Hey guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here, checking out a fast and sure fire way to stiffen up the suspension of your 2005 to 2014 Mustang with this SR Performance rear shock tower brace. SR Performance has a wide selection of performance and suspension components for your Mustang, with prices that are budget friendly and price points that are consistently lower than competitors, all while offering equal or greater quality products. If you'd like to check out more from SR Performance for your Mustang, you can always head back to the website and check out SR Performance under the featured brand section of the home page. This SR Performance rear shock tower brace has a tubular design that does an excellent job of reducing suspension flex and body roll, without creating a harsh feeling in your suspension. It reinforces the rear shock towers and keeps the car from flexing, and it also improves traction by helping to plant the rear tires on the road. This brace also provides balance to a front strut tower brace. The brace is also constructed from tubular steel, and it's powder coated black, so it looks great tucked into the trunk of your Mustang. If you'd like to see some more of this shock tower brace, you can check out some customer submitted images of it installed on customer cars on the product page. While you're there you can read up on some customer reviews of the product as well. Keep in mind, while the shock tower brace does a great job on its own, it does pair really well with other suspension upgrades like a strut tower brace, which I would recommend purchasing with this, or a set of lowering springs and some sway bars. It does a great job of tying all these mods together. Installing this brace should take you about an hour, and you might need to trim just a little of the trunk liner for the install. You guys should also note that this brace will not work with your 'Stang if you have a Shaker 1000 system. If you guys have any questions about the shock tower brace, or the install itself, you can always reach out to one of our many Mustang experts by phone or by email, and they'd be more than happy to help you out. If you're looking for a quick and budget friendly way to tighten up your Mustang's handling, then you should check out one of SR Performance's black shock tower braces for 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, available right here at americanmuscle.com.

Improves Handling Performance. Improve your Mustang's handling performance by reinforcing your rear shock towers with a SR Performance rear shock tower brace. A SR rear shock tower brace will stiffen your Mustang's chassis to reduce suspension flex and improve traction for impressive corner carving handling.

Superior Construction. The SR Performance Mustang Rear Shock Tower Brace is made from heavy duty tubular steel to keep your rear end from flexing under g-load and is completed in a textured black powder coated finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Application. The SR Performance Rear Shock Tower Brace is designed to fit all 2005 to 2014 Mustangs, including the V6, GT, Bullitt, BOSS, and Shelby GT500 models. Does not fit Mustangs with the Shaker 1000 sound system. Technical Notes. Some modifications and welding may be required for installation. All models will require trimming of factory inner trunk liner.

I have a 2006 Mustang GT with the factory shaker 500 sound system. Is it true that this bar will not work in my trunk?

    AaronS

    • The SR Performance Rear Shock Tower Brace will not work with the Factory Shaker 1000 Sound system. The Shaker 500 should work with this brace. I would double check fitment in your trunk to make sure your shaker system isn't on top of where the strut brace would be installed.

      Shock tower brace

This is an easy way to stiffen the rear suspension. There is a noticeable improvement in handeling, cornering with more predicable control. I needed to saw away some of the shaker sub woofer case to fit.

      Worth the Effort and Costs

Got this to stiffen up the rear end of my Stang for roll control to compliment the full BMR rear end control package I've already installed (BMR adj PH bar, BMR PHB brace, BMR non-adj LCA's and BMR adj UCA w\ mounting bracket and BMR poly axle bushing) along w\ the FR 3.73 gear upgrade. Installation was straight forward but the brace was a little too short (holes in brace were approx. 3\8" to 1\2" too narrow to fit around the lower shock rubber extensions (ones that protrude thru the shock tower) so I got out my floor jack and jacked up 1 side at the front LCA body mount to get unibody to flex inward as much as it would then took my pry bar and pried the SR rear shock tower brace over after installing 1 side to get the bar to start sliding down the rubber extension then installed the other top rubber shock mount w\ metal compression washer and tightened it down while continuing to flex brace to coax brace to fit fully over the extension and bottom out. Took me approx. 40 mins to get this done (pretty hot inside trunk of my black Stang so I took several breaks to cool off and rehydrate). Got both side panel covers trimmed up to fit around the brace then put all back in to finish the install. Took car out for a drive to settle the brace in and test it out. Went down some winding roads to test roll characteristics and some very uneven roads to try to flex my car's unibody to ensure that brace settles in. I could tell that this brace was making a difference as the car's unibody was not exihibiting any lateral flexing (have a SR Front Strut Tower brace already installed along w\ a FR Front LCA brace so both F\R braces are now working together) and car's body roll was very minimal when put into corners w\ decent lateral G's (still using stock springs w\ stock struts\shocks and FR red poly bushing kit installed on front\rear sway bars to enhance their operation running Goodyear Eagle Sport A\S tires)….handling was very good but wasn't gonna push it too hard w\ A\S tires. Am very satisfied w\ this product. Note: If you're installing 1 of these save yourself some grief and reinstall your main trunk liner and trunk carpet mat BEFORE you install this brace on the rear shock towers!

Rear Shock Tower and the Kitchen Sink

As implied, the shock tower brace was one of several changes made to stiffen the rear end and control wheel hop after installing a Roush R2300 Stage 1 supercharger. The kitchen sink included a Steeda x-brace, BMR control arms with relocatable brackets and an adjustable panhard bar. Control arms were placed in the center holes. Mission accomplished! Rear end remains stable and wheel hop is eliminated...:-)

      Helps Convertibles

This may not help the coupes as much but it sure makes a difference in the convertibles. Easy to install and does not take up trunk space really. Just like the front shock tower brace it really keeps the jiggles and shudders down on these terrible Ohio roads.

      Awesome brace

This brace is key if you have a Strut tower brace. I purchased the two braces separately and noticed a huge difference when I got the second part. Easy to install too, only took about 20 minutes with simple tools.

      Great Looking...

This items looks great installed. But I had an issue getting the Shock Nuts off the current shocks. To get the Nuts off the shock rod was stripped on my shock, so the shock tool i had would not work. I had to use an impact wrench with a long extension and a swivel union, and a 15mm socket, and this worked, Not much room between the shock and parcel shelf to come in at it directly. But once I got the nuts off, it was super easy to install this Brace.

      works

I bought both front and rear. I took the same on ramps at the same spirited speed three times. One with out either, then the front, then the front and rear and I noticed better handling each time. I should point out that If you already have a front one and you are wanting to replace it for what ever reason you probably will not notice a difference. In other words something is better that nothing. broken record front and back together really work.
