    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, what's going on guys? Adam here with americanmuscle.com and today I'm bringing you a detailed review of the Sto N Sho Detachable Front License Plate Bracket, fitting all '15 and newer GT, V6, and EcoBoost Mustangs. So if you're the owner of a '15 or newer Mustang and you're looking for a way to get rid of the ugly front bump or license plate when you're at a car show but you want to easily put it back on when you're hitting the road, you might want to check out the Sto N Sho Detachable Front License Plate Bracket. So with the Sto N Sho Detachable Front License Plate Bracket, you can have your license plate on your vehicle completely clear and visible throughout the day while you're on the road driving, just to keep it street legal. When you pull into a car show or when you're in the lineup, it's definitely an eyesore to see that front plate on the front bumper. You can easily detach it for the car show, and when you're leaving the show to get back on the road, you can put it back on in seconds. Now, for you guys in the states that require a front license plate, this will be definitely very useful. This will not require you to drill into the front bumper to make any modifications visibly to the front bumper, but you will have to drill one single hole underneath the bumper that won't be visible and won't affect any appearance. Now, detaching the front license plate was made extremely simple, thanks to a spring-loaded pin as you can see here on the side. When it's mounted on front of your vehicle, all you have to do is pull that pin and slide it right off. Putting it back together when you're leaving the show is extremely simple. All you do is pull the pin again and push it straight through, and you're locked in. So this bracket was actually manufactured right here in the U.S. at a precision cut 50/52 and 60/61 aluminum for durability, all handled well by professionals for topnotch quality. It's also finished in an automotive black paint from the factory look so you don't have to worry about it looking cheap. Now, the only downside to the fitment aspect of this bracket is that it's only meant to work with the factory front fascias on the GTs, V6s, and EcoBoost. If you are rocking an aftermarket body kit or some kind of chin spoiler that includes the ralchton [SP] spoiler, then this unfortunately won't work with your setup. We've also seen in our customer testimonials tell us that it doesn't actually work with the Performance Pack TTs or the 50th Anniversary Packages. So if you do have those you would have to do a little bit of drilling into your air deflector, which would conflict with the drilling spot for this bracket. So just keep that in mind when you're shopping around. So price-wise for this particular bracket I have here today, you can expect to be spending just about $80, which is definitely an affordable way to easily get rid of your front license plate bracket when pulling up to a car show. Now, some of the other options on the market will be like the flip-down license plate, both motorized and manual, which can run you about $140. So this is definitely one of the less expensive options and one of the ones that gives you a lot of bang for your buck. Now before you get started you want to have a couple of common hand tools on hand, like a jack and jack stand, you want to have a T15 Torx split, quarter inch ratchet, 7 and 10-millimeter sockets, extension, a drill, a one-inch drill bit, and maybe some safety glasses. So to kick off the installation, you'll remove the two center spoiler screws with an eight-millimeter socket, and start getting the base of the bracket in place. You'll start by using the two holes facing the front of the vehicle and the pin side facing up. You'll use the two supplied screws and the two nylon spacers to get this bolt into place. Next you'll take your drill and drill bit and you're going to drill one pilot hole in the pre-drilled hole on the actual base mount. Once you get that drilled out you can use a supplied screw and secure that place. At this point you can test the bracket by attaching and detaching it from the actual base plate by pointing the pin. If it works, then you're all set and you're good to go. Overall, you're looking at spending about a half an hour in the driveway at home. I definitely give this one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter because it's something anybody can do, like I said, in that driveway with a couple of basic hand tools. So just to quickly wrap things up, guys, if you're the owner of a '15 or newer Mustang and you're looking for a way to get rid of that eyesore of a front license plate on your front bumper but you want to be able to quickly put it back on when hitting the road, then you might want to check out the Sto N Sho No Drill Detachable Front License Plate Bracket available right here at americanmuscle.com.

I'm confused. The description says 'No drill installation', but in video you say 'you have to drill one hole'. Which one is it?

    • Hello, the Sto N Sho Detachable Front License Plate Bracket (15-17 GT, V6, EcoBoost) does show that it is a No Drill Installation product so long as you do have a factory front fascia. It will not fit on a Limited Edition 50th Anniversary Mustangs, CS Mustangs, Performance Pack equipped models or Mustangs that have installed a Performance Pack or CS chin spoiler. Inexperienced with ratchet and caused one of the factory screw to snapped off while try to install the bracket. How could I remove the snapped screw?

