    Review & Install Video

Justin: Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I'm here with Vaughn Gittin Jr. to talk to you guys a little bit more about the '05 to '14 RTR Tactical Performance lowering springs for your S197. Now Vaughn, a lot of people at home might not even know the basic purposes of a spring on their Mustang. Can you break that down?Vaughn: Yeah, to put it quite simply, springs essentially hold the car up, define ride height, and help control weight transfer of the car.Justin: Very cool. Now when you and your team were developing the Tactical Performance lowering springs for the S197, what was your main objective?Vaughn: For us, ride quality is extremely important. We want you to enjoy driving your car on the street, but also have some tracking capability. So, we wanted a spring that wasn't too harsh, but was going to give you a significant increase in feel of performance behind the wheel, and now we achieved that 100%.Justin: Very cool. Now let's go over some of the specifics here. Now, 1½" drop all around, correct, a progressive rate spring, so that's going to give you that better ride on the road.Vaughn: Yeah, exactly, and that's exactly how we achieved that, you know. The car rides at a certain rate when it's under standard conditions, but as soon as the car starts to roll over, that rate gets progressive, increases a little bit, and that's when you start really getting the springs holding the car up, and get that more crisp feel and get the car listening to you a lot earlier on your inputs.Justin: Now, overall guys, spring install, again, not that bad. Leave yourself about a half a day in the garage to get this one knocked out. Again, you don't want to forget your spring compressor on this one, absolutely needed. The RTR Tactical Performance lowering springs, again, for your S197, you can grab them and the rest of the RTR line-up right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Handling. Installing a set of RTR Tactical Performance Progressive Rate Springs will lower your Mustang's center of gravity, which will reduce squat during acceleration, body roll in the corners, and excessive nose-dive under hard braking. RTR Tactical Performance Springs are great for daily street driving and fun on the track. The progressive rate design offers a great ride quality for street cruising and does not lack performance when you get aggressive on the track.

Aggressive Muscular Stance. RTR Tactical Performance Lowering Springs not only improve the handling of your S197 Mustang, but they also improve the overall appearance by lowering the ride height approximately 1.5" to eliminate that nasty raised 4x4 truck look for a more aggressive muscle car stance.

Recommended Upgrade. Anytime you lower your Mustang, your rear axle gets moved out of alignment. Adding an Adjustable Panhard Bar will not only center your rear axle, but offers great traction during straight-line acceleration as well as superior strength over the factory panhard bar.

Clears Stock and Aftermarket Wheels & Tires. These lowering springs were engineered to be compatible with your factory size wheels and tires, as well as AmericanMuscle's pre-configured wheel and tire combo kits (specific to your generation), to assure proper clearance with no rubbing issues.

Application. This set of four RTR Tactical Performance Lowering Springs are designed for use on the 2005 to 2014 Mustang Coupes, including the V6, GT and Bullitt models. Does not fit Shelby GT500.

JUST BOUGHT THESE SPRINGS. WILL IT BE OKAY TO PUT THEM ON WITH THE OEM SHOCKS? AND WILL I BE OKAY WITH THE STOCK PANDHARD BAR? WILL UPGRADE ALL THAT LATER ON JUST WANTED TO KNOW IF IT WILL BE OKAY LIKE THAT FOR A COUPLE MONTHS

        • Yes these will be ok with the stock shocks and struts. As far as your panhard bar, every Mustang reacts differently to lowering springs. The best you can do is react and buy accordingly if needed.

Will these be good for an 2007 S281. Just wanting to know if it will change the height at all. I know that the car is already lowered and I like the height it is now. I just have been looking for a good progressive spring for the car.

        • These will lower your vehicle 1.5" from the stock height.

Can I use the RTR springs without any other modification or do I need to purchase other items?

        • Caster camber plates and a Pan hard bar is recommended to help fix the alignment.

Will I need to get a set of adjustable front sway bar links to accommodate for the lower ride height?

        • We would recommend getting adjustable sway bar links for lowered applications to help improve the handling performance over non-adjustable sway bar end links.

            Ride great look great

Got these I was a little sceptical that the extra money would really be worth it but I was wrong. These ride so much better than my last springs. Not quite stock quality but dang close. Love the look love the ride. Easy install about hour and a half with breaks

            Drastically Improved Handling

I paired these springs with Koni Oranges and it’s amazing how much different the car handles. Once the spring gets loaded up in a spirited drive it’s incredibly well balanced, especially considering I’m still on stock sway bars. Ride quality is now slightly firmer, but no rough; you simply feel more of the road. Probably the best springs I’ve installed on any of my cars!

            RTR lowering springs

I should have installed these lowering springs years ago! The install was pretty easy, it took me about 2 hrs just because I had to use floor jacks. I would recommend the RTR springs to anyone looking to improve the stance of their mustang and get rid of that ugly fender gap.

Works beautiful with the other RTR suspension

When combined with the other RTR suspension. Your stang will hug corners tighter then factory. Side to side movement will be gone and also wheel hop, eliminated. Ready To Rock (RTR)

One of the best mods for your build!

They might as well offer a money back guarantee, because that's a safe bet for them. I immediately noticed a huge ride and performance improvement! It also looks much more aggressive, with the maximum lowering without a need to worry about speed bumps etc. They only negative I can possibly think of is my exhaust seems to have a slight more drone on the highway now- maybe because I'm closer to the ground? Maybe I'm crazy... Overall, best ride feel HANDS DOWN

            Love it

These springs are perfect! Along with kyb shocks and struts, with the matching adjustable panhard bar. They make the Stang handle like a dream! Took me 4 hours for everything but if you are only doing the springs it should take less time with the right tools!!! DEFINITELY RECOMMEND ADJUSTABLE PANHARD BAR!!!

            Great Springs, Great Look!

The ride is stiffer, handles better, and they helped reduce some of the twist I was getting off the line. The front dropped less than 1.5" but it may still settle, the back is dramatically improved. For a daily driver it looks great overall, 100 better than the stock look, but not slammed at all. After having them for a week now I wouldn't mind another 1" drop (because I'm starting to appreciate the look of an even lower stance)...but not enough to buy a coil over kit. The fitment was perfect, still using the stock camber plates, shocks, and struts. No clearance issues at all at any articulation (running 255s up front with a 27" diameter). As for stiffness...if you don't take speed bumps really slow, your head may hit the ceiling...that's how stiff and bouncy they are. Anyway, I am very happy with them and recommend them to anyone.

            BEST SUSPENSION INVESTMENT

It didn't take me long to install the springs, as I am a former technician and have a shop at my disposal. I wouldn't say the handling is stiff, but I will say that it is "tighter" It rides how a mustang should ride.

            Nice ride height

Ended up with just under an inch and a half drop front and rear. May settle some after some miles. Install was straight forward, about 4 hours in my garage No poblem if you have the tools and knowlege of disassembling struts. Ride is good, a little firmer than stock which is exspected.
