    Review & Installation Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Custom Styling. Give your Mustang a race-ready, "big brake" look with a set of brilliant red Mustang Caliper Covers. Whether you're setting off some aftermarket rims or just adding some custom style, a set of caliper covers will give you a look that's sure to turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they act as a dust shield to keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over stock brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on 2010-2014 GT and V6 Mustangs. Does not fit Shelby GT500, BOSS 302 or Brembo equipped GT models.

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 5/16" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

Brembo Option So, if I have the Brembos am I out of luck? If so, and I want to paint the calipers instead, what do you recommend?

    Gershom

    • Based on the clearance between the stock wheels and the Brembo Calipers (I have them myself), Anything stuck over the calipers would rub. On a side note most wheels won't fit as well because the Brembos require 6.8" of backspacing. As far as painting the Calipers, I used High heat paint on my Thunderbird. Just be careful as it does flake over time so touch ups will be necessary. In my case, I was protecting against rust issues, so I laid a base coat of Enamel paint and then used the high heat paint for the desired color.

proper fit??? I have a 2012 V-6 premium mustang with the performance package. Will these fit and can i get something in the back besides the 5.0 engraving since i dont have a 5.0??

    canonkid

    • I've attached the MGP Covers, also in red, that have 3.7 rather than 5.0 on the rear covers and will fit perfectly on your V6 Premium Package! Hope this helps!

I recently purchased an staggered se of Niche Misano wheel. 20 x 10 and 20 x 8.5. I was wondering if these will fit behind these wheels. I have non Brembo calipers.

    bama7574

    • Since you have 20" wheels, as long as you have the standard model GT, without Brembos, the MGP Red Caliper Covers will fit on your Mustang.

For those of us who have Brembo brakes up front, it would be nice to be able to purchase only the rear covers. I have no option but to paint the Brembos and it would be nice to match the color to the rear caliper covers.

Two questions here, will these caliper covers fit my 2014 GT with your AM 20 inch s550 track pack style wheels? Also, i have heard stories that caliper covers such as these can cause brake fade?

    JD

    • Hello! These MGP Caliper Covers will fit your 2014 GT with 20 inch S550 Track Pack Style Wheels. Unless they are improperly installed, these should not be causing any type of brake fade.

      Not good for brembos

They will not fit if you have the Brembo brake package. They look good but they just didn’t fit. Had to send them back.

      Good Product

The product itself is great! It looks really nice when they are attached. The only problem is that they can be a little tricky to install correctly. The clips will sometimes loosen and rub up against the rotors when going over a few rough patches. But other than that they look great!

It was easy to install. Only thing I had to do was bend the break clips flat and done. I was iffy with the price but worth it once I put them on. Nothing but compliments

      Looking good

While the look of the covers is exactly what I wanted, the price is pretty high for pieces of stamped metal. Even the extra cost of high-temp paint vs. regular paint would not explain the difference. The clips, especially on the rear, required multiple fitting attempts, so what should have taken only part of an hour instead took good part of the day. Even after supplied guage indicated enough clearance a quick test drive still had an unacceptable squeal, so back on the jacks and one more trim. Why make the clips so long in the first place if (multiple) trimming will be required? I think someone should do a price theory chart with this product. I'm sure everyone makes money at the current price, since cost of goods is very low and price is high. Cutting the price in half may sound nuts, but I bet the volume would more than double so more money ends up on the bottom line.

      Great look for my GT

The covers look terrific on my GT. The red stands out and I get a lot of positive comments. The only thing keeping me from giving 5 stars is the fit. I had them installed while having my brakes done -- no charge. The front right cover had to be bent just a bit to prevent rubbing. Would definitely recommend despite minor fit issue.

Exactly as described. Went on easy and with a little additional adjustments are sitting perfect. Just make sure you pay attention to the clearance between the rotor and the retaining clip.

Had these on in less than an hour. There are two different mounting brackets for the front. On the passenger side CA03 is the top and CA04 is the bottom. It is opposite for the drivers side. The rear brackets are all the same. No clearance issues, just make sure the brackets are pushed all the way under the caliper.

      Careful on installation, Customer service?

I bought these in 2016 and because of a car accident and back surgeries just now installed them in June 2017. Three went on without issue. However, the fourth has a bolt which was not secured in the flange, so it spun when the nut went on. I tightened as much as I could and took it out for a spin. The cover came loose and the wheel damaged it. I am trying to mitigate the issue but it is impossible to install the one cover securely. Would like to call and get 1 replacement, but not possible.

      Cheaply Made. Not worth it!

I thought these would be a lot more sturdy and better built. It doesn't even have real bolts on them. It took me a decent amount of time to even install one which I thought I did correctly. I drove with just one installed because I ran out of time and it was making a clicking noise every time I would brake so it must've been rubbing on my rotor. For a few hundred dollars more you can purchase real red calipers or powdercoat your current ones.

Sharp Looking slight issue with fit.

The caliper covers look great and stand out. They add a sporty customized look. They were fairly easy to install. I experienced a slight issue with fitment on my 2012 Mustang GT non brembo brake set up. They rub durring turns causing a faint but noticeable skidding sound. I would have given a 5 out of 5 had it not been for the issue with fitment causing a sound. Overall a good product if you don't mind a little faint noise from slight rubbing.
