      Review & Installation Video

Justin from, we're here with Chris Thompson from Airaid. He stopped by the shop to tell us a little more about these great Airaid products. We're very familiar with Airaid; we use them on our project cars with great success. Chris, what can you tell us about Airaid that makes it so unique? "Everything we do is digitally designed. It's engineered to fit, it's engineered to work, it's engineered to work without any special tuning. Now, tuning is much, much better. You guys offer a lot of great choices in aftermarket tuning. It'll only enhance the performance of the Mustang. We design our intakes so there's no special gluing required, there's no cutting or hacking of the engine required. If somebody decided to put a stock intake back on, they don't have to go back to Ford to buy another part to put the piece back on. Every intake we do is digitally designed. It's all about the design of the airflow and the linear charge to the throttle body. We use the rotational molding not so much for the heat soaking, but for the shape of the tube we can come up with. By using the rotational molding, it allows us to really give the right shape and form to make sure the product works well." We're very excited—we've got our 2013 Mustang here, probably not even 10 miles on this thing yet, and we already have an Airaid intake on it. Tell us a little more about that. "This is awesome. We're really excited to be here today. This is the first Airaid intake on a 2013 Mustang. We're really excited to be here with you guys. As you can see it fits. We know for sure it fits. We believe we have a hit. We'll do a little bit more testing on it before we release it to the public, but that should happen anytime now." Now, you were telling me earlier, you're working with some legends in the Mustang world. "Well, we're excited about working with Parnelli Jones and his son PJ. Parnelli's been instrumental in helping us come along with the Boss 302 intakes we're trying to develop. Nobody knows the heritage of the Boss 302 better than Parnelli Jones. We worked with PJ on the side by side utility vehicles (Razors, Rhinos, and TRX's). We also sponsored him in the past on his endeavors in the American Le Mans Series, which he ran last year." Chris, thank you so much for educating us on your great Airaid products. And as always, you can find those great Airaid products right here at

Easy installation. sounds like I installed a turbo. Didn't notice any power gains. Acceleration is a bit better.

        Great buy

I honestly thought I wouldn’t price the difference with this spacer but honestly it sounds great. I have a v6 2010 4.0 and when I first put it on and went for a drive I heard like a little whine almost like a tiny supercharger. Overall great product

        2 2005 V6 - SGVA Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        It fit - barely

This was installed on a 2005 V6. The wiring harness on the throttle body must be stretched after installing this item. Not the best situation for fourteen year old wires, but it does reach. Installation was simple. In reference to performance, I’ve noticed no better mpg, there is no different sound to the engine, and there is no noticeable power or responsiveness. But it does look nice. A note on delivery: this item took a bit over a week to be shipped across the US. Upon arrival I received a used item.

        Throttle Body Spacer

I found the product easy to install. I did have a little issue because of the cool air intake I had previously installed. The cool air intake had to be adjusted in position because the TB spacer moved it forward. I could feel a better throttle response and could hear the air rushing to the engine. I was very pleased over all. My next step is a tuner.

More bottom end and a little better mileage

Easy to install. Gave me a little more on the bottom end Gave me a little better gas mileage Negative is that there is a little whine when under light acceleration, step on the accelerator more and it goes away

        2 2006 V6 - JoelE Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

Not the performance I was expecting

It's an OK product. It came with instructions and was packaged pretty well. It also was pretty easy to install it and it looks great on the car. It is kind of hard to know which orientation it is supposed to be in on the car. But I saw no performance Increase, or any increase in throttle response. The whistle that it's supposed to make was kind of annoying to me, but mine may have just been a fluke in the way it was made. But honestly you would be better off spending your money on a cold air intake or a performance throttle body in my opinion.

The Whistle So, I've heard mixed reviews about the 'whistle' sound this spacer makes. Honestly, is it annoying like your belt is squeeking or is it a turbo type that sounds cool?

      • Personally, I love the whistle this part creates. In my opinion, it sounds more like a turbo whistle than anything else. When you're cruising, the sound kind of fades into the background, but you really hear it when you punch the throttle, especially between 2000-3500 RPM (in my case).

so I cannot use if I buy the 70mm Sr or BBK throttle body?

      • Correct. The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is only made for use with the stock throttle body.

I know the website states that it will only work with the stock throttle body, but there's at least one customer photo of the spacer in use with the BBK 70mm. Soooo?

      • The Airaid Poweraid Throttle Body Spacer is specifically designed to work with the stock throttle body. It is not designed to bolt to an aftermarket throttle body.

I have a BBK cold air intake, can I use the spacer with it?

I recently installed this on my 2007 V6 but I hear more of a hiss than a whistle and I’ve lost nearly 2mpg since installing this. Any tips or ideas on what could be the issue ? I followed installation to the letter.

      • Try checking the gasket for any damage, as well as ensuring the bolts are tightened completely.
