      Review & Installation Video

Hey, guys, Stephanie from And today we're gonna be taking a look at the X-Force Electronic Exhaust Cutout Kit in 3-inch for all '79 and newer Mustangs. This is a universal kit that you can place anywhere you see fit in your 3-inch diameter exhaust. It's gonna be for the Mustang owners out there that would love to be able to change their exhaust note on the fly, go from a normal sound to a much louder one in a few seconds. This kit uses an electronic butterfly and a switch to bypass your mufflers and cats, depending on where you install this, and create a wide open exhaust and then switch back whenever you want to. The kit cost about $200 and the install will be a three outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. So this kit has a few different pieces to it. You only get one Y with the kit, so just keep that in mind. But you get all of your electronic components, and the system even has a self-cleaning flange to help with exhaust residue buildup. You can always pick up another kit if you wanted to have dual cutouts. And keep in mind that this is made to work with 3-inch diameter piping. X-Force does make another kit that's for 2-1/2-inch exhaust, so if you have a stock exhaust setup or an aftermarket 2-1/2-inch exhaust, you'll wanna check that kit out. This is a universal kit, so it really can be installed anywhere in your exhaust that you want to. You can make it so it'll bypass your mufflers or bypass both mufflers and cats. Of course, every car will be different, and where you put it does depend on your exhaust setup. You wanna make sure that it won't be making contact with the underside of the car, other exhaust components, and that it's away from anything that hot exhaust should not be near. X-Force has been making variable exhaust for quite some time now, so you can only guess that they have everything down to a science at this point. They make full variable cat-back and axle-backs that are able to change sounds on the fly using the same key fob that comes in this kit. This kit's made to fit nicely and avoid having any exhaust leaks. The electronics are very similar to their axle-back and cat-back technology. So we've got the Y-pipe here with a cutout, but we're also looking at a wiring harness for you to wire in your switch to the cabin so you can activate the cutouts from the driver seat as you please. Of course, you'll need to cut your exhaust in order to install this kit. For that reason, we're gonna call the install a three outta three wrenches in the difficulty meter. You'll also need some basic wiring skills in order to wire up the cutout to the switch. As always, you guys can check this kit out more online right here at

I have a 2017 mustang gt all stock would i need one of these or two and does the 2017 mustang have a stock true dual exhaust system of is it a single?

      • All 2011 and newer Mustangs come from the factory with a dual exhaust system. You will require two of the X-Force Electronic Exhaust Cutout Kit for both sides of the exhaust.

      • The X-Force Electronic Exhaust Cutout Kit can either be welder or clamped to your existing exhaust system (Depending on your exact application).

I have a 2015 Mustang GT that came with electric cutouts but have no brand or any info to research them. They are on my exhaust close to the rear axle. The stock piping is 2.5" and I dont think theres 3" anywhere but I'm looking to put on a Borla atak 3" catback system but want to put on the right size cut outs. If I was to buy a pair and install them on that new system would I be able to wire it up to how the previous cuts outs are or would I need to stick with how these are suggested? The current cutouts are wired to a a switch installed under the dash of the driver side and by wire it up I mean to that switch to continue with the simple on and off switching rather than a fob.

Hi, i have a full corsa extreme catback exhausts on my 2017 Mustang GT coupe. I was wondering would this be compatible with making into an active exhausts? or it this only for quad tip owners? i have one on each side and was just making sure or if it would work at all on my car. I love my corsa extreme don't get me wrong but what would you recommend or a way to make my corsa extreme an active exhausts?

Am I able to pair two cutouts to 1 fob?

      • Unfortunately, I do believe that each cutout would need it's own fob.

I have a 13 5.0 and am curious if you cam run only one of these on my dual exhaust system, only because my exhaust is very loud as it is with no cats, long header and x pipe with flow master mufflers I’m trying to to just give it alittle louder only something, so one side would be open with the cut out and the other side runs out the back 1 answer

I do have a Mustang GT Premium convertible 2015. First question is if this really fit my car. I didn't see it from the bottom and I am a bit concerned with the extra piece of pipe... Second is if the flap is just open or close or you can have it kind of half open... 1 answer
Hi. I have 2004 Mach 1, current setup is BBK O/R X, and SLP LM1's. The setup is ridiculously loud. I recently got a fix-it-ticket due to California's new exhaust laws. Where would you recommend me putting the exhaust cutout at so it can be very quiet, or screaming when I need it to be. Thanks in Advance! 0 answer
