Justin here with AmericanMuscle.com with my quick breakdown and dyno-test of the C&L Racer Cold Air Intake system available with the 95 millimeter MAF housing fitting your '05 to '09 3 valve GT. C&L is, without a doubt, one of the leaders in producing Mustang specific intakes and have been doing so for over two decades now. Whether it's a cold air for your GT, like we have here, or a MAF housing for your Cobra or Fox body, chances are C&L has you covered. The Racer is just one of two different cold air offerings available from C&L for your '05 to '09 3-valve GT, the other being the Street. Now, as the name suggests, the Racer is going to be the more aggressive of the two, thanks largely in part to the massive 95 millimeter MAF housing, which is going to be for the Mustang owner on the pursuit for maximum power. Whenever using a large MAF housing, like we have here on the Racer, running an aftermarket tune is an absolute must. Here at AmericanMuscle.com we do recommend using a custom BAMA tune, just to get the most power out of your setup, which I'll talk a little bit more about in a minute. But in the meantime, if you do want to hear what other 3-valve owners are saying about running the Racer intake on their Mustang, in addition to a BAMA tune, just read up on some of the customer reviews on the product page, if you're not there already. Dissecting the C&L Racer a little further, you'll notice the black, molded plastic intake tube, along with that 95 millimeter MAF housing, the reusable high-flow filter and heat shield, and of course, all the hardware and couplers needed for the installation. Speaking of that install, it really should only take you an hour from start to finish using basic hand tools, but if you should get a little jammed up, you should know what to do by now. Reference the detailed install instructions on the product page, or feel free to reach out to a Mustang expert. They're always willing to walk you through the install. So let's see what kind of games we can expect with the C&L Racer intake on your GT. Now, we already have the intake installed, but we're also going to pair it up with a custom BAMA tune here to really maximize our gains. Now, this tune is going to do a few things for our 3-valve. It's going to adjust our fuel and spark tables, optimize our variable CAM timing, and get those air fuel ratios right in the sweet spot. In addition, for your automatic cars, you can expect firmer shift points and drastically improved throttle response. We already grabbed our baseline run using our 2007 GT behind me. So with everything bolted up, it's time to make another hit here on the DynoJet and see what those numbers are.Our baseline run, using our 2007 GT, gave us 271 horsepower and 297 pound feet of torque at the rear wheels. With the C&L Racer and BAMA tune combo, the car is now making 292 horsepower and 303 pound feet of torque, which gives us a peak gain of 21 horsepower over those baseline numbers, and gains of as much as 26 horsepower and 22 pound feet of torque throughout the curve. Well packaged and delivered on time. Installation went smoothly and straight forward. I live in California and went with the CandL cold intake since they have the Carb sticker needed for smog. Can definitely feel the extra power with the increase in air flow. The Bama performance tune makes it much more responsive. Feels like a totally different car love it!
So far everything thing ive got from AM has ship fast and ben a grate add on to my 08convertable this cia with bama race tune really wake your var up, this cia with bama tuner is the best to mods to get for your stang first

I bought this intake off of a buddy of mine for cheap. I have an '07 GT so I didn't have the MAF sensor screws that they send with the kit. After much research I have found that the size is M4-.7x10. Anyways, I installed the intake along with a 93 Octane BAMA V2 tune.... It's like a whole new car to say the least !!!!! I only have Borla Stingers (along with intake and tune) and pulled a 350rwhp Challenger from a dig. He pulled me by a car in a 20 roll. Stock he would have blown my doors off. Well worth the money, especially if you plan to do heavy mods in the future.

C&L Cold Air Intake
It's a good CAI, it installs very easily and definately improves throttle response. The rubber fittings are a bit of a pain to get on, and when I put it together I accidentally put on the MAF housing backwards, make sure the hole is facing the engine and the letters are on the bottom and you're set. My only gripes are that it's a bit cheap to use zip ties to secure it and it makes a slight sucking noise around 1800 rpms. But overall it does as advertised and is a good intake!
Is this intake California carb legal for year model 2009 GT/CS? I have noticed carb legal intakes that works for 2005-2008, but excludes 2009?? What intake/tuner options do I have for my 2009 GT/CS?
That intake is carb legal in California as designated by its CARB EO number D-640. many shops will require a sticker which you would be able to call us in to receive. So any intake that has a stated CARB EO number in the description will pass emissions in Cali.
For a non-heavily modified mustang, with a custom tune will the stock fuel injectors be able to accommodate this size air intake? Or will the fuel injectors need to be changed out in addition to a custom tune?
Yes, a custom tune and stock fuel injectors can be used with this intake.
I have a C L Street CAI and FRPP Stage 3 heads, I'm about to get FRPP cams and a FRPP throttle body, would it be worth it to also upgrade from the Street to the race CIA?
Also I already have CMCV deletes, MAC shorty headers, MAC prochamber, and Pypes Pype-Bomb Axle backs.
Upgrading the intake will overall increase the performance but would not be something you would need to do.
This C&L Racer Cold Air Intake w/ 95mm MAF will only be for the 05-09 3v models. However, we do have this same intake for the 2010 3vs. I will have the link posted below for you.
The inner diameter or inlet of the filter that comes with C&L Racer Cold Air Intake w/ 95mm MAF is 4 inches. The replacement filters we carry that would fit this intake are oiled filters, unfortunately. The C&L Racer Cold Air Intake w/ 95mm MAF will allow more air to enter the engine, boosting performance. No tune required CAI's keep the factory MAF sizing, but tune required cold air intakes like this can increase the diameter of the MAF housing to allow more air to enter the engine, and a smoother transition from the filter to the engine. This cold air intake should not reduce low end horsepower.
