Hey I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and I’m taking a closer look at DBA’s X gold series cross drilled and slotted rotors, available for all 94 and newer Mustangs. DBA is a brake rotor company that is based out of Australia and known worldwide for their innovative and quality products. We currently offer DBA’s street series which is their entry level performance rotor, and the X gold series which I have with me now. The X gold series does offer some additional benefits that the street series does not, such as being cross drilled and slotted as opposed to just being slotted like the street series. So what are the benefits of going with a drilled and slotted rotor? Well for one that drilled and slotted face is going to improve pad bite initially and reduce fade in all braking situations. Part of the reason the fade is reduced is because the drilled and slotted openings here on the rotor will allow all the friction gases and debris to be rapidly removed from the friction surface. Another unique design with the gold series and other DBA rotors is the addition of their patented kangaroo cooling system, this is the ventilation system between the two friction surfaces. Basically if you were to remove the front of the rotor here, you’d see a number of diamond shaped pillars, as opposed to this traditional straight vein or straight line design. This unique design increases surface area by up to 60% to dissipate heat better, and increase the strength of the rotor overall, reducing warpage. Of course the performance benefits alone are worth of admission, but you also get the appearance benefits of running an aggressive rotor like this, there’s no denying a slotted and drilled rotor is going to look great behind any set of wheels, especially with that gold coating to help keep things looking fresh and free of corrosion. Installing a new set of rotors on your late model Mustang is actually pretty easy, in fact the most time consuming part will probably be jacking the car up, and taking the wheels off, after that removing the caliper and swapping the rotors is nothing more than a few bolts, that should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. So if you’re looking to improve a vital area of your Mustangs braking system, while also enhancing the appearance side of things behind the wheels, then you have to check out DBA’s X gold brake rotors right here at AmericanMuscle.com

Improves Braking. DBA uses a cross-drilled pattern on their X-Gold Street Series Rotors that improves braking performance by increasing the consistency and effectiveness of every stop.

Non-directional. The X-Gold Street Series Brake Rotor features a non-directional cross drilled and slotted design that eliminates the need for left and right discs, making installation simple and straight forward.

Kangaroo Paw Design. DBA's patented "Kangaroo Paw" ventilation design, runs cooler, stronger, and outperforms traditional straight vane vented disc rotors by up to 20%.

Application. This pair of DBA X-Gold Street Series Cross Drilled and Slotted Brake Rotors are specifically designed to fit the rear of the 2005 to 2014 V6, GT and Bullitt Mustangs, excludes Shelby GT500 models.

      just stop it

Installed these front and rear with Hawk ceramic pads. It stops very well and no noise. Probably fine for all but serious track racers. SS brake lines helped also.

      Must have Upgrade!

So you started adding parts to your stang making a mark in the world. If your like me and never felt the stopping power was adequate you will want this upgrade for sure. Any time you add extra weight such as a supercharger, larger rims, or even an engine upgrade you will need to upgrade the brake system in order to handle the extra weight. This is the best way to go about a brake upgrade with out the big break price. Get the stopping power you need at a price you can afford! Just a note to remember you get what you pay for. ** Just as a note just replacing the rotors on the back or using the stock pads will work I recommend doing the front and back rotors to match and throw a new set of pads on both to maximize the bang for the buck. ***

      Bling with function

Ever notice how most motorcycle brake rotors are drilled thus aiding in cooling plus they look cool. I installed the DBA rotors with a set of ceramic pads front and rear and to be honest not a huge change in stopping power. That is until you try them in a high speed long distance braking situation. The drilled and slotted rotors keep the pads cool and that means no fade in the pedal. I wanted the look of the drilled slotted big brake system along with the added bonus of fade free brakes. And that is what I got. Install is very straight forward since you are not changing calipers just rotors and pads. These rotors offer you the look and performance of a high dollar system with the ease of a factory replacement part. And the best thing....they look cool.

      Awesome

They fit perfectly in the place of OEM style rotors. The cross drilling and vanes keeps the rotor cool and reduces mass. They look fantastic as well. Great product all around.
