    Review & Install Video

Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and I’m checking out MGP’s front and rear caliper covers, fitting all 2005 and newer Mustangs. So here’s the deal, an aftermarket big brake kit is not exactly cheap, and painting your factory calipers can sometimes not give you the results you’re looking for. These covers from MGP are a great way to cover up those ugly factory calipers, while adding a little customization and helping to reduce the brake dust on your wheels. The covers are offered in a red or a black powder coat and with a number of different logo options. We have a couple here on the table including the red GT logo, the complete black Cobra setup, the red running Pony logo, and the black 5.0 logo, just to name a few. Taking a closer look at the calipers you’ll first notice a very durable T6 aluminum construction, along with that powder coated red or black finish. In addition we have the officially licensed logo right in the center, along with some simulated hardware for a more realistic look. The installation really isn’t all that bad and should take you about an hour from start to finish. Of course you will need to remove your wheels just to gain access to the calipers so make sure you have your jack handy. In addition you’re going to want to make sure 3/8” wrench just to tighten up the hardware on the covers themselves, but other than that everything is completely straightforward. So if you’re tired of looking at those rusty factory calipers and you don’t feel like forking out big dough for an aftermarket big brake kit, you’ll want to look into MGP’s caliper covers available right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Mustang Styling. This set of four Red MGP Caliper Covers are a great way to set off your new rims and they feature modern "Mustang" lettering on the front two covers and the iconic Tri-Bar Pony logo on the rear two. These Officially Licensed MGP Caliper Covers will give any S197 Mustang a big brake race ready look that will turn heads.

Reduces Brake Dust. These Caliper Covers not only look fantastic, but they also act as a protective dust shield to help keep your rims looking cleaner longer.

Quality Construction. MGP makes their Caliper covers from light weight 6061-T6 Aerospace Aluminum that is formed to the caliper for a perfect fit. The covers are then powder coated for a long lasting high gloss look. The installation brackets are TIG welded in place for extra security.

Easy No Mess Install. Painting your calipers can be messy and time consuming, but the MGP Caliper Covers simply install over your stock calipers and are held in place with the supplied clip and bolt. For a no muss, no fuss install.

Application. Designed to fit over stock brakes, this set of four MGP caliper covers include all the required hardware needed for installation on a 2005 to 2009 V6 or GT Mustang.

    • V6 - 05, 06, 07, 08, 09

Technical Note. A minimum of 1/8 of an inch clearance between the wheel and the brake caliper is required for proper fitment. We have found that the MGP caliper covers will require the use of a small 1/4" spacer to provide proper clearance with our aftermarket Bullitt wheels, see drop down option above

I have a 2006 v6 Mustang Pony with 18" stock Bullitt Wheels will these covers fit? Or will I need to purchase spacer kit as well? Love these covers would like to purchase today. if they will work?

    SusanM

    • The need for spacers with these covers is going to depend on your wheel size, as well as the wheel type. Depending on your wheels width, you should not require spacers with these. With that being said you can verify this by measuring the clearance between the wheel and caliper. You are going to need at least 3mm or 0.12" clearance at all points between the caliper and the wheel.

Depending on your wheel width, you should not require spacers with those wheels, however you can verify by measuring the clearance between the wheel and caliper. I have a 2009 with 16 inch bullet wheels that I purchased from American racing wheels Do I need spacers? and if so how many do I need and how many are in a kit?

    ChrisC

    • Unfortunately we do not have any specifications for your wheels to know if there is enough clearance, however you can measure for clearance, as the MGP Red Caliper Covers will need 1/8"" of clearance between the caliper and the wheel at all points. Spacers are sold as sets of 2, so each kit will complete one axle.

    I have a 2010 V6 4.0 mustang everything is stock do I need spacers

    PabloB

    • As longs as your stock wheels are 17" or larger these caliper covers would have enough clearance but a small 3/16 or 5/16 spacer would not hurt!

Why do you recommend only one set of spacers for the covers? Wouldn't you need two sets, one set for the front and one set for the back?

    TomOhio

    • Depending on your set up, you will only need wheel spacers in the front since the caliper is slightly larger. If you have stock brakes, you will not need any wheel spacers.

      Good deal

They look great and its a much better option than painting or replacing the calipers. However, we did need to have spacers sent along for the front tires.

      Killer

These are a game changer! I can't believe how great these look. My only concern is if anything starts to rust. They're likely one and done. I can't see how you will remove them if the nuts rust as they seem a little delicate on those ears. They're quite expensive, but super cool. I hope they are durable enough to substantiate the cost. I had a little trouble getting them to sit right so they wouldn't rub. Other than that, fairly early installation.

      A Little Overpriced

Can't deny they look good but why 200 bucks? They are very thin. For this price they should include the overpriced spacers that you'll need.

They look great and help keep you rims clean from the brake pad dust. Rims don’t get as dirty as before and take less time to clean.

look good once they are on

I got the red caliper covers. I had read some of the reviews that said they had to put on a wheel spacer on the fronts, but the literature from AM said everything should fit just fine. I ordered the covers and when i went to install them, the front wheels rubbed on the covers. Why? I have stock wheels and these are supposed to fit and should fit real good for $200 bucks. After jacking the car up taking off tires installing the front cover and putting tires back on and they rubbed, i went to O'Riellys and purchased some wheel spacers. I wanted to show off my new purchase so had to get what they had 5/16 wheel spacer. They are too much of a spacer for the application but used them for the show that afternoon. Called AM on Monday and tried to order an 1/8 inch spacer. I was told we don't carry the size. I got the number to MGP called them on Monday and left a message. Received a call back on Tuesday. It seems this is a common problem. The tech dept sent me 2 3mm wheel spacer at no charge. The front rubbing problem is solved. Now to the back caliper covers. They do not cover the whole caliper. The bolts have to be bent in to fit the clips on the cover and the clips needed to be bent to get over the bolts. A very nice look but a not so good fit. 200 bucks is an awful lot for something that needs so much modification and added parts but again they sure do look good from 5 to 10 feet away.

      Five star look

These are definitely worth getting. The caliper covers were a great addition to the 19" rims I put on last year. The fronts went on with ease but the rear covers were a tremendous pain. I tried reshaping the clips, as other reviews had mentioned, but had no success. The clips eventually were beyond usable. I called MGP and found that they do have some fitment issues with the rear but if you grind them down 1/8", it should take care of it. I spent the $20 to get new clips and MGP ground them down for me. The new clips were slightly different in shape than the original ones, but grinding them down was the key. It took longer to take the rear tire off than it did to put the rear covers on with the new clips.

      Fitment issue!

The product was good but did not fit properly with factory bullit style rims, Rob from AM quickly helped me resolve the issue with 3/16 wheel spacers. They look amazing but be aware of this issue if you're looking to buy these.
