    Ask a Question

If these are paired with the Kooks 1-5/8 in. x 2.5 in. Stainless Steel Long Tube Headers for a 2007 v6, would they fit? And also, would the sound from the Kooks 2.5 in. Catted H-Pipe be the same/as loud as it would with an x pipe?

    ConnorB

    • The BBK Off-Road X-Pipe are designed to work with the BBK 1-5/8 in. Ceramic Long Tube Headers, item # 56038, (https://www.americanmuscle.com/bbk-ceramic-headers-2005.html). They will not bolt up correctly with any other aftermarket exhaust components.

Will this fit on a v6

So by the description and previous questions asked, this is obviously meant to be matched with the BBK ceramic LT headers for a 05-09 GT.. my question is, will this work with Borla Atak cat back exhaust? The tubing for this is a 1/4th inch bigger than the Borla Atak cat backs. Just wondering if exhaust shops will be able to make this combo work.

    CoreyF

    • The BBK Off-Road X-Pipe for long tube headers is designed to work with stock cat-backs, and the Borla ATAK Cat-Back Exhaust (item #29029) is also designed to fit with the stock mid pipe. So, being that they are designed to fit their stock counterparts, it's safe to say they will work together! I will post the link to the Borla cat-back in question below: https://www.americanmuscle.com/borla-atak-catback-0509gt.html

Hey you guy's doing here at American Muscle? Just want to ask this quick question on that I have an '06 GT of with PYPES Mid Pipe of a standard size that it's an X-Pipe that I have is that I want to switch out from that version to an off-road H-Pipe instead and getting the BBK Longtube Headers as well here soon but on not sure which brand on getting yet but which to get yet but I'm to good on knowing much that on cars, it's my older brother that knows much more on that than me but still want to ask you guys too and will the BBK still work with the PYPES Off-Road H-Pipes brand as well?

    Ghaleon6270

    • The BBK long tube headers will require for you to use the BBK Off-Road X-Pipe or another Shorty BBK mid pipe for long tube headers for the proper fitment. The Pypes Off-Road mid pipe will not properly fit without custom modification.

It says for BBK headers, does that really matter? I have Kooks long tube headers. This would still fit correct?

    Ty

    • Hi, You should always match your mid pipe and header to assure proper fitment using different brands can cause exhaust leaks.

      best sound

I use to have the catted shorty x mated with BBK long tube headers, but the offroad x is the way to go. Much deeper, more aggresive exhaust note. I have a tune on my car, so no cel at all. This is a much better choice than a catted one, however, its good to have the catted one as a backup for inspections

      o/r x pipe

the bbk o/r x pipe is the best compliment to the bbk long tube headers. I also have a catted x pipe, but i'll tell you that the o/r x pipe sounds waaaayy better. You get a much deeper growl and turn heads everywhere. I have zero dislikes about this part. If you are a DIY person like me, its as simple as jacking the car up, crawling underneath and undoing a few bolts...very simple. This along with an SCT bama tune from AM, no CEL, and superb drivability. There is also no drone in my car either. I highly recommend this product if you want your mustang to sound badass

      Bang for your buck

I just bought the BBK longtube headers with the BBK off-road X-pipe,and boy what a difference. Can feel the extra horsepower that was robbed from the dealership. To feel the true power you will need the SCT tuner.I already had Aero Turbine mufflers on and now it is really loud. Thanks AM

      Didnt match

I have ordered BBK x-pipes before and all have matched up perfectly, this one did not. The miss match is about 1/2 an inch, so I had to get is custom fitted to the car. Have the install done by a pro may cost a little bit more but its worth it.

      BBK Shorty X-Pipe (Off-road)

I just installed this midpipe with the BBK ceramic long tubes. The off-road midpipe is an excellent complement! Without cats the car roars and sounds very aggressive! It was a very easy installation. Only took about 20 minutes after installing the headers. Make sure and get a set of O2 sensor extensions though! Great product, great buy!!!

I paired this with Borla Atak exhaust and BBK long tube headers. It's the loudest I've ever heard and I get constant complements on my exhaust.

Problems but got it to work

After having a shop install the headers and X-Pipe I noticed after a couple days a rattle coming from the floorboard of the drivers side. It turns out the hanger (which I assume is for auto trans since they don't hang from anywhere on manual) was hitting the floorboard. Had to go back to my shop and problem was solved by flipping the X-Pipe 180 degrees.

BBK has good products but with the x pipe have to stretch the left side for remaining in the headers.

      Amazing backfire

I paired this x-pipe with bbk headers and bassani axle backs and it sounds sinister! It backfires every time I downshift: it definitely turn heads. I would recommend this product to anyone that wants to raise the decibels on their stang by 150

      Bbk x pipe

Didnt quite fit like it was supposed to even with the bbk longtube headers, i had to heat up the hangers and bend then backwards and inwards so that the whoke x pipe could advance enough to connect to the headers. Other than that it is pretty much exactly as you would think an offroad x-pipe would sound, loud and raspy. I currently am using it woth the longtube headers and mac axel back but will probably put a muffler delete on soon!

      Great with one set back

This off-road xpipe is fantastic and definitely worth the purchase. With ease of Install and the sound is great except for one thing, the raspiness of it is just a little to much i like a little bit but sometimes it can be too much and it makes it sound a bit stupid but other than that its great and i did expect it to have rasp but not as much

Very Disappointed in BBK with this product.

After about a year of having this product installed, I have noticed that the weld that should hold the "x" portion of the exhaust pipe together has come apart. I am very disappointed with this product. I have been very loyal to BBK when building my GT (CAI, throttle body, long tube headers, and this x pipe). I had my car on a lift while changing the oil and noticed a half inch gap between the pipes. This completely defeats the purpose of an exhaust system and now I will be required to buy another x pipe. I will definitely not purchase another BBK product.
