C l cold air with 82 mm mass air
Fast shipping but box was beat up product inside was not damaged however. Fit and finish was what was expected from candl top notch. Note provided screws for mass air are to short but just use the ones off old mass air no biggie. Instructions that came with it were for a 96-98 cobra instead of 02-04 gt but let’s be honest if you need instructions to install a cold air intake you should not open the hood of your car. If using the stock plenum it is a very right fit. would be 5 stars if the box wasn’t beat to pieces and had no instructions instead of to a totally different year and model car that was odd. Regardless looks great well worth the extra money over cheaper plastic ones. Works as it should. Can never go wrong with a candl product.Helpful (11)

I don’t regret it
The intake was a hassle to install in my 2002 mustang Gt because it’s a big filter. Once I drove off with the intake I heard the car had a deeper tone to it and performance wise it did feel like it ran a whole lout better. I felt a huge difference when I hooked up my Bama Tune. Car runs awesome it’s way faster now.Helpful (10)

Awesome upgrade for my 2003 GT
Five star! Sounds great and big difference on acceleration even with my automatic tran. Can't wait to receive my throttle body. Provided screw for MAF too short, which is no big deal only cost me few cents for the right size screw.Helpful (13)

C L CAI w/82mm MAF
I wanted a complete CAI with the MAF that were designed and made together, so my options were limited. I've have had other Mustang and Ford friends say good things about CandL along with their past performance experiences so I was pretty set on this set-up. I was however a little apprehensive on buying this particular set-up due to clearance issues with my Trick Flow valve covers. After talking through texts with the always great and helpful AM reps, they said they didn't know if it would clear the covers or not due to no known history for that application. The reply was if it didn't fit, I could send it back for a refund. Nice to get a honest answer without a "it should fit" or some other sales reply. With that assurance, I comfortably went ahead and purchased it without any further hesitation.. It quickly showed up as all my previous purchases have. I went to work putting it on. It cleared no problem with a nice amount of clearance around the covers, the strut towers and along the fender. The kit fit exceptionally well and looks very neat. Everything looks high quality, strong and well made. Not cheap looking or low quality parts in the kit. Very nice and I'd highly recommend this kit over others I've seen regarding looks. The next step was to take it out for a test run. I have a fair amount of basic performance bolt-on mods including a BAMA tuner but haven't gone into the engine. So I wasn't sure if the CAI kit would have a real noticeable performance "Seat of the pants" feel or gain. Well, that wasn't an issue at all. The CAI kit made a very definite change in performance that could be felt immediately upon throttle application. The car pulls harder and it moves noticeably quicker above 2500 rpms. I haven't done any half to full throttle clutch releases since I don't drive the car in that manner, but I wouldn't be surprised at all that it would do that more noticeably as well. The only downside I'd say I have with the kit, which isn't a real issue but more of a personal taste issue, is the hose color being an off colored blue. it doesn't blend as well as I would have liked I would have liked it to for my particular application. I would liked to have had black hoses or at least the option to choose black hoses. They would look a little better for my application and personal taste. Again, no problem at all with the kit quality or performance. Just a color option suggestion for the hoses for those of us that like to do car shows or displays with our cars. Definitely a kit well worth the $$$ and I highly recommend it for looks and performance. I'm very impressed with CandL's products and let others know that inquire about it. To see how it looks on my particular set-up, check out the photo of our '04 Crimson Red GT with the CandL kit on AM's customer photos display for the kit.Helpful (11)

Another Quality Product
I purchase the complete C&L intake system (cold air and plenum) and was INSTANTLY impressed on the finish and build quality of their products. I have yet to do dyno runs to see just how much I have gained, but you can hear and see the difference with this installed. Overall: A great AMERICAN product for a great American muscle car!Helpful (17)
Why won't this fit the 99 - 04? I thought the intakes are the same from 99-04 2v
This C&L Cold Air Intake is designed specifically for the 02-04 Mustangs, which utilized an Intake Air Temp (iat) sensor built into the MAF. Earlier models utilized a separate IAT which this intake does not have provisions for. Linked below is the correct kit for earlier models. https://www.americanmuscle.com/cnl-cai-9601gt.html
What is the best way to clean the filter? Or should it be replaced every so often?
Hi, This filter should be cleaned with a Air filter recharge kit it can be picked up at your local parts store.
Does anyone know if there is a way to get replacement couplers for this CAI? I recently damaged the coupler that connects the CAI to the TB.
We would recommend reaching out to the manufacturer and you would even be able to source couplers at local auto stores.
i have this intake on one of my cars, I need to change the filter theres a cheap one on it now, whats the inlet size I see a 3.5 and a 4inch I don't have access to the car at the moment
This would be a 4" inlet diameter. We do have the replacement air filter here: https://www.americanmuscle.com/cnl-4in-9in-airfilter.html.
What are the estimated gains with this intake? with and without a tune? Thanks.
Hello! Unfortunately there are no reported Dyno numbers for the C&L Cold Air Intake without a tune.
