    Review & Install Video

Hey everyone I’m Justin with taking a look at a mod that’s sure to freshen up the look of your new edge mustang all while adding the aggressive style l and functionality of a projector headlamp. I’m talking about these chrome projector headlights for all 99-04 Mustangs. These lights feature a bright chrome housing which will help that OEM look all while adding the modern bonuses of a true projector style headlamp which will give you that focused beam of light that will greatly improve your nighttime visibility. Included in the package are both headlights which come preinstalled with H1 bulbs for your low-beams and H3s for your highs. However, since you will have these headlights out while you are installing them it wouldn’t be a bad idea to upgrade to a quality bulb from Raxiom or Sylvania. If you own a new edge Mustang but never worked on your headlights before, you’re in luck. These are by far and away the easiest headlights to work on thanks to their 2 tab mounting system, simply remove the 2 tabs holding your stock headlight in place, unplug the harness, reinstall the new headlights and you are done. It doesn’t get much easier than that and should only take you about 30 minutes. So if the headlights on your new edge mustang are starting to show their age and you want to replace them with something that still holds those OEM lines, all while adding the benefits of a modern day projector then you will definitely want to check out these chrome projector headlights for your ride.

Modern Design. Give your 1999-2004 Mustang a new look with a set of Axial projector headlights. These Mustang Projector Headlights have a sexy chrome housing that is designed to flow nicely into the lines of the "New Edge" Mustangs.

Superior Lighting. The Axial projector lenses light up the road ahead with a bright focused beam of light that not only looks great, but improves your night visibility. The lights feature a pre-wired harnesses and connector that plugs directly into your existing wiring harness for an easy installation.

DOT Approved. Equipped with H3 and H1 bulbs for high/low beams this pair of Axial Mustang Headlights are DOT (Department of Transportation) approved for legal street use under compliance # QR1300028.

Bulb application. These Axial Projector Headlights include H3 bulbs for their low beams and H1 bulbs for high beams. AmericanMuscle recommends high quality H1 and H3 replacement bulbs from Raxiom and Sylvania. See the drop down menu option above to select a new set of bulbs to go with your new headlights.

3 questions about the headlamps: > Which way do you turn the screws to adjust up or down? > Do the lamps have to be removed to make the adjustment? > Any way to get rid of the "shake" in teh light when going over small bumps?

    • The screws should adjust upward for clockwise turns and downward for counter-clockwise turns. The lamps do not need to be removed, however, it may be easier to remove the housing for those with larger hands. It would be difficult to say what the "shake" is being caused by, but I would highly recommend checking wiring connection as it could be losing power when you hit bumps.

Just installed the Axial Headlights. When on low beam, they appears to be aimed too low and I can see an uneven transition from light to dark in the upper portion of the beam. Can the low beam be adjusted slightly upward?

    • Hi, The headlight adjustments can be made on the back of the headlight The silver screw on the top left is the high beam adjustment. The gold screw on the bottom right is the low beam adjustment

Chris J. I asked this question before. Please explain how to access the high beam bulb, The bulb is offset from the square access port by about 3 inches. These's no way I can see to get a screwdriver on the retainer clip from the side.

    • Hello, Chris and I checked these headlights out, you are correct in the fact that the bulb is offset from the access port. This will make it difficult but that is the only way to access the bulb. To access the high beam bulbs you must remove the headlight assembly, then remove the 4 screws that hold the square plate then you can gain access to the bulb. I do not suggest modifying these Chrome Projector Headlights modification can cause your headlights to allow water inside and void your warranty.

How does one get access to the high beam bulbs to exchange the bulb? The bulb is offset from the access port and has to have its retainer clip unscrewed w a Phillips head screwdriver. There is no reasonable access to the high beam bulb that I can see except to bore a new port into the plastic housing and seal it w a rubber grommet or plug of some type.

Will this work with an hid kit? i bought an hid kit and i am wondering if it will fit into this headlight

    • The answer is Yes and No, depends on what your definition of works is. It will work but very unlikely will it work properly. In order for an HID system to work properly inside a projector assembly the HID light and the projector housing have to be matched. Because the projector uses a lens to focus the beam the HID bulb is matched to the lens by the manufacturer at a precise distance and angle so it will not only illuminate the road in front of you but will have a precision designed cut off angle so as not to blind oncoming drivers. Easiest and safest way for you and other drivers on the road is for you to purchase the HID bulb and projector already assembled in a package, its a simple retrofit from there. Just remove the projector assembly from the original and replace it with your assembled combo and your good to go.

