    Review & Installation Video

    Review & Install Video

Hey, guys. Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today I'm bringing you a quick overview and installation of the MGP Red Caliper Covers with the 5.0 Logo, fitting the front and rear of all 2015 and newer GT Mustangs. So in this video, of course, we'll be going over the styling and appearance of the MGP Red Caliper Covers as well as the materials and construction. I'll top the video off with the install, which I'll let you know upfront here gets a very, very simple one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Easy enough for almost anybody to take care of. The MGP Red Caliper Covers with the 5.0 Logo will be for any 2015 or newer Mustang GT owner who's in the interest of picking up a big brake kit without actually spending the money on one. This particular kit of MGP Caliper Covers will actually cover up your factory brake calipers to give it the impression of one of those expensive and aggressive big, great kits here with a red finish, a 5.0 logo for the rear, and a Mustang logo for the front. Now, obviously, if you're the owner of an S550, you might be interested in picking up a big brake kit. Now, like I just said, those can be extremely expensive, costing thousands of dollars to get, let alone install. Now, with that said, the factory 5.0 brake calipers, of course, do look pretty aggressive from the factory already and are pretty large in fact. Now, when you install these on top of that, you can make it even more aggressive, so some of you might want to stick to those factory calipers on your 5.0. But for the guys looking to add that unique shine to the brake assembly here and want to represent with a couple of different logo options, you have the 5.0 logo for the rear calipers and the Mustang lettering for the front in silver on top of a red painted caliper and a billet aluminum. Now, you also see on the front here are couple of rivets that are actually molded into the plastic. These aren't real rivets. It's just, honestly, for show. This is something that stands out a lot at car shows, so if you're the guy out there trying to win the award or just impressing your friends here, this is something that you can actually add to your appearance for a relatively affordable price without actually spending the big bucks on a big brake kit. Now, again, this is a 6061-T6 aluminum that is custom molded to fit exactly on top of your 5.0 calipers. If you're rocking a V6 or an EcoBoost, this particular kit won't fit, but there are other options on the market from MGP that will specifically fit your caliper setup. Now, on top of that, it's got the red powdered covering. It's got the silver 5.0 and silver Mustang lettering embedded into the materials here, the fake rivets on top here, and, of course, all this comes together and actually is a bit bigger than your factory calipers, so you can actually reduce brake dust. Now, as far as the pricing goes, this comes in right around 200 bucks for everything you see here. Now, in comparison to a big brake kit, which I want to point out...I keep mentioning this big brake kit. I know that has a lot more functionality than just appearance, but if you're only after that appearance, a set of MGP caliper covers can actually do the trick since these are bigger than the factory appearance. It reduces the brake dust, so it does have functionality while also looking very aggressive. Now, in my personal opinion, I'm not the biggest fan of the fake rivets here, so if they did away with those, I think it'd be something I'd be more interested in. But if you don't mind the fake rivets and you're interested in the 5.0 logo, the Mustang lettering, the red paint, you can pick this up for your S550 for just about 200 bucks. As far as the insulation is concerned, I wanna point out a couple of things before moving forward. This is specifically molded for your four-piston caliper on the 5.0 and will not fit any six-piston brake calipers. You are also required to have a 19-inch or larger wheel, but, of course, if you have all that good stuff, then you are ready to pick this up and install it. Now, as far as the installation goes, all you'll have to do is jack up the vehicle, remove one of the wheels, and bolt this on using the bolts on each side of the caliper covers, which will attach directly on top of your stock caliper. Repeat that process for the other three, and you're good to go. It's that simple. Overall, about an hours' worth of time tops and, of course, a one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Just to wrap things up here, if you're the owner of a 2015 or newer Mustang GT and you're looking to pick up the impressive appearance of a big brake kit without the functionality and cost, you might wanna check out the MGP Red Caliper Covers with the 5.0 Logo here, which are available for the front and rear of your S550 right here at americanmuscle.com.

I really want to buy this but not sure if it is going to fit. My GT is a 2016 Premium model with California special. The wheel is 19-inch Ebony Black Painted Machined-aluminum wheels. Please tell me this is going to fit!

    • The MGP Red Caliper Covers w/ 5.0 Logo - Front & Rear (15-17 GT) will fit with a 19" wheel and will only fit on 4 piston brakes. You will need to find out if you have the 4 piston or 6 piston brakes. As long as you have 4 piston you will be good.

I have a 2016 Mustang GT that came with 18" foundry black painted aluminum wheels. Will these work on this vehicle? I see several reviews where it talks about scraping and since I will need dealer to install these, I want to be sure they will work before ordering.

    • As you have 18" wheels you should be good to go as these will require the use of 18" Wheels or Larger.

I have a 2018 mustang GT premium w/o performance pack. I have the polished aluminum wheels size 19 inch. The brakes look as if they are very close to the wheel. Will these covers fit without rubbing the wheel? Also, how thick are these covers?

    • While we do not have the dimensions in terms of depth or thickness, these MGP Black Caliper Covers w/ 5.0 Logo will fit on the regular 2018 GT without fitment issues, that you have 19" wheels is even better.

      Look great

Took a bit of bending of the clips to get them perfectly aligned but they look great. Was just at a car show and unless the calipers were freshly painted these were head and shoulders better looking. Even fresh caliper paint didn't look as good, but at least close...

      Tight Fit

I’m not a huge fan of how they fit. It’s a very tight fit, when I first put them on the clips were rubbing on my rotor so I had to move it around for a little till I got a good fit. They come with a paper feeler gage if you don’t have one so that’s good. Then when I put the wheels back on it was another tight fit, I’ve for stock 18in wheels. So I am a little scared I’m gonna hit a pot hole and they’re gonna start rubbing and get destroyed. Other then that I love how they look!!! That’s the only reason I’m keeping them.

      Looks great after install!

If you’re like me who can’t yet afford a set of big racing brakes like Brembos but still want to have the good looks of having real racing brakes on your ride with the eye-catching bright red calipers, then these caliper covers are just that perfect set. It covers up the bland and bare stock factory calipers and gives your wheels a better look.

      Misleading Labeling

I bought these caliper covers thinking that would be able to fit my '18 5.0 however when i went to put them on they were rubbing up against the rotor. i went back to the site to discover that they fit the standard GT only. i should have taken a closer look at the product fitment however it was misleading to have a 5.0 caliper cover that doesn't fit the 5.0, i cant imagine this product to be extremely popular since no one would want to have a 5.0 label on a non 5.0 mustang. i would recommend changing the fitment requirements on the site to more clearly label if products fit the regular/premium models to avoid future confusion. overall they still look badass and ill be buying the premium caliber covers in the future.

      Looks good.

I love the look of these, but it cannot compare to getting your caliper covers powder coated. It’s a cheaper solution here, but you get what you pay for honestly. And I hope American Muscle sees this, my front right caliper cover is thinker than the others and it rubs and is all messed up. Other than that the look is sharp.

Not so good! Had to remove the fronts due to consistent rubbing... could not get clip away from drum... In the installation video, there seemed to be a slot in the cover to fit to clip. Caliber covers did not have slot, only hole.