    SamG

    • The snapped screw would be recommended to be removed by a shop, however, screw extractors and left-handed drill bits alike may be able to remove the broken screw.

Do they make a bracket that fits the performance package on eco boost. The example doesn't look any different, can it be altered. Seriously don't want holes IN BUMPER but need front plate in NYS.

    • The Sto N Sho Detachable Front License Plate Bracket will not fit Performance Package models, and cannot be modified to do so. At this time, we do not have a similar product for the Performance Package models.

      Sto N Sho fo sho!!

The Sto N Sho detachable front license plate bracket was super easy to install and holds up great! Very easy to remove (which may be a bad thing if you live some place where people like to mess with your stuff as they could easily remove your plate within 2 seconds if they knew how). Good thing I am getting my entire Stang repainted so I don't have to look at the 2 holes in my bumper that were left behind from when the plate was attached... Other than that it looks good all nice and low like...looks even better when its not installed at all :)

      Great Concept

I installed this on a 17' GT, instructions were spot on, the only issue I have is the 2 screw mount system allows too much flex, not rigid enough. The screws mount through the plastic bumper molding, I think over time if you drag or just the fact its screwed into plastic with the weight of the plate it could possibly become flimsy.

      Easy to install

Very easy to install. Swap out two screws and it's done. Shipping was very fast (and free!) Looks great with the front plate lower and not drilling into the front bumper for the stock plate holder is a huge plus. Price is a bit steep but worth it. Great product

      sto and go

I purchased this license plate bracket cuz I couldn't bear the thought of drilling holes in my brand new Mustang it took about 10 minutes to install it the fit and finish is excellent and I think it makes the car look a hundred percent better then it would with that black hunk of plastic license plate from the factory .be sure to put a little bit of lubricant or grease on the release pin so it doesn't seize up if you live in a winter climate. Well worth the money

      Perfect

I don't write reviews unless I either love or hate a product. In this case, it's the former. This is by far and away the best option for mounting your front license plate. No drilling whatsoever, perfect fitment, effortless install, and completely invisible without the plate clipped in. The price definitely seems steep, until you get it. The welds and materials are extremely high quality, and it fits like a glove. If you know what a wrench is, there's no way it could take you more than 10 minutes to install either. Two bolts out, two screws in, and you're done. And to top it all off, AM will ship it to you for free and get it to you in a matter of days. So drop the cash, buy this bracket from AM, watch the install tutorial from CJ Pony Parts (the included instructions are sort of useless), and enjoy. You won't be disappointed, other than with the fact that the license plate clashes so badly with your grabber blue paint (didn't have an option for 2017 down below).

Totally, absolutely love this plate holder! Easy center of bumper installation using existing holes for mounting points! Perfect for use at shows or photoshoots. I used a cable tie to lock the plate to the pin as theft deterrent. AmericanMuscle is on point with timely shipping. Me and my S550 are extremely happy customers.

      No Holes! Yay!

My Mustang didn't come with a front plate bracket but my state requires one. I really didn't want to drill holes so this system works great. On my 2015 Mustang, I found the plastic spacers were not quite tall enough to mount the attaching bracket at the right angle. So I just used to stainless nuts to extend the spacers. Done!

      Disappointed...

Sadly, as much as I appreciate not having to put holes in the bumper...the quick release pin completely corroded and 100 will not release the plate anymore. The product is less than 2 years old and no longer usable for removal. Holds the plate, but not straight either. A lot of money for some glaring problems.

Get this, you won't regret it

I was so close to drilling holes to install the license plate holder that came with the vehicle. Thankfully, someone mentioned I look into one of these brackets. It does what it needs to do, without ruining the front of the car. Not sure how it will hold up long term, but 4 months in it is still working out great.

      Mismatch

The original version i purchased eventually broke. So i thought buy another and slide it into the existing bracket. New version slide pins are far shorter. Had to use the glue again. It works but not as intended. You should be aware that installation is important as is lubrication on this product. All facets of install should bear this in mind. All said though, it really is the only option as drilling into the oem spots is nuts.
