Hey guys, Stephanie with AmericanMuscle.com, here with my review of this Carbon Fiber Dash Kit for the 2015 and up Mustang. The carbon fiber dash kit is going to be for the S550 owners out there, that are looking to change up the looks of their interior. Now there are a few options here. You can either go with a subtle change with a normal black carbon fiber or you can go all out and throw some color up in there with a red carbon design. Either way, the carbon fiber dash kit is an easy way to really customize the interior and give it some personalization. So like I just mentioned, there are some color options with this kit. You always have the classic, normal carbon fiber design which is more of a subtle change, but I'm still going to say that it totally changes the look and feel of the interior, and this is coming from sitting in a few cars that have this kit in them. But if you're really looking for an in-your-face design, or something that's going to match your exterior theme that you have going on, or maybe tie in your red leather seats, than there are two red options. This one on the table right here is a standard red carbon fiber kit. You can see this is pretty bold, and a bright red, and that's really going to pop against the black dash. But there's also a red aluminum version of this kit as well, if this red might be a little strong for you. The red aluminum is more what I describe as an anodized red color, and it's a little bit more toned down than this red right here is. Both of the red options do still keep the carbon fiber design though, so you aren't looking at just a flat colored vinyl piece. The carbon fiber design means that the vinyl is actually raised, and you can feel a little bit of texture here. The two red kits are slightly more expensive than the standard carbon fiber kit, and they're going to cost just over $100. The standard carbon fiber is currently about $15 less, if you'd prefer that option instead. So there are different types of vinyl, and this kit's made from a wrapping cast vinyl. It's a four mil vinyl, that's more durable compared to other vinyl, like calendered vinyl film, which is actually thinner. This type of vinyl is designed to hold up years, even in outdoor weather, so you don't have to worry about whether or not it's going to hold up in your interior. Another feature this vinyl has is air release technology. This is on the adhesive side of the vinyl, and it's not a feature that all vinyl has. And what this means is that there are miniature air channels on the adhesive side of the vinyl. These air channels give air that's under the vinyl a way out from underneath, so the air can easily be squeezed out. So this means a bubble-free install and wrinkle-free surface, and it's going to be especially nice for the larger dash pieces of this kit, where it would be a real downer to have any wrinkle or an uneven surface in the vinyl. So there are a lot of pieces to this kit, including all of the vent and gauge trim, no matter if you have a performance package or a GT350, or a non-performance S550, since they are slightly different. The kit includes an option for both, so you don't have to worry about selecting another kit or getting the right one. It's also going to have all of the trim pieces, from the door trim, to the instrument bezel trim, to the small places like the headlight switch trim, so everything's going to match after the kit is installed. The install here is not going to be difficult, and I'd say that anyone can complete it, even though it can be a little tricky, and is a little time consuming. It also requires a little bit of patience, because you're really going to want to take your time and lay the vinyl nicely. Another thing to keep in mind here that I noticed, is that this vinyl does scratch easily, so when you go to do the install, that's all the more reason to be a little bit more careful. And you're not going to want to install this kit in the direct sunlight either. You will need a spray bottle with a light soap and water mixture, a hair dryer, something to clean the dash surface with, and a hand towel, like a microfiber. Now just like laying vinyl on the exterior, you're going to want to start by prepping the surface well so that the vinyl can adhere. You can pretty much start with any piece of this kit that you want to, I just recommend starting with some of the smaller pieces, especially if you haven't done anything like this before. All you really have to do is lay a light mist on the adhesive side of the vinyl. You don't want to soak the vinyl at all. This mist is going to help you position the vinyl correctly once you lay it down, so you can really lay it perfectly. Once it's in the best position, just use your finger to smooth out the vinyl, and use the towel to wipe away any excess moisture that you get out from underneath the piece. This alone should be all you need for the smaller trim pieces, but you're going to want a hair dryer for the larger pieces of the kit, that you're trying to get to conform to the surface. Just be careful not to overheat the vinyl, because you don't want it to wrinkle. And when it comes to the largest dash piece of the kit, it would make things a lot easier if you have a helping hand to get the piece straight and on the dash quickly. Overall, you're looking at a one out of three wrenches on the scale, and about an hour's time to get the install completed.Wrapping things up here with the carbon fiber dash kit, this is a vinyl kit that has a carbon fiber design and a texture as well. You have a few different color options including a bright red, an aluminized red, and a standard carbon fiber option. The kit includes everything you'll need for the entire dash, no matter what model S550 you have, and it's easy to install. You can check these kits out more online, and for all things Mustang, keep it right here at AmericanMuscle.com.
