Performance Improvement. Installing a set of 3.73 SR Performance Gears will definitely wake up the performance of your V6-powered 2011-2014 Mustang. Ideal for both street and track applications, these SR Performance Gears will place your V6 Pony into its power band much quicker for faster off the line acceleration and more low end grunt.

3.73 Gear Ratio. 3.73 gears are a great combination of performance and fuel economy that are ideal for a daily-driven Mustangs that see a lot of highway time. If you put a lot of miles on your Pony and don't want to increase your cost at the pump, a 3.73 ratio will still give you the added acceleration you want without dramatically compromising fuel economy.

Quality Construction. SR Performance manufactures their ring and pinion gears from forged 8620 triple alloy steel for superior strength. Featuring CNC cut and lapped gear teeth, SR Performance completes their gears in a black oxide finish for long lasting corrosion resistance.

Recommended Upgrade. Changing the rear axle gear ratio will throw off the calibration of your Mustangs speedometer, but a Handheld Tuner is a quick and easy way to fix this issue.

Attention 2010 and newer Mustang Owners. Starting in 2010 Ford changed the inner rear gear pinion bearing in all 8.8" equipped Mustangs. Because of this you will require a new 8.8" rear gear pinion bearing (Ford part# 9L3Z-4630-A) for proper installation, please see drop down option above.

Professional Installation Recommended. The installation of Ring and Pinon Gears can be a very intricate process, so mechanical experience is highly recommended. Follow the included instructions for best results.

Application. This 3.73 SR Performance Ring and Pinion Gear set will fit all 2011-2014 V6 Ford Mustangs equipped with a 8.8" rear end. A master bearing kit is recommended by most installers, especially on high mileage vehicles, see drop down option above.

Technical Note. Installation costs will vary, but a good rule of thumb is between $250 and $300. Be sure to work with a reliable shop that you trust for installations. You can also save money on your installation labor by having your Trac-Lok rebuilt at the same time as your gears are installed, see drop down option above.

What is the difference between the V6 3.73 gear set and the GT 3.73 gear set? I thought the 8.8 rear axles were the same between the V6 and the GT.

        • The gears would be identical for use with the 3.73 in a GT or V6.

Got the wrong bearing from advanced auto

Advanced auto parts sold me the wrong bearing, the $50 bearing here on AM is too expensive, but you have to make sure to get a bearing for 2010 even if they say it will fit a 2012 or whatever. Didn't set in the race right, had a wear pattern that was somewhat off but acceptable. 5 miles down the road and the driveshaft had 1/16'th play and pinion flange was loose vertically and horizontally, I popped it with a impact and had enough backlash to check the preload if that tells you how bad it was. Bearing noise stopped but the gears failed almost instantly, don't expect to get a second chance if something is off. Can't comment on the long term quality, but they fit just fine with some new shim sizing. I imagine they could take a beating if there isn't a bearing shredding everything.
