  • Yes you will, if you buy some plug in mil eliminators it will fix your problem or if you have a tuner you can shut the codes off

can this be used as shorty x-pipe later on ? my current exhaust setup is stock headers and stock h-pipe paired with flowmasters. I've been thinking about getting this x-pipe for a long time but my only concern is that at some point later on, i will be getting bbk long tubes (money willing) and I'm not sure if i can then just simply remove the 2 extension arms that connect the X figure in the pipe to the factory headers and re-use the x-pipe (which would technically be bbk's shorty x-pipe) with my long tube headers ? I looked at both bbk's shorty and normal x-pipes and the only difference i could find was the 2 extension pipes (how ever i could be wrong).

AMINGT2

  • Unfortunately not. The tubing lengths on this off-road mid-pipe are not the same as the shorty mid-pipe and therefore, they can not be interchanged. If you switch from stock headers to the long tubes later on, you will need to purchase the shorty mid-pipe at the same time for proper fitment.

I recently installed this on my 2004 Mustang GT. I noticed that when installing this it hangs down lower than the factory H Pipe did. I just wanted to make sure it was supposed to be lower or if I did something wrong and need to make further modifications. For example I can no longer go over speed bumps and often times scrape when pulling in and out of some driveways.

  • This mod-pipe is specifically designed to fit 1999 to 2004 4.6L Mustangs only and would not work with the V6 models.

This hot tin roof has NO cats....

If you MUST have catted x-pipes by law then what choice do you have?! IF you can go with uncatted x-pipes, then the BBK Off road x-pipe will deliver E V E R Y T H I N G American Muscles says it will. I can actually use 1st gear to pull smoothly away from a complete stop OR light up the NITTO's and bang my short shifter into 2nd & 3rd to hear the birds cherp (just better not miss the shift to 4th at 85 to enjoy the Flowmaster resonator music). No issue with stock 02 sensors and harness, perfect fit with BBK shorty headers and AM Thunder Exhaust. Nice exhaust note will put you to sleep on the interstate at 2K RPM OR open up that Accufab TB to 3~5K and get the H.E.A.T.'s attention. A diablo tune will put your fuel mix, aft 02 sensors and octane all in line, add the typhoon manifold and cams and we will see you on 'Pass Time'...... CAUSTION: DO NOT REV YOUR MUSTANG WITH THESE OFF ROAD X's because car alarms will go off.

    outstanding

i ordered this X-PIPE system because i read nothing good about the pypes brand X-PIPE system and did not want to gamble with my money but i am a happy customer i got my X-PIPE in 3days after ordering it and got it on that same afternoon i took it to an exhaust shop the mechanic said it fit fine everything lined up it only took him about a hour. this system sounds great it is loud i love it its definitely a head turner if you order this you will not be disappointed. the only reason i gave it four stars instead of 5 was the cross over section of the system had a little blemish of it but that is no problem to me just being honest but i still love it great work BBK and AM.com

    Great

Really easy to install. BBK always makes great products. It really opens up the car with my bbk cai, 78mm tb, roush side exit pipes and a bama custom tube. This is what mustang should sound like. Had to get new o2 sensours for the frount, the rear ones are turned off with the tune so no need for mil eliminators.

