Reduce Wheel Hop and Deflection. When warming up your Mustang's tires in the staging lane of your favorite drag strip do you experience unnecessary wheel hop? Well, almost all S550 drivers do. This is because the 2015 to 2018 Mustangs feature an Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) that is well known for deflecting under rapid acceleration causing loss of traction and excessive wheel hop at the track and on the street. By installing a BMR Suspension IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit you will virtually eliminate all troublesome cradle deflection and see an increased improvement in rear wheel traction for more impressive tire smoking burnouts with no wheel hop.

80%-90% Reduction In Deflection. The BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit uses lockout rings and locating washers to hold the IRS cradles inner sleeve bushings securely in place preventing the cradle from moving in any direction. During testing of the Lockout Kit, BMR documented an 80% to 90% decrease in fore/aft IRS cradle bushing deflection. A bone stock Mustang with no suspension modifications and factory tires will see a 90% or higher reduction in cradle deflection. Where a modified, more race oriented Mustang equipped with stickier performance tires will experience slightly less of a reduction. A BMR test vehicle launched at over 7000 rpm, on drag radial tires, saw about an 80% decrease in bushing deflection. Throughout the entire testing process BMR saw a 95% or higher decrease in vertical deflection under all testing conditions.

Centers IRS Cradle. BMR's IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit not only reduces deflection and wheel hop, but it also centers your Mustangs IRS cradle. Replacing the factory sheer plates, the included cradle braces perfectly centers the IRS cradle under the rear of your Pony. The frame side bolts of the brace locks the cradle securely in place, so that it does not move under any form of spirited driving.

Superior Construction. BMR proudly designs and manufactures their IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit right here in the USA. BMR's Lockout Cradle Braces are made from 1-5/8" diameter, heavy-wall DOM steel tubing for superior strength and extra rigidity. These Lockout Braces are then completed in a durable black hammer-tone powder coated finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

No Increase in NVH. BMR's IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit was engineered to drastically reduce bushing and cradle deflection with little, to no change in NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). Seeing that there is no noticeable increase in NVH, this BMR IRS Lockout Kit is perfect for street, auto cross and race applications.

Simple Bolt-On Installation. Installation of the BMR Suspension IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit can be completed in about two hours with just basic hand tools. This BMR IRS Lockout Kit utilizes the existing factory bolt holes, so no cutting, welding or extra modifications are needed. Please note that an alignment, by a qualified shop, is highly recommended after installation.

Application. This Red BMR Suspension IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit is designed as a direct bolt-on upgrade for use on 2015 to 2018 Fastback Mustangs equipped with the factory Independent Rear Suspension (IRS), including the V6, EcoBoost, GT and Shelby GT350 models. Not intended for use on Convertible models.

Will this bolt up if I have steeda subframes installed?

Hi. Would you recommend changing the Rear Vertical Links to aftermarket at the same time? Thanks.

    MikeR

    • If you have really bad wheel hop it's not a bad idea. You definitely can't go too overboard with correcting the wheel hop so it definitely can't hurt. You could by this BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit first to see if it's satisfactory enough as you may decide you don't need to fix the issue any further. However, with that being said, as I mentioned earlier it certainly wouldn't hurt, plus it makes installation a lot easier to buy them together/makes the installation cost cheaper considering this would be one trip to the shop.

Are these compatible with Steeda's subframe alignment sleeves?

    LCPLHank

    • They are indeed compatible, since the Steeda IRS Subframe Alignment Kit (item #390070) Is designed to work with a stock application, and the BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit is also designed to work with stock, than they will indeed work together.

I have an auto, stock tires, stock suspension, CAI/exhaust, no tune running 12.3s, will these make a difference for me? Only concerned with drag racing daily driving.

    racer6

    • If you are looking to heat up your rear tires and get better launches off of the line, this will be a good addition for you as the lockout bushing kit will reduce cradle deflection and give you better traction. For daily driving however, there is no rear difference except for the reduction in wheel hop as well.

