Review & Install Video
Hey, I'm Alex from americanmuscle.com and this is my quick review and breakdown of the T-REX Black Aluminum Billet-Series Horizontal Upper and Lower Grille, fitting your 2015 through current Mustang GT V6 and EcoBoost. So in this video I'm gonna talk about the construction and materials of these grilles, who these may appeal to, and then lastly we're to hit on the installation. But right off the bat, I'm going to be giving these a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter, and you should have this pair on your Mustang in about an hour and a half.
So if you're the owner of an S550 and you're not really too thrilled with just how aggressive the front end of your car looks, I would definitely take a look at these T-REX grilles as you're gonna be adding a very bold statement and a ton of aggressiveness to the front of your Mustang. Featuring a unique five-bar design down low, as well as a nine-bar sculpted design up top, these are gonna mesh very well with either a light or a dark colored Mustang, in my opinion, as well as being sure to turn heads, be it on your daily commute or even at the track.
Take a look at the construction and materials here. It's evident right out of the box that both the upper nine-bar, as well as the lower five-bar, are definitely very stout and tough pieces of equipment just based on their weight, as well as how these are put together. Now, down to brass tacks here, guys, we're gonna see that these are gonna be comprised of a 6061/63 billet aluminum series. T-REX is then going to finish this off in a very nice looking black powder coat finish, which, like I said before, is gonna mesh very well with both light and dark colored cars. Now, that's not only there to make the front end of your Mustang look that much better, but it is there to prevent any type of corrosion, as well as ensuring that these grilles are going to hold up over a lifetime.
Take a look at the pricing here. You should expect to be spending right around 650 bucks for the set, which, in my opinion, while that's gonna be a little bit towards the top of the spectrum for a pair of grilles, you're gonna get away with a very clean and aggressive looking part for the front of your Mustang that's going to be comprised of quality billet construction, as well as allowing a little bit more air under the hood of your car. When shopping this in comparison to some of the other upper and lower grilles out there, if you're gonna be interested in buying a set, which I might recommend doing just for the overall look and your build, you may see the prices fluctuate, but that's gonna be dependent upon the actual materials used and how they're gonna be set up. So, if you're gonna be looking to spend something a little bit less, I would definitely suggest taking a look on the site to see some of the other options we have available.
Diving into the installation here, just like I had said in the beginning of the video, you're gonna be looking at a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. And to get both the upper and lower installed, about an hour and 30 minutes to get these on your car. So once you have your front fascia removed, all you're gonna need to do then is set that down on the ground. And I would definitely suggest either having some cardboard handy or a couple of towels, so that when you lay it face down you're not gonna be scratching the paint in any way, shape, or form.
So after your fascia's off the car, you're essentially going to need to pry the clips around the periphery of the factory grille with either a flat head screwdriver or a tough piece of plastic, and I would just add to be careful so that you're not damaging them. Now, once these are removed, you're essentially going to take the T-REX upper, put it right in place, and reassemble the fascia and grille. So taking a look at the lower grille, you're not gonna be looking at anything crazy here as this is essentially going to go right over your factory lower grille. So this is gonna install with some brackets and wing nuts, where you're essentially just going to tie them together with the provided hardware.
Just to wrap things up, here, I definitely have a couple final thoughts on these pieces. And, first and foremost, I am way into the quality construction of this upper and lower grille kit. These are hands-down some of the most quality parts that I have felt to date here for the S550 Mustang. And if you're looking to add a very bold and aggressive statement to the front of your car, I would definitely suggest checking these out.