    Disaster

Absolutely terrible. Do not buy this product unless you are looking for a big headache. I thought this would be a one day job because the description says it will bolt right up to the stock manifold, wrong. This project has turned into a 3 week process as I can only work on it on weekends. Reason why you shouldn’t buy this number 1, the driver side flange that comes on this BBK x pipe does NOT seal. Poor design is the problem here, the flange literally tightens down before the pipe does, which leaves the pipe not sealed and loose. To fix this problem I had to buy a separate flange that lined up with the manifold studs. Then cut it and weld it around the BBK x pipe so that it would do what a flange is supposed to do, seal the pipe. My next problem was with the connection between the x pipe and the mufflers. The ends of the x pipe were almost exactly the same as my mufflers. To get them to seal properly I had to angle the pipe upwards which didn’t allow me to tighten down the manifold ends correctly. This created a mismatch between the manifold portion and the muffler portion of the x pipe and put a ton of stress on the clamp that BBK provides. I didn’t feel comfortable leaving the pipe the way it was because I just couldn’t get enough meat on both ends of the clamp to tighten it down completely and seal up the huge leak it was causing. So I went to a muffler shop and had them weld the clamp to both ends of the x pipe. Finally once I got the pipe on and I started it up ready to hear that awesome sound all x pipes should make, let’s just say it was very disappointing. Yes, it was louder and the tone it make in idle is ok. However, after taking out for a spin I quickly changed my mind. The x pipe makes a very awful sound when shifting. Basically, when decelerating from 3 or higher rpms it sounds bad. Poor design, poor sound, and way too much time involved is why I gave this x pipe the review I did. Do Not Buy.

    Good for the money

Installation of this product is easy, the removal of the stock mid-pipe is what can be tricky. I was unable to get enough torque and leverage on the ratchet with the swiveling ratchet on the passenger side using the method as shown in the instructions, so i dropped the starter in order to get better angle, leverage, etc. After that, istallation was easy, bolted right up and fit well with my aftermarket SLP exhaust, also much easier to tighten and loosen the bolts at the manifolds on the new mid-pipe as their are now no cats or pre-cats to work around. For 2004 GT models you will need 02 extensions as well as the MIL eliminators if you don't want to trigger any codes. Noticable changes in sound, moderate gains in performance.

    fits great!

awesome pipe. fits awesome, i put some of the pypes high flow cats on mine and it was just the sound i was looking for. mine has some small leaks where i put on the cats but only because of the questionable way pypes designs their stuff, but the BBK pipes and clamps are perfect with no leaks not even where it bolts to the manifold.

    Great set of mid-pipes

I installed these pipes on my 04 mach 1 and they did not require any cutting! They fit great and have that raspy x-pipe sound I was looking for! It took me a little bit longer to install then it should just because I was doing it outside in single digit temperatures. But overall great pipes and fairly easy to install

    Extremely Loud

I love the way this X-Pipe sounds. I have it mated with a set of flowmaster original 40 series mufflers and I must say "It is LOUD". but it has a really nice tone to it. Definitely turns heads and recieves plenty of compliments. The only problem I had installing it was where it bolted up to the the left side manifold. I had to extract the original manifold studs and replace them with bolts. Also had to oblong the holes on that the left side flange because the holes where spaced to far apart. Other than that little side track, it fits perfectly, tucks up nice and tight gaining more ground clearance for them pesky speed bumps. I recommend this x-pipe if you want your car to be loud.

    BBK X Pipe

Honestly, I'm not impressed. I expected much more out of this. To me, it looks similar to the bassani design so I thought it was worth a shot. Needless to say, my catted Pypes X pipe is going back on. This is a good x pipe, don't get me wrong. I just personally don't like the sound. I love raspy sounding exhausts, but this one blurps and blaps more than snaps, know what I'm saying? Anyways, this would be good for you if it's what your in to. It's just not for me.

    2001 Mustang GT, Borla stingers.

we bought this x pipe for our GT after buying the borla stingers mufflers. The sound was weak and not mean enough. So we got this x pipe. First thing we noticed was the sound is basically amazing. Perfect GT sound at about 3800 rpm.. The fitting was kind of a pain in the driver side manifold. And hangs lower then we had hoped. But for the price. It's a great sounding, power gaining peice.

    A must

This is a must if you plan on putting an exhaust on your stang. I have bbk shorties, bbk o/r x, into flowmaster 40 series mufflers, and it sounds amazing. Definetly a head turner. But be careful where you live, i normally dont take the car out after 11 p.m., your stang will be quite loud and wake the neighbors. Also when buying make sure you get yourself a pair of o2 sensor extensions, you'll need them if you dont have a tuner to shut the codes off, and some mil eliminators.
