    Features & Details

    • Improved Clutch Pedal Feel
    • Heavy-Duty Piano Wire Construction
    • 35 lb./in. Clutch Assist Spring
    • Replaces OEM Spring for Easy Installation
    • Limited-Lifetime Warranty
    • Fits 2015-2017 Ford Mustang GT, EcoBoost, and V6 Models
More Precise Clutch Pedal Feel and Control. The Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Assist Spring replaces the 185 lb./in. spring that comes in your Mustang. The high rate of the OEM spring leads to vague clutch pedal feel. Converting to the Steeda 35 lb./in. Spring helps your clutch pedal feel more linear and direct. This simple modification can transform the way your Mustang feels.

Less Clutch Chatter. Replacing your stock clutch spring with the Steeda 35 lb./in. helps your clutch pedal return completely to the at rest position. This both reduces clutch chatter and prevents slave cylinder wear. A pedal that does not return to the at rest position can affect clutch engagement/disengagement. It can also damage the slave cylinder due to constant pressure being applied to the seals.

Piano Wire Constructed. Heavy-duty piano wire provides the Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Assist Spring with high tensile strength and high elastic qualities. The design also provides a consistent spring rate and prevents sag over time.

Warranty Information. Steeda backs its 35 lb./in. Clutch Assist Spring with a limited-lifetime warranty. Some exclusions or limitations may apply; please see manufacturer's warranty for complete details.

Application. The Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Assist Spring fits 2015-2017 Ford Mustang GT, EcoBoost, and V6 models.

How does this spring effect clutch feel? Does it make the clutch feel stiffer? Thanks!

    ErikL

    • Your 2015-2017 Mustang comes with a 185 lb/in clutch assist spring installed from the factory. This high-rate spring is what causes such a vague and disconnected clutch pedal feel. Using this Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Spring Assist will allow a softer and smoother return.

I see this spring does not fit the gt350. Is there a spring comparable that will fit?

    Redragon

    • At this time, we are unaware of any version of the Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Spring Assist that is designed for GT350 models.

Do you need to install the perch upgrade aswell?

    DerekL

    • The Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Spring Assist does not require the spring perch upgrade, however we do recommend it to ensure longevity.

How does this compare to omitting a spring entirely? I have been driving around for the last 2 years without any assist spring and have also upgraded to a twin disk. The clutch pedal currently feels very springy and doesn't always travel back to the top/original position (though, when it doesn't it gets very close). Would installing this spring make much of a difference to not having one at all? The clutch feel in the S550 has never been great, but how much of it has to do with this spring?

    DylanF

    • The clutch spring in the S550 is a big part of the clutch feel, in addition to the hydraulic clutch actuation system. The Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Spring Assist will help in making sure you get a full return to the top, while still maintaining an improved clutch feel over stock. We recommend pairing this with the Steeda Clutch Spring Assist Perch Upgrade Kit and a Steeda Heavy Duty Braided Hydraulic Clutch Line to achieve the best pedal feel possible. Both of these are linked below: https://www.americanmuscle.com/steeda-clutch-spring-assist-perch-upgrade-kit-15117.html https://www.americanmuscle.com/steeda-hydraulic-clutchline-2015.html

Do you have to purchase the assist perch upgrade kit with this spring?

    JustinP

    • The Steeda 35 lb./in. Clutch Spring Assist does not require the perch upgrade, however for optimum pedal feel we do recommend installing the Steeda Clutch Spring Assist Perch Upgrade Kit.

      Steeda clutch spring assist

I recommend this anyone out there that still has the stock clutch spring assist. It gave the clutch pedal a more realistic feel and made the shifts a whole lot more smoother. It is well worth the money and it only took less than 5 min to install.

First mod for sure, not up for discussion

Could not stand the clutch feel on the 17 GT and did some searching and found this, installed it and now the clutch feel is night and day compared with the stock spring. I can actually feel the clutch engage now and the shifts are so much smoother as a result! Worth the $20, its a no brainer!!!

