Noah: I'm Noah from AmericanMuscle, and you're looking at the C&L Oil Separator for the Driver Side in an '05 to 2010 Mustang GT. Sludge buildup in a motor is something to be taken very seriously. An oil separator, also known as a catch can, is a great investment if you are looking to maintain the power of your Mustang and increase the longevity of your motor. This oil separator is a drop-in upgrade, so you can be confident pulling the trigger as a DIYer. Everything you need to get this thing plumbed up is included with the kit as well, like the hoses, the mounting bracket, and all the hose clamps. Now, the can itself does have a 2.2-ounce capacity and a nice drain at the bottom, so instead of taking the whole thing off, you can just open that up and drain it into a pan under the car. This kit also reuses the factory PCV fittings, that's positive crank ventilation, so there's no modification required at all.So the construction on this separator is very stout. It's made of aluminum, so it's never going to rust because of the moisture that it holds inside of it. Then the fittings on the side here are made from brass so you don't have to worry about them starting to corrode either. And then to top it all off there is a tasteful little plate here with the C&L logo on it up top and that can be seen from the engine bay and it looks very nice.Coming in around $100 bucks, C&L's Oil Separator really can be a huge help keeping unwanted oil vapors from re-entering your engine. This little guy doesn't cost much at all, and it really could make or break the longevity of your motor. In terms of preventative maintenance, this is a great buy. The cheap price point compared to what oil and crud buildup could cost you makes an oil separator a no-brainer, in my opinion. The install should take you right around 30 minutes, making this job an easy 1 out of 3 wrenches of difficulty. Installing this oil separator is simple since everything is just plug and play and all that you need is included with the kit. Speaking of install, let's head over to the shop and get it on our Mustang.Man: For this install, you will need a ratchet, 3-inch extension, 10-millimeter socket, 19-millimeter wrench, Phillips head screwdriver, a type of thread sealer, and a cutting device. All right. Today, we're gonna be installing an oil separator on our Mustang. First off, we just gotta do a little uninstall, and then we'll install the new oil separator. All right. First thing we need to do for the removal is we need to remove one 10-millimeter bolt, on the mount next to the strut and then the factory PCV hose. We can start off by loosening it up off the valve cover, push it down, push the tab up, and lift it off a little bit. Don't pull it off all the way until you get this one off. Same thing, push it in a little bit that will help get the pressure off the clip. Lift up and pull off, and you can remove it.All right, next we can remove this bolt, grab our ratchet with our 10-millimeter socket. All right. And put that off to the side, we will need it for install. All right. Now, we are ready to get our oil separator ready for install. We need to install the drain, the mount, the cover, and cut our hose. All right. The first thing we need to do is we need to get our drain and we need to put some type of thread sealer on it. We're gonna use Teflon tape today. Just take the tape and wrap it around the threads, break that off, and we can take it and thread it into the bottom of our oil separator. Get that hand tight, and then we're going to grab our 19-millimeter wrench and snug it up.All right, now, we are ready to install our mount. We are going to use the top hole on our mount. So we're going to grab our bolt, our lock washer, and our flat washer. Put it through the top hole, and thread it onto the back hole on the other side of the vent tubes. All right, we grab our ratchet with our 10-millimeter socket and tighten that down. All right, now, we are ready to install our top plate and set it on top. Grab our Phillips head screws and our flat washers and stick them in each of the top holes. Grab our Phillips head screwdriver and tighten them down. All right, now, that we have the oil separator out of the car before we do the install, I'm just gonna explain the drain on the bottom of it. There's a ball valve on the bottom. As you can see, when it's to the side, it is closed. And when it's pointed straight down, it is open. You need to keep it closed while it's installed in the car, otherwise the oil will drain out of the bottom. All right, last thing we need to do before install is we need to cut the hose in half. So you're going to take the hose, stretch it out. Find about the middle, this is about right here, and take a knife and cut.All right, the first thing we do is we can grab our new oil separator and grab the 10-millimeter bolt that we took out earlier. Set the oil separator into place. Start the bolt. Grab your ratchet with your 10-millimeter socket and tighten it down. All right, now, we are ready to install our hoses onto our oil separator. Our top port will go to the intake manifold, and then our bottom hose will go to the valve cover. First off, slide our hose clamps over the hose. Angle them so you can tighten them down. We'll do the same for the bottom hose that will go to our valve cover. All right. First thing we're gonna do is we're gonna tighten down our hoses on the intake manifold and the valve cover. Let's start with the valve cover. Grab our Phillips head screwdriver and tighten down the clamp. Do the same for the hose on the intake manifold. All right, now, we can tighten our clamp down on the oil separator. Let's start with the bottom one. All right, and the top one. Just give them a little tug just to make sure they're not gonna pop off nice and tight. All right. Now, that we got the oil separator installed, you can clean up these hoses a little bit more by cutting them a little bit shorter. But just remember that you will need a little bit of slack because you will need to remove this bolt and lift the oil separator up to drain it properly into a container. All right. And that wraps up our install of our C&L Oil Separator for the Driver Side of our 2005 to 2010 Mustang GT. And remember, for everything Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

      Description

Minimize Engine Sludge. Prevent engine sludge from hampering your Mustang's performance by installing a C&L Oil Separator. Crankcase exhaust gases (better known as blow-by) is an oily vapor that re-enters through your engines PCV system and gradually coats the inside of your throttle body and intake manifold. Overtime this oily residue thickens and becomes engine sludge which will rob you of power. However, an Oil Separator (sometimes known as a Catch Can) will capture these blow-by gases before they are able to re-enter the system to prevent the formation of this engine sludge.

Quality Construction. C&L manufactures their Oil Separator from the high quality aluminum for excellent durability and long-lasting service. CNC machined to precise specifications, this Oil Separator is completed in black anodized finish for great under hood looks and long lasting corrosion resistance.

Straight Forward Installation. C&L engineered their Oil Separator to be installed in under 30 minutes with just basic hand tools. This kit includes two new PCV lines, but you will be required to reuse the original factory PCV fittings, this will allow for an easy plug-and-play installation.

Application. This C&L Oil Separator; Black; Driver Side is designed to fit 2005-2010 Ford Mustang GT models.
