Hey, guys. Stephanie with americanmuscle.com, here with an overview and an install of the Trufiber Carbon Fiber Dash Kit for the 2015 and newer S-550 Mustang. In this video, we're going to talk about a few different things with this kit. We'll talk about the components, the construction, and of course the install. Now I'll get into more detail in a minute about the install, but I can tell you right now that I'm gonna call this a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter. The Trufiber Carbon Fiber Dash Kit is gonna be for the S-550 owners out there that have a performance-packed car and want to change out the looks of the interior, but that don't necessarily wanna go with the vinyl kit. Nothing against the vinyl kits, but it's really hard to replicate the look of a true carbon fiber and you guys can see here, just by looking at the product, that this is a different type of kit. So this is a four-piece kit. So you're gonna be getting a center dash trim that's cut through the two gauges in the vents of the performance-pack cars. So if you don't have a performance pack, your dash looks a little bit different, and this kit is not gonna work for you. Other than that you're looking at two lower side dash trim pieces and a headlight switch trim. These are the most noticeable things on the dash, so the kit is gonna tie in those pieces and give you more of a complete look rather than just some random carbon pieces. The difference with this kit is the fact that it's made from real carbon fiber. All of these pieces are carbon fiber, so of course they're gonna be lightweight, but strong. The pieces are coated with a clear coat finish that's going to give them UV protection which is nice, because carbon fiber like this can fade over time if it sees a lot of sun and doesn't have any protection. The other thing that I did want to point out about this kit is something that's gonna separate it from some of the other options. These pieces are replacements for your factory parts. This isn't just a stick-on kit that goes over top of your factory dash. You're actually going to be replacing your factory parts with the items in this kit. I think that that's a big thing that pushes the quality of this kit above what you typically see for interior carbon. They're direct replacement pieces, so you won't have to do any drilling. And the fit of these pieces is just like factory, so you end up with a really clean look after the install. That leads me to price. This kit isn't what I consider cheap. You can expect to pay around the thousand dollar mark for it, but honestly that's not really all that surprising to me considering that these are all new dash pieces that completely replace your originals and the fact that this is real, full carbon fiber. Nothing that's real carbon fiber is ever cheap. Now if this is a bit much for you, you do have some other options like the vinyl kits that you guys can always check out instead. Like I mentioned earlier, the install isn't difficult. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You can expect to spend about a half hour to an hour to get the kit installed. Now I will say that nothing here is difficult, but I'd just be careful when you remove your factory pieces so you don't end up damaging anything. And I wouldn't over tighten in your carbon pieces either. Wrapping things up here with the Trufiber Dual Gauge Dash Kit. This kit includes four full Carbon Fiber Dash pieces. You're looking at your lower center dash trim, the center dash trim, and your headlight switch trim. These are direct replacements, not stick-on pieces, which make for a factory-like clean look and a merry install. Reduce Wheel Hop and Deflection. Do love lighting up the rear wheels of your Mustang at a stop light? Sure we all do. However, S550 owners seem to have to deal with more wheel hop issues than previous generations. This is because the 2015 to 2017 Mustangs feature an Independent Rear Suspension (IRS) that is well known for deflecting under rapid acceleration causing loss of traction and unnecessary wheel hop. By installing a BMR Suspension IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit you will virtually eliminate all troublesome cradle deflection and see an increased improvement in rear wheel traction for more impressive tire smoking burnouts.

80%-90% Reduction In Deflection. The BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit uses lockout rings and locating washers to hold the IRS cradles inner sleeve bushings securely in place preventing the cradle from moving in any direction. During testing of the Lockout Kit, BMR documented an 80% to 90% decrease in fore/aft IRS cradle bushing deflection. A bone stock Mustang with no suspension modifications and factory tires will see a 90% or higher reduction in cradle deflection. Where a modified, more race oriented Mustang equipped with stickier performance tires will experience slightly less of a reduction. A BMR test vehicle launched at over 7000 rpm, on drag radial tires, saw about an 80% decrease in bushing deflection. Throughout the entire testing process BMR saw a 95% or higher decrease in vertical deflection under all testing conditions.

Centers IRS Cradle. BMR's IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit not only reduces deflection and wheel hop, but it also centers your Mustangs IRS cradle. Replacing the factory sheer plates, the included cradle braces perfectly centers the IRS cradle under the rear of your Pony. The frame side bolts of the brace locks the cradle securely in place, so that it does not move under any form of spirited driving.

Superior Construction. BMR proudly designs and manufactures their IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit right here in the USA. BMR's Lockout Cradle Braces are made from 1-5/8" diameter, heavy-wall DOM steel tubing for superior strength and extra rigidity. These Lockout Braces are then completed in a durable black hammer-tone powder coated finish for aggressive good looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

No Increase in NVH. BMR's IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit was engineered to drastically reduce bushing and cradle deflection with little, to no change in NVH (Noise, Vibration and Harshness). Seeing that there is no noticeable increase in NVH, this BMR IRS Lockout Kit is perfect for street, auto cross and race applications.

Simple Bolt-On Installation. Installation of the BMR Suspension IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit can be completed in about two hours with just basic hand tools. This BMR IRS Lockout Kit utilizes the existing factory bolt holes, so no cutting, welding or extra modifications are needed. Please note that an alignment, by a qualified shop, is highly recommended after installation.

  • The SR Performance IRS Tie Down Kit and the BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit will perform the same function in the same manner. Both kits can be used in conjunction with the Steeda IRS Subframe Braces

Why won't this kit fit a convertible? Can it be modified to fit?

