I see these come in black and red. Do these come in blue?

WilliamW

  • Unfortunately Alterum does not currently offer any door insert covers in blue at this time. If they do produce the color, and we begin to carry it,we will add it to our website right away.

How can I get these in yellow to match my car?

MikeM

  • At this time we do not carry these door inserts in yellow. If you really wanted yellow, you could take your door cards, or these door cards to an upholstery shop to get redone.

Over priced, low quality, different shapes

American Muscle ALWAYS pulls through for me but with this product, just "no". I opened the package, both were cut differently (not even close to exact fit), the material is not worth $159 and the driver side had a crease in it. I continued on, taking my door panel off, sanding, etc etc. (I've worked in a garage for 12 years so I know how to do this stuff) but when it came time to apply, it sat unevenly on my door panel, there wasn't enough excess material to "cut" or tuck for that matter and every time I DID tuck it into one area, the other side came out! I asked two friends from two different body shops and a local body shop who I never worked with before and my friends told me "The material is over priced we would've done that for you for less than $159" and the owner of the local body shop told me, "I could've fiber glassed the door panel for you for cheaper." It's nothing against American Muscle, I've worked with them since 2007 and I will certainly continue to support and buy from them, but this product...LOL NOT WORTH $159.

    Good quality but overpriced

When I received the door liners I was surprised at how little material was received for the price I paid. I could have made my own template out of butcher paper and bought the leather locally for a fraction of the price. There must be a 1000 mark up on this material.

    Not to impressed

They were cut so close to size they were almost to small to install. Then the upholstery shop that installed tem asked how much i paid. When i told him he laughed and said i could have bought a whole hyde for the same price. They look good. But way over priced and cut so close they almost did not fit! If you need them replaced i recommend just going to your local upholstery shop. It will be cheaper

    High Quality Product!

This turned out to be an awesome, high quality product. It took a lot more time than I had anticipated to complete the install correctly. Most of the time was spent sanding and prepping the door after scrapping off the OEM insert. But all of the work and time was worth it! Totally changes/improves the interior!

    A necessary evil

This plague that inflicts the door panels of 2005-2009 Mustangs is a giant eyesore that drove me crazy. My 2007 GT 500 is my project car, so I couldn’t stand by ideally and let the door inserts just hang in the hot Texas sun. I ordered these insets after months of repairing the OEM inserts. I became quite proficient at gluing door panels. The process was easy, but the prep proved to be difficult. The felt door liner is difficult to tear off and required quite a bit of adhesive remover and Dremel work, but once completed I thought that the reset of the process would be a snap. The problem that I ran into was the inconsistency of the NEW Door inserts. My passenger side door is perfect, the adhesive stuck to it, it cut perfect, and no problems. The driver’s side door material was not manufactured correctly, the surface vinyl that covers the suede/leather pulled away from the base. Once it was adhered and cut into place the top separated. This left the top floating and the side pulled up from the cut exposing the suede backing on the door grooves. I believe I just got a bad cut of leather. It is labor intensive and it looks ok until you look closer, so I’m waiting until my OCD kicks in to repair it.

    These Look GREAT!

I purchased my 2006 Mutang used and it was missing the red driver side insert and the passenger side was sagging. I purchased these covers and they turned out great (see photo I uploaded). My word of advice is to TAKE YOUR TIME installing these! There will be excess leather that has to be trimmed. Take your time trimming and use a new razor blade. 3M Super 77 spray adhesive worked really well. Just be sure to mask off the plastic to keep the adhesive from going where you don't want it to go. To trim the inserts I used a PVC welt/piping around the perimeter which also helped set them off.

    Tough fit

At the time of the purchase, I was under the impression these were a more exact fit. I had to take the door panel off, and cut the leather with a razor to get the material to fit. Still, wasn't a very difficult task to compete and only took the afternoon. Looks good with the tan interior of a gtcs.

    Requires trimming but quality leather

Quality product but comes oversized, and due to the nature of the door setup, even with removing the panel from the door, installation was much more difficult than anticipated. Pleased overall, but would never choose to do it again.

    Just take your time...

This was the first time I have ever even attempted to do upholstery so I basically dove in head first. But, even having no experience it turned out looking great only because I was very, very patient with it. Take your time and pay attention to detail and they will turn out great.

    Sleek

My old factory door panels were peeling off, as Texas heat isn't great for leather specially with the top down, after multiple attempts of trying to keep the door old panels on, I figured I get new one and these are definitely far better quality. Very sleek and a must for improving or restoring the interior. Great look and a great price I asked around and just for making a custom fit door panel most shops wanted ~$300. Overall very happy with my purchase/upgrade.