      A must have

This small part makes such a huge difference to the way it drives. The clutch disengagement was very inconsistent with the factory spring. Now it’s not only consistent but feels smoother and more linear. Buy it, it’s cheap and easy to install.

      Worth the $20

Such an inexpensive mod and it really does make the clutch feel so much more direct and engaging. No more soft clutch pedal feel anymore.

      Hard to get used to

Before writing the review I admit there could be other factors, such as a weak pressure plate. The clutch pedal feel is very weak. I am not able to tell when the clutch comes back.

      Steeda clutch pedal assist

This little spring will definitely change the ease of drivability of your stick shifted s550! If you're on the fence about get it, just do it. Install took 5 minutes, too easy.

The part Ford should have used

I’m so glad I purchased this. I was afraid that the reduction in spring rate was going to make the clutch feel like the heavy clutches in my old cars. What it did was get rid of the vague engagement while maintaining the light pedal effort.

      Necessary Upgrade

I can't tell much of a difference in feel, but I can definitely tell the difference in functionality...this spring will help you find the clutch catch point much better, and virtually eliminates the gumminess you get from the OEM spring. Highly recommended!

      Awesome upgrade for the price

I upgraded from a mustang ecoboost (automatic) to a 2015 mustang gt premium w/ performance package. I hated the feel of the clutch pedal. I gave myself a week and I still couldn't properly tell when the clutch was engaging/disengaging. Installation was, for the most part, easy. Compressing the factory spring is fairly easy as all you need to do is use a pair of vice grips to compress it and it pulls right out. The new spring is light enough that you can put it in just by hand, without having to use vice grips to compress it. The most awkward thing about the install is the working angle, but it's very doable for the average person. As far as the feeling of the new spring, it's a world of difference. It immediately made the clutch pedal feel more responsive and I am not having trouble with shifting anymore (well the clunky gears of the MT-82 still require a little finesse, but that's an entirely different issue). I loved this product and can't wait to put the Steeda pedals on next to assist with heel-toe driving.

Upgrade you use every time you drive

Although when I installed this I realized previous owner had installed the clutch pedal extension, I took that off and installed the steeda spring. My personal preference I like a little bit of a heavier clutch pedal. 20 dollars for a better clutch feel and good engagement feedback is a no brainer. Should have been the first thing I bought! I’ve heard of people breaking the perch by just prying it off but if you use needle nose vice grips and clamp the spring you’ll have no issues.

      Steede spring

I ordered this after I realized not having a spring can damage the slave cylinder. I ended up ordering the Purch upgrade because I realized mine had broken. I wasn't expecting much but the spring has really made the whole car shift and start from a stop much smoother. It really isn't very heavy at all, compared to the stock spring and has a great feel. Definitely pick this up.

      Finally installed

The effect is a little more subtle than expected -- but I'd say it is more like a normal clutch pedal feel. Closer to how my 2003 Mach-1 clutch felt.

      Must have mod!

I have driven many different manual cars over the years. After driving my new 2018 Mustang for a few days I couldn’t figure out why I was still lurching when shifting from 1st to 2nd. I had already ordered this spring based on all the reviews. It came today and I had it installed in 5 minutes. I can’t believe how much smoother the shifts are now. No more lurching and take offs are smoother too. I consider this a must have mod and for the cost there’s really no reason not to put this on your car!

      Essential mod

What a difference! I can actually feel the engagement point now, no more guessing. I love the slightly heavier clutch feel. Install took 2 minutes with a small pair of vice grips. Every s550 owner with MT must install this Steeda clutch spring, this is the way it should have been from the factory. Dave Pericak what were you thinking!?

I tried having NO spring and didn't like how there was play in the clutch and seemed just a little to hard to push the clutch in. The Steeda spring is perfect in clutch feel and no play. Love it!
