Hey, guys, Stephanie with americanmuscle.com here with an overview of the Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 clutch, rated to 734 foot pounds of torque for the 2015 and up S550 GT Mustang. We're gonna cover a few things in this video, like the components of this particular clutch and an overview of the install as well, which I can tell you right now is going to be a three out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter. Since a clutch replacement is a lot of work, most people are looking at taking the car to a professional for the install. The Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 clutch is going to be something that you should consider if you're looking for either a replacement clutch or an upgraded clutch for an S550 GT that have some modifications. If you have some mods and your car's making enough horsepower to overpower the stock clutch, then you have no choice but to upgrade clutches. Even if you don't have many mods, but your car does see track time, an upgraded clutch is also a good idea. And the Stage 3 clutch here is your first upgrade over stock, and it comes at a very affordable price. If you compare this clutch to the stock clutch, the main difference is gonna be the compound of the clutch disc. When you start upgrading clutches over the stock clutch, but still maintain only one disc, like this clutch here does, you see things like different compounds that are more heavy-duty and that are able to handle more horsepower and torque. The other thing that you see is sometimes changes in design, like a puck style clutch, or basically more friction surface area to handle the power. As you start to change compounds and materials, you get a different type of engagement and disengagement and a stiffer pedal feel. This particular clutch is still a single-disc design. And it keeps the same overall design as the stock clutch. This isn't a puck style clutch. But the disc is made from an organic compound which happens to be a more forgiving compound. It has a higher clamping load, and to be specific, it can handle up to 734 foot pounds of torque. But the nice thing about this compound is it doesn't change drivability, and it doesn't have a negative impact on pedal feel. The pedal feel has to do with the material of the clutch disc. And with this clutch being made from organic compound, it means that the clutch is gonna have a smooth engagement with very low pedal effort. This is gonna have a firm pedal feel, but not a stiff or rigid pedal. The pedal feel, paired with the performance of the clutch, means that this is a good clutch for cars that see some track or drive time but that also spend a lot of time on the street. This clutch is designed specifically for the MT-82 trans, which is a 23-spine transmission. It's gonna come with your pressure plate, your clutch disc, an alignment tool, and a pilot bearing as well. You will need to figure out what you plan on doing with your flywheel. You can always re-service your current flywheel, but I'd recommend purchasing a new Exedy flywheel, because you know it will mate with the new clutch perfectly and allow your clutch to function to the best of its ability. When it comes to price, you can expect to spend between $300 and $400 for this clutch. This is the most affordable option that's currently out there as far as upgrades go. But you do have some other clutches that are very close in price. But don't forget about your flywheel. And depending on which material flywheel you want, you're looking at spending a few hundred dollars more.I'm sure you guys already expected this, but the install here is not easy. It's a lot of work. So you need some experience to get this done yourself. And a lift is gonna be your best friend. If you don't have access to these things, it might be best to just take the car to a shop for the install. Overall, this is a three out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter here. it should take about four hours to complete. You do need a drop for your trans, which means you need to unbolt your exhaust and drop it from mid pipe back and your driveshaft as well. You'll have to drop your starter and unbolt the bell housing to get the MT-82 out of the way, so you can get to the clutch. Once the stock clutch is out of the way, you're ready for the new clutch. The only other thing I wanted to mention here is to make sure you follow the break-in period with the clutch if you want the clutch to be smooth and have a long life. Wrapping things up here with the Exedy Mach 500 Stage 3 clutch, this is a street strip application clutch that's capable of holding up to 734 foot pounds of torque at the flywheel and will still maintain a very light pedal feel, thanks to the organic compound of the clutch disc. As always, I suggest you check this out more online for yourself. And for all things Mustang, keep it right here at americanmuscle.com.

It's recommended that you add an SR Performance Braided Stainless Steel Hydraulic Clutch Line during your new clutch install. Stock plastic clutch lines can fail during aggressive driving. Stainless steel clutch lines help prevent gear lockout and provide superior clutch pedal feel, even under the toughest conditions.
