Justin from AmericanMuscle.com, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at AmericanMuscle.com.

More Power, Better Throttle Response. This easy to bolt-on PowerAid spacer from Airaid was developed to improve throttle response and to unleash the hidden low to mid range torque from your Mustang's engine, with tremendous torque gains seen between 800 to 2500 RPM.

Improve Fuel Economy. The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer not only improves the power and performance of your Mustang, but with its unique “Helix Bore” design it also maximizes fuel efficiency saving you money at the gas pump. The Whistle So, I've heard mixed reviews about the 'whistle' sound this spacer makes. Honestly, is it annoying like your belt is squeeking or is it a turbo type that sounds cool?

    LyonNinja

    • Personally, I love the whistle this part creates. In my opinion, it sounds more like a turbo whistle than anything else. When you're cruising, the sound kind of fades into the background, but you really hear it when you punch the throttle, especially between 2000-3500 RPM (in my case).

I know the website states that it will only work with the stock throttle body, but there's at least one customer photo of the spacer in use with the BBK 70mm. Soooo?

    Nathan

    • The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is specifically designed to work with the stock throttle body. It is not designed to bolt to an aftermarket throttle body.

so I cannot use if I buy the 70mm Sr or BBK throttle body?

    • Correct. The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is only made for use with the stock throttle body.

I just got a new cold air intake would u recommend a spacer ?

    JesusH

    • This spacer is designed to fit 2005 to 2010 4.0L V6 Mustangs with a factory throttle body and will help improve fuel economy, throttle response, and low end torque. This would be a great modification to go along with your new CAI.

      Ample performance mod

Less than 1/2 hour to install, throttle wires will have to be extended due to a fairly long stretch to plug them back in. Performance wise, decent upgrade for the price. Will be back on the dyno in May. Marked throttle response using true 97 octane (no ethanol) fuel and open intake.

      Cool little add on

This is a neat little product. Looks cool, sounds cool (I happen to like the whistle) and easy to install. Performance gains? ehh, maybe a little, but throttle response is definitely better.

      Stall in Park or Neutral

Installed this on the stock TB with a KandN CAI. The car would die once you put it in park. Also, would run rough when putting in reverse. Also, went to see what would happen if I put it in neutral and the car would die. Also, adding it on makes all the sensor wires really tight when plugging the sensors back into the intake and TB. Took the car to the local mechanic and they said at a standstill the grooves in the spacer chop the air up entering the intake causing the sensors to not read correctly and resulting in a stall.

      Good Product

Removal of the Throttle Body and Installation of the Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer on a 2009 Mustang was easy. The only caution I have, since this Throttle Body Spacer is wider than others is when placing the Throttle Body power cable back on, the cable will be very tight. Be careful not to pull too hard and pull the wires loose. Performance wise, there may be a slight improvement, can't tell for sure because we also installed a BBK Cold Air Intake. We will know more once we install the 70mm Throttle Body to match the Spacer.

      Like the RED

Easy installation, 10 minutes total. Only filled up once since installed, my mileage is up 1/2 mile per gallon. I do track my fuel mileage at every fill up. It's not a whistle I hear, but a deep power sound. The response is quicker, pick up faster and engine runs smoothly at all speeds. The idle is also smooth with the exception of a rough spot for a couple of seconds every now and than. I like it.

      Decent product

Very easy to install and quick, I actually like the whistle is makes it's almost exciting to hear it when I rev it up, wish it could of been a little cheaper though, I live in Canada and love American Muscle for their Mustang parts but it gets quite expensive at times and this was one of them coming up to a total of $233.

      Airaid Throttle body spacer

Airaid Throttle Body Spacer give my wife’s 6 Cylinder a little quicker response and I can hear it whistle some but not real loud. If I had another mustang I probably would put one on it too maybe in the future when I get a Gt. Hal H

There's a little boost in horsepower and the whistle sound definitely increases in sound with a cold air intake.

      Great torque adder

This item is a definite must if you want to feel that thrown in the back of your seat boost in power. It will definitely add torque in the low to midrange rpm's. It only took me a total of 1 hour and that was by myself

      The MPG is unreal!

Spacer is installed. I went from 23.9 mpg to 29.7 driving the exact same road I drove last night before the spacer. Considering the V6 mustang is rated 17 city/ 23 highway I'll call this a win. The low end torque is up as well. I barely have to tap the gas in 5th gear to accelerate. The whistle? It's more like a chirp and I only hear that in my garage with the hood up and windows down. Mission accomplished!

      Love it!

This was my first major under the hood mod for my mustang. The instructions were pretty straightforward and I had no issues at all. It has a very subtle "whistle" when you hit around 2500-3000rpms, not obnoxious at all. I love it and I'm looking forward using products from American muscle again!

Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer (05-10 V6)

This is my second Airaid Throttle Body Spacer. It works as expected. The only problem I had was with the bolts that came with the TB spacer. I have an aftermarket SandR Performance throttle body. The bolts that come with the throttle body spacer are hex head bolts. The fix was simple, I took one of the new bolts to the hardware store and found steel button head screws of the same length, worked fine. If your using the stock throttle body, you shouldn't have any problems. I have a performance tune, KandN cold air kit, E3 Diamond Fire spark plugs, Accel coil pack, and an SandR Performance throttle body. To top it all off, I have an x pipe with factory GT dual exhaust. This car is my daily driver and I spend most of my time driving between 0 - 50 miles per hour. I'm very much in tune with my car. The Airaid Throttle Body Spacer made a noticeable difference in the performance of my engine. This is not a supercharger or nitrous and you shouldn't expect that type of performance. If your on a budget, this is a nice little improvement to the performance of your engine. Whistle, what whistle? The only sound I hear in my car while driving is the rumble of the exhaust. Even at idle there is no whistle. Thanks for reading, happy driving.

      Good Product

I don't have any real problems with this I just installed today and it took less than an hour to do so. I just have a couple of little nit picky things about it for one I haven't really noticed any whistle yet even though mine whistled a little before i had any mods in it but that could just be me I have read different reviews about that and two mine didn't have the PowerAid logo on it which is really not that big of a deal it just looks cool it did however come with a sticker but it is bigger than the spacer. Other than that it is overall a good product maybe I will just wait a few days to notice any improvement and sound then I will rate it 5 stars.
