    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out the Mustang GT California special spoiler fitting all 2010 and newer Mustangs, available either unpainted or pre painted. This spoiler is identical to the pedestal style spoiler found on the 2011 California special, this is a special edition Mustang that originated back in the 60’s, then later resurfaced in 07 for a few years, and then later in 2011. These limited run cars came with some pretty trick styling one of which included this spoiler. As for the spoiler itself, you can see why it gets that pedestal name, as opposed to a GTR or GT500 spoiler which mounts flush to the trunk lid, the California special is raised like a pedestal, thanks to the 4 legs or risers that give it its own unique look. Build wise we are looking at a full ABS plastic construction, which is going to be equal parts lightweight and durable. As I mentioned earlier, there are a couple of different options when it comes to picking the spoiler up, there is an unpainted option which I have here, obviously you’ll need to have this thing prepped and painted before installing on your ride, or on the other hand, you can spring for a pre painted color matched option for a few bucks more, which we have install on our 2011 GT behind me. The color matched option is sprayed right here at AmericanMuscle headquarters, using the same base and clear coat Ford uses in their factories, so basically you can expect a perfect color match for your ride. While the cover does install using the 4 existing holes left by your factory spoiler, you will need to drill 4 additional holes to get the California special bolted up. If this isn’t something you feel comfortable doing, then your local body shop should be willing to help you out, however if you are going to tackle it, take your time, use the included alignment strip, and you should be able to knock everything out in about 2 hours. So if you’re a big fan of the California special appearance package, and you like the looks of a more pronounced pedestal spoiler, then this spoiler option would make a great choice for your ride.

Bold Modern Styling. Add the bold modern styling of the SpeedForm California Special GT-CS Mustang to your very own Pony with a Pedestal Style Spoiler from AmericanMuscle. This rear wing spoiler features a four pedestal mount design for aggressive good looks.

    Superior Quality.
Constructed in one-piece from Blow Molded acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS) material for it's lightweight and extreme durability, this spoiler will not chip or crack like fiberglass.

    Limited Drilling Required.
This SpeedForm Pedestal Style Mustang Spoiler mounts in four of the existing holes left by the factory rear wing spoiler, so you only need to drill four more holes for a relatively easy installation.

    Application.
This SpeedForm Rear Pedestal Style Spoiler is specifically designed to fit both the coupe and convertible 2010-2014 Ford Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Boss, and Shelby GT500. This Rear Pedestal Style Mustang Spoiler is not compatible with rear camera equipped vehicles.

Technical Notes. The Pedestal Spoiler ships unpainted. We recommended test fitting all products before they are painted. AmericanMuscle also recommends professional installation of all body parts.

Do you paint the spoiler "pillars" as well? I was hoping you guys would paint it like factory with the pillars left matte black plastic as opposed to painted in body color, any help on this matter would be awesome!

        • This spoiler comes fully painted, including the pillars. Hope this helps!

WILL THIS FIT RIGHT ON MY GT BASE MODEL WILL I HAVE TO PATCH HOLES IN TRUCK TO MAKE NEW ONES OR MAKE NEW HOLES NOT ORIGINAL FACTOR CALIFORNIA SPECIAL WING

Does this spoiler come with all hardware and templets for a trunk lid that has no pre-drilled holes by the factory

        • It comes with 8 screws and 8 washers. There is no template, just 8 strips of small cardboard that you can attach to the spoiler and then line up on your car. You will have to drill all 8 holes yourself.

I have a 2013 Gt with the standard ducktail spoiler with a white racing stripe down the whole car. Does ford put the racing stripe under the factor spoiler or will I have to get a decal/pain under the wing of the GT/CS?

        • From my understanding, the the stripe goes over the factory spoiler, so if removed, there will be a gap between the stripes that will need to be filled.

Is this compatible with the 2014 Mustang GT trunk lid? Most of the others don't cover existing holes, etc. This product description doesn't specifically address GT fitment either way. 1 answer

If I have a backup Camara is there any way of cutting it out of existing spoiler and leaving it in between the gap from the trunk and the new spoiler? 0 answer
If I mount the spoiler, will the trunk lid still stay open by itself or would some kind of adjustment be needed? 1 answer
Hello, I see there is carbon fiber duck tail spoiler available through AM. I was hoping to find something similar for the SpeedForm, which is what I currently have on my 2013 GT/CS, but it is white. Obviously it can't be "painted" in carbon fiber, but maybe wrapped for an additional cost? 0 answer
I have this spoiler on my car already. Clearcoat is coming off and it's like the same price getting it painted / ordering from you. So my question will be is there still additional drilling if I already have on this type of spoiler? 1 answer

I purchased the CS Spoiler for my 2014 VG. I did not have a previous spoiler so I had to drill my own holes (8) and hope for the best. Everything turned out great except the hardware was not long enough for the holes I had to drill into my spoiler. I know it says to drill 1/4 screws into the trunk lid, but does anyone know the size screws( either 1/4-20 or 1/4-28) that was provided for the installation so I can get the same type of screws, just in a longer size? Besides that, spoiler came in great condition I cant wait to put it on my car! 1 answer

Review from SpeedForm GT/CS Style Spoiler - Pre-painted (10-14 All)

            A little disappointing

After exchanging for a replacement twice, I finally settled on the 3rd one and will just get it professionally repaired. Every one I received had what looked like water spots under the clearcoat where the packaging was wrapped tightly around the ends. Cleaning had no affect, and you couldn't feel them on the surface. I'm not a paint expert by any means, but it was as if they were wrapped before they were fully cured or something. There is also a fair amount of orange peel on the paint too. I haven't had issues with other products in the past, so may e there's a new process in place that results in poorer quality or something. Overall, the paint quality is disappointing, but maybe I had too high of expectations.

Makes the stang look more aggressive.

Beautiful rear spoiler that was gifted to me by my girlfriend with pre-painted good matching paint for Gotta Have It Green. First time drilling and installing exterior parts for me. Only issue I had during installation were the screws that went in the center of the spoiler. The screws were too short and either you had to drill a bigger hole inside the truck on the first layer to get the screw to reach and properly screw in or go to a hardware store and buy longer screws. I went to the hardware store instead as I would rather do less drilling in my trunk. As for when it rains, no water gets in at all in the trunk. Overall it is a great purchase.

            2014 California spoiler

Looks great. Install would have been easier with a template included for screw placing. Also I recommend tapping female threads before installing. Paint color is perfect. The screws provided are too short for the reinforcement on the underside of the trunk hood. A variety of screw lengths is needed depending on where the holes end up. Look it over before you try and install. Have a 6mm tap on hand. Not for the beginner to install.
