Boomy, Exhaust Note Like No Other, but Kinda Quiet
I got these RTR Tactical Performance Street Specs to replace my Roush axle backs, because I felt that they sounded too high pitched (and others agreed with me). I'm now about 300-500 miles using these, which has probably broken them in by now.
These are totally different from the Roush. The piping is 3", which deepens that exhaust note to something you won't find in any other V6 axle back. I've been wondering if they sound like the cheap can exhausts, but I'm still not sure; it probably drones way less though. I don't think I'd say the RTR Street Spec has an 'aggressive' tone, from what I can hear as the driver.
My main complaint: they're quiet, or they feel quiet, and they're not 'throaty'. They're not as 'visceral' as the Roush or any similar straight-pipe exhaust, even if this is kind of straight-piped in design. There's a lot of baffles in the exhaust (I looked) which really mellows out the exhaust note, at least from the cockpit. I guess I'm more of a pure straight-pipe in taste. But I think other people would really like the relatively quieter volume of these. They're definitely louder over stock, but I just wish they were a little louder.
Other people that have heard my car pass by say it sounds really good though. But it just isn’t as fun as the Roush for me. I gave Exhaust Note a 5 star though because it's really just such a unique tone for the V6 that you won't find anywhere else. I think I would have prefered the RTR Competition Spec if they had those for the V6, or anything that just has a deep, throaty, visceral exhaust note.
Drone? Actually minimal. It *booms* in the cabin, but it's not drone, which is pretty cool. Install was easy, I didn't even lift the car because I was too lazy to.
Lastly, the exhaust tips. They look sooo good. My absolute favorite. The tips are good quality with beveled edges instead of rolled, and the RTR logo looks awesome.
Overall, awesome exhaust that's not exactly my taste, but still really like them, and they sound really good and they're just loud enough to enhance the V6's sound and not annoy people; so like, best replacement for stock if extreme volume isn't what you're looking for and an exhaust note everyone around you will like. I just wish RTR had the Competition Spec for the V6, because I don't mind being louder, haha.
