    Improve Off The Line Acceleration. Are you on a quest to improve the low end grunt and performance of your 2011-2014 V6 Mustang? If you answered yes, you should consider upgrading to a set of Richmond Excel 3.73 Ring and Pinion Gears. From the factory most 3.7L V6 Mustangs were equipped with either 2.73 or 3.31 gears, which work very well to conserve fuel mileage, but leave something to be desired when it comes to performance. Richmond's Excel 3.73 Gears have a steeper ratio, when compared to the stock gears, which will place your Mustang into its power band much sooner for a noticeable improvement in torque and off the line acceleration. A set of 3.73 gears are perfect for use in street, track and drag applications.

    Required Upgrade. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. Because of this you will require a new 8.8" rear gear pinion bearing (Ford part# 9L3Z-4630-A) for proper installation, please see drop down option above.

    Recommended Upgrade. Please note that when changing the gear ratio of your Mustangs rear differential that the calibration of your speedometer will no longer be correct and will display the wrong speed. However, you can easily fix this annoying issue with a Handheld Tuner (sold separately).

    Application. This 3.73 ratio Richmond Excel Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 2011 to 2014 3.7L V6 Mustang models equipped with an 8.8" solid axle rear end. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

    Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

            Shattered after only 1.5 years

            I do not recommend these gears whatsoever. I got them professionally installed at a local shop and there were no issues with the install. However after putting nitrous on my car, all it took were a few passes and the pinion gear broke. I've had these gears installed for only 1.5 years and was only on a 100 shot. Get the Ford Racing Gears, stay away from these.

            Noisy Gears

            I was in the market for new gears and I wanted to order the Ford performance 3.73 gears, but I was informed it would take 6 weeks for them to have the in stock. I didn't want to wait, so I went with these Richmond Excel gears. The install took a while, but I was able to replace the gears and properly set the backlash. On the first test drive everything seemed fine because I kept it under 40. On the second run I went over 40 and I noticed a whining noise. I drove it for a while and the noise was annoying so I took the rear end apart again and reset the backlash. Even after the second install the noise is still present. Everything was done properly on install. I read some other reviews and I am not the only one getting the noise. Do yourself a favor and get the Ford performance gears. I wish I would have waited for them. I am planning on replacing the gears in the future. The noise is bearable, but it shouldn't be there. The gear ratio change is worth it. I went from 2.73s to 3.73s. I would definitely recommend a gear swap, but don't get these.
