    Currently running a Borla S-type catback with catted long tube headers but it’s just a little too loud and raspy, how much power if any should I expect to lose by replacing the x-pipe with this resonator? And would I need a re-tune?

    • The Borla Touring Resonator Muffer will not provide any significant flow restriction in the exhaust. horsepower losses over an x pipe would typically be one hp or less. no retune would be required.

    I have a 2017 GT-PP, and currently have a custom muffler delete/axle-back with the stock resonator and cats. It sounds good, but I'd like it to be a little bit louder and have a deeper tone, but not as loud as an H-pipe with no mufflers. I know this will require cutting and welding (which is not an issue). My question is, how much louder will my exhaust be if I install this Borla resonator, compared to the stock resonator? Can y'all please do a video showing a before and after install of this resonator with a muffler delete like the MAC Boom Tube? This axle-back is VERY similar to my custom muffler delete, as mine uses 4x18 tips.

    • If you are looking to keep your existing custom exhaust and gain some sound it may be best to remove your resonator and replace it with just a hallow pipe, the Borla Touring Resonator Muffer is a muffler and may make the vehicle even quieter.

    2017 GT. I have a Ford Performance Touring Cat Back (made by Borla) will this be a direct bolt on to the x-pipe? I'm looking to lower the db of the Cat Back.

    • That is indeed correct. The exhaust kit you have is designed to work with an otherwise stock Mustang. At the same time, this Borla muffler is designed as a direct bolt on with an otherwise stock application as well. So, being as they both fit their stock counter parts, it would be safe to say they will indeed work together!

    Can this be fitted with another exhaust not borla if i take it to an exhaust shop for a custom job?

    • Unfortunately, these mufflers will not work with another exhaust system other than Borla. However, an exhaust shop may be able to fabricate the muffler in order to get it to work with your set up.

    If this is added with the Ford performance sport will it be louder than the touring or the same?

    • The Ford Performance Sport exhaust will already have a more aggressive exhaust tone when compared to the Touring. Adding this resonator muffler will definitely add a slight increase in the sound of the Sports.

      Mufflered H-pipe

      This thing is well made. It fit exactly the way it's supposed to fit. The priced is a little high for what it is unless you consider how much a set of mufflers actually cost. Then, this is a steal. IF you're buying this to quiet down your ATAK system, it's perfect IF you want something louder than stock but not obnoxiously loud. The caveat to that statement is the fact that I have Pypes Catted LongTubes and the 2.5" ATAKs, so this thing put it noticeably above stock when you're on it, but not so much when you're cruising 75-85 mph in top gear or idling. IF reducing volume is your main concern, you can't go wrong here. The exhaust note sucks. There I said it. The characteristic x-pipe rasp is all gone. This is just a mufflered perforated H-pipe that lowers the frequencies and adds a "thump" to replace the "scream". If I hadn't had the x-pipe before I installed this it probably wouldn't have been so obvious. And maybe with stock cats and manifolds it's not. But with LongTubes and the ATAKs... Ugh. The one star exhaust note is due to personal preference and shouldn't be construed as a negative as far as the quality of the product overall.

      I'm almost positive this thing is quieter than the stock resonator. I replaced my x pipe with this because i'm moving to an hoa, and with my flowmaster outlaws which is pretty much straight pipe this thing is stupidly quiet. Its almost silent on the highway, I need high flow cats or something now. Great quality and great sound just a little too quiet for me.

      Catless Long tubes S Type FTW

      Catless long tube boosted car with the x pipe sounded good but was also loud enough to hear my car doing pulls over a mile away. Wanted to tame it down a little and get rid of the rasp. Initially it was quieter than I wanted but after a month on the car its about perfect. Really tamed the cold starts and lower RPM cruising volume but still rips at WOT. Overall tone is deeper.

      Okay, so you can’t go wrong with Borla and American Muscel, first I installed, on my 2016 S550 GT Convertible, the Ford Performance by Borla Cat-Back Sport exhaust, wow what a system and great enhancement. The only issue, this system is high on the Wake The Niehbors scale, I should have just gone Touring and I would have been set, but I choose aggressive. So the solution, changed the X-Pipe to the Borla Resonator, cuts the raspy highs, but all the meanness remains, great upgrade from stock, but better suited and in my opinion better sounding, especially for occasional or daily drivers. Very pleased. It took me a little over two hours, but on a convertible you need to remove the A-Frame support before working on exhaust, I think it’s 16 b.olts so it’s time-consuming... hardtop I think an hour.
