why won't this product work with an earlier fox? is it simply the fact that its a carburated motor? I have a '79, and will soon swap to a later 5.0 out of a later fox. will it work then, or are mounting positions different?

        • This BBK Performance Strut Tower Brace is designed to fit the 1986 to 1993 Mustangs equipped with the 5.0L V8 engine, including the LX 5.0, GT and SVT Cobra models. We can not guarantee proper fitment for a '79.

The item came with a few chips in the paint and some of the washers provided with the hardware were rusted. The install took about 1-1.5 hours and I had to do a little cutting and maneuvering with the intake (also a BBK product) but made it fit. Once installed though, the handling is tremendous. It makes contact with the top of my plug wires which I don’t like too much, but for the handling gains I will most likely keep it installed.

            Well constructed and nice looking

Well it is going to take some work to install this, it seems my engine config is a little too modded for this to fit without fabrication. I would say with a stock setup you will be fine but I had no way of knowing the problems I was going to encounter with this bar, this is not a fault of the design or manufacturer, it is the setup under my hood. The motor has taller mounts, a spacer for the intake and a large performer intake. The main issue is the bar hits the distributor. Again the product is as promised. I just did not know much about these and bought a heavily modded car. I will get it in there but it is going to take some math, fabrication and time. That is the fun of cars though. All in all it is a great product for stock applications.

Tighten that loose front end up with this brace

I was hesitant about buying this brace because I didn't think I was going to fit right being that you have to drill holes. but after all was done the results are pleasing. You'll have to have a friend there to help and takes about an hour and a half. The only problem was the oil cap is kind of tricky getting off because the bar is so close.

            Big improvement

Bought this strut tower for my '91 LX convertible and not disappointed. Fits great and has virtually eliminated the flex in my car, handling and suspension are much improved!

            Must have for handling!

Installation was not hard at all. Just new some drill bits and a power drill and your pretty much ready with basic tools. The handling improvement was quite noticeable and I truly recommend this before any suspension upgrade. Fits nicely and all around awesome!