      Ok, but not thrilled

They look nice, but don't fit as well as I expected. The had to send me a second set as the pass. side on the first was not even close. The replacement is better but I had to use some foam to shim them up into the fenders. Adjustment screws very difficult to use and don/t line up properly with mounts. They do look great though and light up the road nicely.

      Very Blingy Lights

These lights fit decently on the car, but that is where the good news stops. The lights are VERY chrome, and add too much bling for most Mustang fans' taste. The high beams and the low beams are adjusted by the same adjustment screws, which would be fine if the high beams weren't aimed about 20 degrees higher than the low beams to start with. To get a tolerable view with the low beams, I had to adjust the lights all the way up. This left my high beams lighting the treetops over 200 yards away, and not touching the road. If you DO want lots of chrome on your front bumper, then by all means, consider these lights. Do not expect much light output, or great visibility with either the low beams or the high beams. I would NOT recommend this product.

      Nice Headlights

Very nice and modern headlights. However I disliked the fact that the buyer has to seal them bf installing. I had to to it twice so the fog doesn´t accumulate inside.

      Look great, easy install

I just installed these and they look great and installation was a snap. After sealing and letting them dry it only took about 15 minutes to put them on the car and test them out, everything went perfect. I am a liitle unsure about how easy it will be to change the high beam bulbs as they are difficult to get to from the little hole in the back of the housing. Great product - easy install.

Great lights and easy installation. Hardest thing is opening the boxes. Just pull the 2 pins, slide out the old light, unplug the lights and reinstall the new lights. Makes your old looking front end look new.

These lights are actually pretty solid lights. I know that some Mustang guys don't like how chrome these are, but I sure do! They look hella good on my 2001 Performance red Mustang. The low beams will need some adjustment most likely, but that process is pretty simple. The high beams are REALLY bright and illuminate the road quite well.

      Chrome Projector Headlights

One of the easiest mod jobs that I have done on my 2001 Mustang GT Convertible. Removed the clips that hold the headlights and unplug the lights, then installed the park/turn signal light in the new unit, plugged them in , installed new headlights, put in the clips that hold them. Tried them and didn't even have to adjust them. Plug and play , couldn' be happier. Thank you American Muscle!

      Good Product

These headlights are good overall. They do light the road better than the stock lights, however it is a pain in the neck to adjust the beams. If you have your low beams lined up to your liking, the highs will be way off. I did not seal mines, and I have not had a problem with moisture or fog. Either way they give my mustang a new front look.

      Not So Good

Poor fitment on these. I broke one light trying to get them in, but AM sent me a replacement right away (kudos to AM!). I then figured out they weren't going to fit and had to dremel out part of the mounting area just to get them in. The rear parts of the lights don't fit at all to the fender. I tried adjusting with wedges and foam but they just wouldn't fit right. I went and bought new stock lights from Ford and moved on. Too bad as these were nice and bright.

      Worth the Money

I love these lights, and they make my car stand out from other mustangs. Looks real mean on the silver mustangs. They are great at night time. They light up everything.

      Looks Great and Great Service!

AM got me the parts in less than 24 hours, which is AWESOME!!! I will definitely buy from this place again. When I called in they took care of me. Thanks AM! If you are used to headlights where you can pull the bulb straight out, you cant do it for the high-beams on this housing. The headlights look awesome, though! So I am keeping them.

      Very good value

Easy to install, despite an imperfect fit (needed a little extra prodding) Also I've noticed a bit of "jiggling" of the light beams, something I hadn't noticed with the original OEM headlights. Overall, it was a great value, quick delivery, easy to install and looks really good!

So these headlights look good and thats where everything stops. The high beams will be up in the clouds no matter what you do. The projector lens is garbage. Do not waste your money.

      Issue after Issue

I bought these headlights to replace the etched lights that my car had. I sealed the lights with silicon but one light always attracted moisture to the point i had to drill a small hole though the bottom to drain then seal it back up. this has caused me to have more troubles with bulb blowing out on that one light. the moisture also eats away at the plastic/fake chrome inside the light leaving black stops on the reflectors or show pieces. My biggest problem is bulb replacement, the two lights ride on a cradle on the inside of the casings with screw mounts on the top right and bottom left corners, this is used for aiming the lights but to change the bulbs you need to screw the cradle all the way forward to have enough access to maneuverer the bulbs into the holes inside. Alignment is the issue, having two bulbs mounted on the same cradle with the same basic adjustment screws, so changing one moves the whole cradle. Also you cannot adjust the lights while mounted, they need to be pulled out of the mount leaving the length of the cable to work. Overall I like the look and the lens style for the dim lights but the overall package is worse then I had hoped when paying a premium over OEM.