  • The convertible suspension is setup differently than the fastback since the weight has to be redistributed which is why this will not be able to fit.

  • I do not see why this should not work on the international spec Mustangs. There should not have been any changes in the IRS throughout the different models. Unfortunately since we have not gotten our hands on one to test this we cannot confirm that for you.

    Best Mod I have done to my 2016 PP GT so far

    I've really liked BMR products ever since I bought a set of their jacking rails for my S550. The fit and finish was perfect. The IRS cradle bushing lockout kit is no exception. The installation took about 2 hours, and that was with me taking my time. I have a set of ranger hydraulic quick jacks in my garage, so that did make things a lot easier, but the ole jack stand method would have been just fine as well. I strongly recommend having a good torque wrench when you start this project, I have snap on 3/8 and 1/2 inch techangle wrenches and the worked well here. The blue cradle bolts need to go to 129 foot lbs and that was a little tough. Also, IF you are not careful you could cross thread the blue bolts in the frame nuts, so be sure to thread the blue bolts in with your hand just to be sure you get them started correctly. The front bolts seem to be the most challenging in that aspect so you may have to wiggle the subframe a bit. I did modify the install a bit. I applied small amounts of pure silicon grease to the BMR metal parts that contact the factory rubber bushings. This is not necessary, just something I did to avoid squeaks and noise down the road. If you like that idea DO NOT use regular grease containing hydro carbons.... it will damage the rubber over time. Only use silicone. The first test drive was excellent. As one other guy here said, the car should have come this way from the factory. It feels SOLID! This kit is a night and day imporvement over stock with NO ride quality sacrificed as far as I could tell. Wheel hop is non-existant with the stock tires. I really could not be happier.

    Absolutely fantastic!!

    After upgrading the horsepower in my Mustang by installing an Edelbrock E-Force Supercharger, my wheel hop became an issue. Installing these cradle support brackets cured my problem. Car takes off smoothly with any amount of throttle. Well worth the money and a very easy install.

    16 California Special must have mod

    Get me wrong, I don't race my CS. The cradle lock-out takes traction-bars into Ford's 2015-17 Mustang. Tight, responsive launch, holds turns and stabilizes rear. Forget wheel hop. I'm back out in front, while other street freaks will be eating dust...and seeing my tail-lights.

    Actually rides better!

    No increase in NVH and feels much more stable going down the road, especially when cornering or in turns. Wish I'd done it when I first bought the car. Only about 1-2 hour install.

    Bmr cradle bushing lockout kit

    I have a 2017 pp Gt , it's full bolt . Every mod possible but the blower for now . This is easily the best mod I've done on this car ! The car handles like it's on rails and when I go wot in between gears the car feels like an automatic . It doesn't squat really hard like it used too . All your power is actually transferred to the tires now !

    Excellent Product!

    Install took me a bit longer than usual since i was taking my time, but it is really easy and straight forward. But the fun begins after the install, the car feels so planted, i am not all over the place spinning from 1-2nd gear shift like before. Didnt notice any extra NVH which is a plus. Over all the cradle lockout kit increases handling, eliminates wheel hop, and keeps that rear end planted. Worth every single $$$.. Should have done it sooner.

    Results!

    I always had this mushy feeling when pushing the car on some twisty roads. Nothing bad but I could feel the excess movement under the car. NO MORE! The mushy feeling is completely gone. Increased NVH is only evident on a very rough road, but not by much. The factroy should have done this from the start. I installed the BMR Cradle Lockouts on jackstands in about 2.5 hrs.

    Well worth the money

    These are a very good mod no matter what hp numbers you have. I paired these with a lowering spring and traction improvements were surprising. They advertise it reduces wheel hop, which it does, but it also drastically reduces that swimming feeling I was getting in the rear end under hard acceleration. It also helped with the clunking that comes with shifting the MT.

    Want better cornering? BMR

    BMR has hehank metlped many car enthusiast get around the corners and this product really helps the mustang S550. If your mustang isn't handling properly going through the twisty's install this with subframe bushings and you'll thank me later.     What a difference!

    Fairly simple install, just had to wiggle the subframe to get that last bolt to line up. No more wheel hop and no more mid corner button wiggle. NVH is almost nothing. Excellent first suspension mod.

    Should have been OEM

    As I said in my review of the BMR vertical links, BMR recommends installing this first. Although my order has not arrived, I installed and test drove this item, BMR vertical links, and BMR diff bushings on a friend's 2015 gt non PP. Install was complicated for a beginner like myself. But the owner knew what he was doing. If you don't have any way of raising the car securely, I would recommend installing in a shop. This should have been OEM material. The wheelhop is gone. But also, cornering feels more planted. This is solid bang-for-the-buck material. The car doesn't need more power, it needs the suspension to match the engine. This is probably the first and most important step in that direction.. *HIGHLY recommended.

    Works great

    Works great. Easy to install. Definately stiffened up the rear end and added no additional NVH. I also suggest adding the Steeda Alignment Kit for BMR IRS Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit. Together they make the entire IRS solid and straight.

    Lockout Kit Review

    The Kit with the Steeda Subframe Alignment Kit goes together exactly as the instructions show. Some prying is necessary from the rear bushing cradle mounts to line things back up. Since the same components are undone the IRS Bushing Inserts can be done along with it. Front bushings are difficult but can be overcome by using the wrench to push the short bolt into place.

    Perfect remedy for wheel hop
