Review & Install Video
Hey, guys. Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a detailed overview and installation of the RK Sport Carbon Fiber Front Splitter, which will fit the front of all 2015 and newer Mustangs. In this video, of course, I'll be going over the styling and appearance you can expect when picking up the RK Sport Front Splitter. And of course, I'll be going over the materials and construction, given the nature of its carbon fiber makeup. In addition, I'll top the video off with the installation, which I'll let you know upfront, full disclosure, reuses factory hardware and will get the one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, making it a very simple direct bolt-on mod.The RK Sport Carbon Fiber Front Splitter I have with me today will be for any 2015 or newer Mustang owner who is interested in picking up a fully, 100% hand-laid carbon fiber part to stick on the front end of their S550 to really grab some attention without having to make any permanent modifications to their ride. Now, it goes without saying, almost any part you're talking about from the aftermarket site here that goes on the S550, or Mustangs in general, will have people who love it, hate it, or really are indifferent about it, and carbon fiber parts are definitely no different. Now, with that said, this particular carbon fiber part is gonna cater to the guys out there looking to really grab some attention and stand out, definitely great for guys attending a lot of car shows and really wanna win that award. Now, with that said, it's gonna be for the guys out there looking for 100% real carbon fiber parts and are willing to pay the price for it.Now, the first thing I wanna touch on, obviously, appearance and functionality. Now, as far as appearance goes, pretty self-explanatory. It's a true carbon fiber part, 100% hand-lay with a gloss finish. On top of that, looks extremely aggressive on the front end of the S550. Front splitters are arguably one of the most popular exterior mods for the S550, and adding on the fact that it's made of the 100% carbon fiber and is obviously done so, it definitely adds a lot of value to it.Now, with that said, the functionality part just goes into the fact that front splitters are initially used for race cars, especially the Mustang, to really enhance their drag capabilities for the front aerodynamics. Just to elaborate on the aerodynamics and drag aspect of things, functionality-wise, this thing is definitely useful for the guys out there taking their S550 to the track and are traveling at those high speeds and need that extra drag to keep the front end planted on the ground, just to give it a little more aerodynamic quality. With that said, not super effective if you're not driving at speed, but of course, that's where the appearance aspect comes in. This is mainly gonna be for the stylistic point of view, but of course, has that little bit of functionality as well.Shifting back over to the materials and construction aspect. Again, 100% carbon fiber hand-laid weave, got the gloss finish, as you can see. It is reflecting light like crazy off of this thing, definitely an eye catcher. This is not going to be something that has a carbon fiber finish vinyled on top of the material. This is made from the core up, all 100% carbon, and looking at it firsthand, it's definitely got a very smooth hand-laid finish there. I can see no cracks in the weave, no uneven balances. Even through all these turns here, all the carbon is extremely linear, no cracks that I can see visually, definitely a plus when talking about something that is true carbon fiber. So as I mentioned in the beginning, this is catering to the guys out there looking for the true carbon part, but are, more importantly, willing to pay the price to get it. This one here is high-temp, hand-laid carbon weave with the gloss finish, but with that said, as it's made in the U.S., it is going to be just north of 700 bucks. Several hundred dollars more than the next step below it, but of course, that's all thanks to the carbon fiber makeup. It does give you that aggressive finish, so if you are interested in carbon parts, this is the price you've gotta pay to get it, which, in my opinion, very high-priced. Some of you guys may think it's over the top. But if you're looking for this part and you're willing to pay the price, there you go.Shifting over to the install portion of the video. I said in the beginning here, easy enough for anybody to take care of. It's a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, and it really is a direct bolt-on install. As you can see, there are pre-drilled holes in the materials here. You'll be removing factory hardware and putting the factory hardware back into place with this installed. Expect to have a simple ratchet and socket set and maybe a jack and jack stands, but the jack really isn't all that necessary. It just makes things a little bit more comfortable. So kicking off that actual installation here, all you gotta do is unbolt the factory bolt-in clips that are holding under the fog lights here on each side as well as a couple in-between. You can see it runs all the way across this product here. Once you get those bolts removed, set this into place and just replace those bolts in-between. That'll hold this exactly into place and will not actually fall off at all. This is going to be a very sturdy install that'll last as long as you want it on there. I would expect to give it about 30 minutes or so on the install, maybe a bit longer if you're not really familiar with any of this handiwork. But again, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter, easy enough for anybody to do.Well, just to wrap up this overview and install, if you're interested in picking up a true carbon fiber part for your S550 and you're willing to pay the price to get it, check out the RK Sport Carbon Fiber Front Splitter, which of course, is available right here at americanmuscle.com.
