If I bought this could I add my own catylatic converters?

    DustinC

    • The BBK Off-Road H-Pipe is not designed to add catalytic converters but if you wanted to go that route, I would suggest taking it to an exhaust shop and have them modify it to your particular specifications.

      Very throaty

I actually just removed this h-pipe to install longtube headers on my 96 GT. Worst mistake of my life. The deep throaty tone of my GT is gone now :( Paired with the Flowmaster catback, I had easily one of the best sounding exhausts in my area. Seriously considering removing my headers just to swap back to this midpipe.

98 mustang gt, my cats were plugged. needed new ones. this midpipe is way cheaper than new cats (tho illegal) and sounds amazing. paired with my flowmaster 40 series catback system my car sounds like a monster. Ive fallin back in love with my car even more than when i first bought her! If you want to transform your mustang into a racecar, get this. Also took me a while to decide between an x pipe and h pipe, but after listening to alot of sound clips from both i chose the h pipe because it has a deeper, smoother tone, compared a rougher higher pitched tone from the x.

strong and deep old school sound

Glad I decided to go with this H pipe, easy to install and sounds like my old 71 Mach 1. Now my mild mannered 96 GT thinks Carroll Shelby built it.

      Mustang comes to life!

Used a lift to install this pipe. Make sure you ease the bolts out, or otherwise you're crack the manifolds. Past that, everything goes into place with some hard work; took about an hour and half. AMAZING SOUND!! This with Flowmaster Super 44s make the car sound amazing. My friends call it "The best sound any car has ever made" haha. Just note: For Automatic Transmissions, the left side pipe will need to be dented to have the clearance for the shift cable. Just bang the space out with the hammer and it will go in.

      Sounds great,nice improvement.

Put this on in an afternoon. Install was not bad on 97 gt vert auto. You do have to make the dimple@ shift linkage. Car pulls harder and the sound is right on. Deep exhaust note coupled to a 3" bassani cat back. gets a lot of looks now. AM has great service, have used them for yrs and will continue to do so.

      Awesome

I installed this H-pipe on my 98 GT paired with Flowmaster 40 series exhaust. Really woke her up, plus with the setup im running, you totally feel the gains from this h-pipe. Very good quality product. Only downside was on Autos you gotta clear the shifter linkage.

      Fantastic

What can i say, this product is just fantastic. This was my first venture into modifying exhaust but i did a ton of research before i settled on this mid pipe. As far as sound, this was the clear winner. Beats x pipes by a long shot. The fit was perfect, BBK did an amazing job getting this to fit the stock exhaust location. The longest part of the installation was removing the old mid pipe. The bolts holding it to the headers were on there GOOD. You'll some decent extensions (i broke one during the process) and a pretty long breaker bar, even if you've had the blots soaking in WD-40 for a few hours. You will also have to remove the O2 sensors before you can get the old mid-pipe off. It would be much easier to take them out with the pipe off but they are in the way of the bolts on the headers. I paired this with the magnaflow magnapack and the exhaust note is incredible. Super loud, especially in town with lots of building around for the sound to bounce off of. Will definitely turn heads. Lots of compliments. Don't expect to sneak out of the driveway at night any more though.

      Sounds amazing

Great sounding h-pipe, even with my stock mufflers still installed on the car. Can definatley feel the power it released by removing the stock 6 cats. If you have an automatic though you will need to dent the pipe in where the shift linkage goes into the tranny, other than that it fits great!

      great value

The fit and finish was excellent. took about 2 hours to install simply because old h -pipe was a bear to get loose without breaking studs in manifolds. BBK H-pipe fit perfectly, sound is unbelievable with flow-master mufflers, but is not to loud. the only thing I am going to change is the clamp for crossover is bulky and either sticks up to far or down to low, I am replacinging it with clamp band type seal. This is the only problem I seen and is trivial. Thanks to BBK for quality product.

      Wake up the neighbors!

Had these installed today, after installing the Flowmaster cat back with the 44s. What a difference, the car sounds like a Mustang should. Only word of advise, mine is a 96GT and the manifold to h-pipe bolts were rusted in real good. I'd recommend, if you don't have a lift, take it to a shop to have them put in. Also, O2 sensors are a heck of a lot easier to access now.
