I bought the ford racing cobra jet intake with the 65mm twin throttle body for my 2014 mustang gt. Do I need this Kit for the fuel line and vapor line to install this on my car?

    CodyN

    • This is needed specifically if you have the stock airbox when installing the BOSS 302 Intake Manifold. It is not needed for the Cobra Jet Intake Manifold.

do i need this kit for installation on my 2013 CS/GT with an Airaid CAI?

    Pawlak

    • Because you have an aftermarket CAI, you will not need the Ford Performance BOSS 302 Intake Manifold Install Kit (11-14 GT) as the CAI will bolt up directly to the intake.

    • Since you have a aftermarket intake you will not need the Ford Performance BOSS 302 Intake Manifold Install Kit (11-14 GT) or anything else. The manifold should bolt up to the intake.

      Great, but missing one piece

The boss intake is a great piece. It adds a lot of high rpm horsepower with the correct tune. The install kit leaves a bit to be desired. This kit is missing the electrical connection for the purge valve. You have to splice the wire after instillation. The electrical connection is at the front of the manifold on the passenger side, after instillation the connector is moved to the driver side behind the manifold. For 200+ bucks I would think this would be included.

      Must have for Boss Intake

I purchased this install kit along with the BOSS power pack. After reviewing the BOSS Intake installation instructions from another AM customer, I did not like the idea of relocating the stock purge valve. The original directions say to delete the purge valve, but with any new engine, disconnected electrical connectors and unused parts may cause an engine light. Yes you still have to relocate the purge valve elecrical connector, but its only 2 wires. I made my own harness; cut the connector, heat-shrinked the connections, cut 2 16 ga. pieces of wire about 15" long, wrapped it in electrical tape, and used 3/8 plastic wiring harness available at any auto parts store and routed it along the factory harness to the back left of the new purge valve. I did not use the factory air tube because I ordered a CAI. The new purge valve is the main piece you will need with the bracket, and one other of the lines in the kit. That's the reason I rated the price 4 out of 5. No engine lights after start up and 100 miles, so I'm happy. If you are hesitating on this part, and have ordered the BOSS Intake, don't think twice. It makes the BOSS install much easier, and in my case, no engine lights. The minor fabrication of the harness is much more easier than the alternative of relocating the purge valve. It makes for a much cleaner factory look. I used blue wiring harness to designate aftermarket harness, but you can use black. Just make sure you do it neatly and zip tie it.

      boss 302 manifold install kit

First off if you are planning on installing the boss manifold I highly recommend ordering this kit with the manifold otherwise you will be dealing with a check engine light and a "check fuel inlet" message. And eventually dtc's of running too lean..so do yourself a favor and do it right. This kit doesn't come with everything you need but what is lacking is no big deal. What you need that isn't in the box..18-22 gauge wire, enough for relocation of the plug into the rear of the manifold (be sure to mark wires before wrapping them together with electrical tape), 4 wire connectors..3 zip ties (to tidy of loose wires) and a 3/8 fuel line removal tool for removing the original fuel line..this info should keep you from making more than one visit to the auto parts store. Also in case anyone is wondering, this kit does work on the 2013.

      Stock look

This kit is easily installed and gives the completed install a stock look. Only problem is, if you are installing a CAI you don't need the intake tube and there is no real reason to replace the fuel line, so you are paying $200 for two fuel purge valve lines.

      Install Kit

This install kit is great if your going to be using your stock CAI. The stock tube is larger than the one in the kit, when I installed the original tube I realized the angle was sitting much higher and my hood would not close without really putting a lot of pressure on it, after looking around and taking it off and comparing the two I noticed underneath the tubes is are 2 not sure what to call them but extensions on the tube, they are right below the 2 hoses that have to be reconnected. Anyways when comparing the 2 tubes the one in the kit is much smaller and sits in the bay properly so you can close the hood with now problem. You also get a new purge valve and fuel line hose, the purge valve hose connects perfectly to the new location of the purge valve on the mani and looks as if the car came that way. So if your staying stock CAI I highly recommend this purchase, if you have an after market CAI then just use the instructions from the customer submitted install on the Boss intake.

      One more cable would help

I bought the install kit because it says it has everything you need to install the intake. I wish it would include an extra cable with a connectore so you don't have to splice wires to complete the install.

      BUY This

If you are spending the money on the Boss 302 intake manifold upgrade, then buy this kit. It fits perfectly, is easy to install, especially if you separate the fuel line and reuse the OEM one. I have not driven the car since install, but it started up immediately after priming fuel, and sounded great? Let you know in the spring, after tune, about performance. My install time included the install of the manifold. You can install this kit alone in 1/2 hr

      The Good, Bad, and Ugly

I didn't like any of the work a rounds that I saw to get the job finished so I purchased this install kit. Like a lot of the reviewers, for the price, why not include a wiring extension for the purge valve? I already had an aftermarket CAI so didn't need the air inlet tube and the fuel supply assembly includes the exact same fuel line as is already on the car, why not just include the clips on the vapor hose and forgo the fuel line. I have ended up with a new extra air inlet tube and fuel line that I have no use for. I priced the parts separately and they came to more than this kit is priced at, so went ahead and bought the kit. What a shame....

      boss 302 intake manifold

The install would have been done in an hour if I wasn't so concerned with the wiring appearance. But an extra 30 minutes of sleaving and wrapping wires and it looks like a professional install. After I loaded up my Bama tune and the car is a alive. I only lost 4 ft-ibs but gained 24 hp and the curve gains over 4000 rpm is ridiculous a must have mod for all 5.0 owners. Thanks again AM!

Removes a little low end grunt but hold the heck on!

This modification coupled with a CAI, and Bama tune. Changes the loadout of how the coyote engine delivers power. We've heard it before, but this mod I feel makes the car more streetable. That being said, if you put your foot down and get it to redline the car becomes a rocket.
