    Review & Installation Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Custom Styling. Give your Mustang a race-ready, "big brake" look with a set of brilliant red Mustang Caliper Covers. Whether you're setting off some aftermarket rims or just adding some custom style, a set of caliper covers will give you a look that's sure to turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they act as a dust shield to keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over stock brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on 2010-2014 GT and V6 Mustangs. Does not fit Shelby GT500, BOSS 302 or Brembo equipped GT models.

Does not fit Shelby GT500, BOSS 302 or Brembo equipped GT models

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 5/16" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

Brembo Option So, if I have the Brembos am I out of luck? If so, and I want to paint the calipers instead, what do you recommend?

    • Based on the clearance between the stock wheels and the Brembo Calipers (I have them myself), Anything stuck over the calipers would rub. On a side note most wheels won't fit as well because the Brembos require 6.8" of backspacing. As far as painting the Calipers, I used High heat paint on my Thunderbird. Just be careful as it does flake over time so touch ups will be necessary. In my case, I was protecting against rust issues, so I laid a base coat of Enamel paint and then used the high heat paint for the desired color.

Will these fit Wheels 18, or 17 and 19?? #americanmuscle

    • These will fit 17" and larger wheels. These will require 3mm (1/8") of clearance between the wheel and the caliper in order to fit properly and we recommend measuring to ensure proper fitment.

I already have these caliper covers that I purchased here quite a few years ago, I just need a set of the metal mounting clips for one of the small covers. Can I purchase just that?

    • Unfortunately, we do not carry the mounting clips for the caliper covers. You may be able to get them from MGP.

Installed on at stock 2013 Mustang GT, candy apple metallic, running a Coyote with a Phase 3 Roush Charger. Follow instructions and take your time.

      Caliper covers

They need to be a hard mount. Not metal clips. Had to bend them so they wouldn't run and make noise. They look great but a bit of a pain to get the right fit.

This covers added a nice look to the mustang. To install them it wasn’t that hard as I just followed the video that the instructions brought. Overall I’m pretty satisfied.

MGP Red Caliper Covers w/ 5.0 Logo; Front Rear

The installation was trouble-free and with my car's 19" factory wheels, cover to wheel clearances were not an issue. During the installation, I also took the time to remove all 4 of the (slightly rusty) rotors and clean them up and very carefully mask off and paint all of the visible, non-braking surfaces, including the brake rotor vents with Hi-temp aluminum brake rotor paint to complete the cover install. Wow, what a difference ! The finished look is awesome, now that the ugly factory calipers are out of sight, hidden by the really cool covers and complimented by the freshened up rotors. During the install, the front and rear covers were straight forward and checking that the required mounting clip to rotor clearance of 0.013" was maintained by ever so slightly adjusting the mounting clip position. I found the cover clearance to the rear wheels was slightly less than what I thought was needed, so I solved this minor issue by ever so slightly bending the rear cover mounting brackets to just less than 90 degrees. I thought the covers were somewhat expensive for what they are, although the quality is very good. However, I found that the results justified the cost and I've already had several compliments from other Mustang owners as to how much better the car looks. I recommend these covers for any 10-14 Mustang with the standard brake package.

      A nice finishing touch

These were exactly what I wanted. A quick easy way to get some color behind the black performance pack wheels. The red definitely pops out. Why didn't my car come with the brembo brakes, you ask? I don't know. I bought it ford certified pre-owned like that. It had the factory strut tower brace, and the 19" staggered wheels. Things that point to the performance pack, but no brembo's. Anyhow. The covers go on easily. They have a nice finish. I rode on our extremely poor road with the windows down listening for any noise, rattling or rubbing. Zero. They are a little expensive, but once they are on you don't miss the 200$. As my title says I think they are a nice finishing touch. Great for those with an attention to detail. They are also significantly longer than the actual caliper. It adds to the big brake sports car look, especially from 20 feet away. Not that they don't look good up close but car guys will know it's a cover.

Nice finishing touch, however very fussy!

These covers do look great and finish off your upgraded brakes, but they come with a price. The two front covers fit perfectly whIle the two rears are extremely fussy to get right so the clips don't rub the top of the rotors. I still have not been able to get them to completely stop touching the rotors. I had to enlarge the holes on the rear covers so it would go over the pegs correctly.

      Poor job

I can't fathom how a product with as many complaints about price, fit, and noise come come up at such a high rating. Unless the ratings are being pumped with fake entries. Come on American Muscle, you can do better than this.

What you see is what you get!

Good looking, very satisfied but a bit pricy. I have to grind another slot on two of the brackets. I don't known if it was an error but all the slot on the brackets are on the same side off center of the bracket. On two of the brackets the slot should be on the opposite side to fit. But it was easy to solve the problem.

      Scraping noise?

These look great and were easy to install, only problem, i replaced my rotors and brake pads and everything was good, when i put these on there is a scraping noise out of the right front. Is there a way i can fix the clip so it wont make that noise? Other than that they are great

      Didn't fit right- returned

The cover didn't seat correctly on the caliper (yes, I cut the pad springs) such that I had to distort it to get it into the clip. It then tried to spring back, which forced the clip into the radius of the caliper bridge, which caused it to contact the caliper. Having no idea of the fragility of cast aluminum, I wasn't about to hammer on the cover to force it to fit. Frankly, I'm not sure that the precision of manufacture of either the cover or the cast surface of the caliper itself can consistently support the .035 clearance requirement between the clip and the edge of the rotor. Obviously, many folks have installed them with no problem, so yours might work out fine, but I lost confidence in the product and returned it. AM promptly got me an RMA number when I asked, so I'm not unhappy with AM, just the product.

      Seen better

After installed, i determined the clips that come with the covers make a squeak noise while driving. I decided to take the covers off and use as a conversational piece for now. Also after installed, the front pair look awkwardly big. so, i'm not much a fan of these covers.

MGP needs to read these reviews

Everyone is saying these do not fit properly. They are very expensive for something that does not fit. They need redesigned so that they fit correctly and the price needs to come down! I really like the look of them, but I will not be ordering them until they fit and the price drops.

Didn't fit over the stock calipers on my '14 GT (not Brembos). I tried adjusting the clips numerous times but could not get them tight enough to prevent movement. Didn't feel safe with them on so returned for a refund. Perhaps others will have better luck.

      Didn't fit

They look really good on but ended up scraping the rotors and making a terrible screeching sound. Rear covers especially didn't fit and after awhile, the front ones started doing the same. Kinda sucks, because they look really good. There goes $200.
