to the headers, and a lot of headaches. Judging from the reviews, there must not be issues with fitment on later foxbody cars, but the product page should reflect that. Wouldn't recommend.

    Installation on my engine stand

These headers fit pretty well, just needed to ream out the holes for a little wiggle room because I chose to go with header studs instead of going with bolts. All I have left for my exhaust is to fabricate my flange to bolt up the Pypes M-80 mufflers to go directly behind these headers. It should sound pretty good when I'm done!

    Great buy

Ordered these headers and received them two days later, quick shipping and easy installment. Took about a 4-6 hours to fully install and I am not a mechanic. Overall a good performance gain and a great tone!