Worth every penny and then some

Bought this for my brothers mustang. Very easy to install with the two of us. We were to dumb to read that it needed to be torqued so we spent a good 30 minutes borrowing a torque wrench. Took about an hour to install without that mishap. We dropped the car off the jacks and drove it around until it warmed up. Corners felt a bit firmer, nothing to dramatic. Then we got to a straight away. WOW it took off so much more aggressively!!! Wheel hop is almost gone. Still a little bit there but for the price it's extremely worth it! Tires smoke out now and it walks on Most cars now from a dig. Most Japanese sports cars fall behind at the start now and we're loving it. Absolutely worth it and handles like a true sports car now. I strongly recommend it, dont bother beong on the fence between this and some other wheel hop killer just buy these and be done with it. Great construction and very sexy red visible behind the rim, its worth it.

Fit perfectly, no issues installing. Minimizes wheel hop, does not feel as harsh during launch. Did not eliminate wheel hop. Minimal to no nvh.

      Excellent

The install was not easy or fun. I won't lie to you about that. It's a pita but no one said it would be simple anyway. But this is a verrrry good wheel hop killer. Go look up BMR's videos on youtube and you'll find one where they have a camera filming from inside the wheel well aimed at the stock lockout vs the BMR lockout. The effect it has is immense. I'm definitely content with the "Bang For The Buck" that this offers.

      A Better Stang.

This was a pain to get the sub frame bolts lined up but well worth it. The difference is huge the wheel hop is gone. What surprised me is how much more planted the rear feels in the corners the weird dip or flex the rear had is gone. . when I gave it the gas today I could feel the Diff Pinion rise. It is that solid . Getting Steeda bits in the Diff bushings next week. Highly recommended.

      Performance Must Have

A must have for the S550 to help eliminate wheel hop on hard acceleration. I used this kit with the Ford Performance Track suspension kit, now the car corners and accelerates like a true sports car.

      Should be a standard upgrade.

I got this with new 20s Mickey Thomson tires and the eibach sportline lowering springs. Burnouts and accelerating feels like a marble rolling on leather, super smooth. No wheel hop at all.

      Keeps you planted

This BMR kit really keeps you planted when you launch hard. I would say it stops most of the wheel hop. The car also jumps around less when you hit some bumps in the corners. It is a fairly easy installation to do your self, and if you are already doing your suspension this kit adds zero work time. Money well spent. This is for drag racing and corner carving.

      Rather surprising

Pretty easy kit to install. Took about 40mins on jack stands. Only perhaps arduous part may be lining up the big bolt holes, but even that may add perhaps 10 mins. This car is set up for pretty high level autocross competition at the national level. I always felt that IRS Mustangs have very sloppy feeling rear suspension. Way too much side to side and front to rear deflection. This kit really did eliminate a good deal of this. Acceleration is vastly improved with a dramatic reduction of wheel hop. Corner exit is improved since you can roll on the throttle pre apex with a pretty predictable reaction from the rear end. Overseer (drift) is a lot easier to throttle steer thru. I also added the Viking shocks and of course sway bars and end links and the total rework has made this GT a point and shoot terror in the autocross circuit.

      BMR Cradle bushing kit

Kit was pretty easy to install with car on a lift. Took about an hour. Havent driven the car too much since installing since on the test drive after installing this,Steeda subframe inserts and lowering springs on the last hard left turn I thought I broke an axle. Pulled into my buddy's shop where we installed this stuff and raised the car in the car and saw all the grease and the boot torn up on the rigth rear. Assumed axle broken. Next morning after a lot of tossing and turning, we got under the car and found he had left a flashlight on top of the subframe we used to see what we were doing when installing the rear BMR kit pieces and it rolled off and wedged between the boot and axle and tore it up. So, just a new boot and grease and she's ready. But I am out of town and cant drive her till Friday. Car seemed to handle much better. Much less body roll and chassis pitch under acceleration and braking. Didnt nail the throttle yet to test for wheel hop, Hoping it is much improved.

      Made a very noticeable difference..

Installed these myself, along with 2 rear Steeda inserts. Some suggest the inserts weren't needed as well, but I already had the set so installed 2 of them. After experiencing the tolerances of the car parts, and understanding better how this all works, it does seem like this kit from BMR is the best option possible to tighten up the movement in the rear cradle bushings, while centring it, without ANY noticeable NVH being added.
