    Review & Install Video

This is the Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan for 2005 to 2014 GT and GT500 Mustangs. This is a direct fit replacement upgrade cooling fan, and you could be checking this thing out for a few different reasons. If you're just looking to replacing your stock fan, this could be an option. Or if you're looking for an upgraded fan to pair with other cooling system upgrades like a radiator, this could be a good option for you, too. Whether your car is stock or you have some modifications, upgrading your fan is gonna help keep your temperatures down. People upgrade their fans to help battle summer heat or keep things cool after they add some mods to their Mustang and have more horsepower. Since this is a direct fit replacement, the install for this fan is very easy. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, and you can plan on spending two hours getting this on the car. This fan is more powerful than the factory GT fan is when you look at cooling ability. This is the cooling fan that comes stock on 2013 Shelby GT500, which is made for higher performance demands. The SVT fan is about a one-half inch larger than the factory GT fan is. It also has seven blades that are smaller in size than the six blades that are on the factory GT fan. This design allows the SVT fan to flow more air, both at high speeds and also at idle. The SVT fan also has four slides that are on the bottom. These open from air crush when you're driving at high speeds, which opens up more air flow. The other difference is that the fan motor is thinner than the stock GT fan motor. It doesn't stick out as far on the engine side. This being a Ford Performance part that comes stuck on some models means that this has some other plus sides, too. First of all, you can guarantee the Ford Performance quality and fitment. If Ford Performance tells you that this is a direct fit replacement, then it's a direct fit replacement. This is gonna be a direct bolt and upgrade for the GT and a replacement for the GT500, even your wiring and your plugs. It fits in the factory location without any issues or modifications. Ford Performance and the product page said that these would not fit the V6 Mustang because it's not a direct fit replacement for the V6. Customers have mentioned that they've installed this on the V6, but you will need to make some modifications mostly to the fan trout itself for it to fit in the front end of the V6. So for you guys out there that are thinking about it, I know it's been done in the past but I'm still gonna stick with saying that this is only for the GT and the GT500. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay just over $200 for this cooling fan. This is a Ford Performance part that's originally equipped on the '13 GT500. So if you compare it to other options on the site, you'll notice that this is a little bit more expensive, but the other fan options are universal fit and they're not OE performance-based options. And overall, I wouldn't say that this is expensive. This price point makes this fan a good option for someone just looking to replace a stock fan or for someone building a car that needs more cooling ability from the cooling system. The install is easy. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter since this is a direct fit replacement. You can plan on spending an hour or two getting this on the car. You will need some basic hand tools but nothing out of the ordinary to get the install done. You'll start the install by pulling the cover that's on the red. This is held in by plastic retainers that you can gently pry up on. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor and unplug it. You will need to remove the air filter and the intake assembly. When it comes to the coolant reservoir, you can completely remove it or you can tilt it back out of the way. It's gonna be up to you. If you wanna remove it, you'll need to disconnect the hoses running to it and unbolt it from the car. After that, you need to unbolt the factory fan. There will be a few bolts that you need to back out, and you'll need to unclip the electrical connection, too. You're gonna remove the factory fan by pulling off on it until it clears the car. You may need to shift it back and forth to get it free. The new fan only uses two bolts. You'll install this fan in the reverse order and button everything back up that you took off the car. After the install is complete, you're gonna wanna start the car and let it get to operating temperature. Check for any fluid leaks and make sure that the fan works properly, and that's all it's gonna take. That's gonna wrap things up for the Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan for the 2005 to 2014 GT and GT500. You can always check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

    Anyone installed this on a Paxton/Vortech car? I have a 2014 V7 JTB (8 rib)

    • Unfortunately, we have not tested the fitment of this fan along with a Paxton/Vortech supercharger and would not be able to guarantee fitment on this part with those superchargers. However, this should also fit with a Paxton/Vortech kit.

So the cooling fan sits right behind the radiator?

    • Correct, the fan would be positioned behind the radiator.

    • The Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan will move significantly more air than your stock fan, though on/off temps will be controlled by the PCM. On/Off temps for the fans can be set via a custom tune.

If adding a 160 degree thermostat with the performance fan, Is there any computer control recommendations for on an off temps?

    • The Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan will not have built in controls, however an aftermarket tune can be used to adjust fan on/off temps. A tuner such as the Bama X4/SF4 Power Flash Tuner will have this ability.

      Better cooling for the price!

Great cooling fan for the price! Been waiting for a few weeks for them to come back into stock. Greater cooling efficiency than the stock cooling fan! Grab one while they have them in stock! Well worth the price!

      Great pricing on this

Once again the American Muscle team has the best pricing on the parts i need. After several mods my 2012 GT was running a bit warm so I wanted the extra cooling of this GT 500 fan. Arrived quickly and was an easy install. Considerable difference in CFM with this fan. Very happy I made this upgrade

      Cooling fan Upgrade

The installation was pretty easy, worse thing was getting the stock fan electrical connection apart. My ‘05 only has 2 bolts holding the original fan housing in place, so that was nice. While everything was apart I took the time to clean everything up that you normally cannot get to. I seen where some people modified the housing so the power steering reservoir would mount correctly. I did not have to do this with the Moroso aluminum reservoir, it bolted in perfectly. Took out for a test run and after warm up I turned on Max a/c and ran the car briskly. It never went over 193-4 degrees. Temps outside were around 85 degrees. Looking forward to 90 temps to try again.

GT500 fan upgrade works great on my TVS car!

My Roush TVS Coyote was having some overheating issues when the stock fan crapped out on me. I don’t have the money for a $700 Afco or VMP dual fan heat exchanger, so I opted for this fan upgrade. So far so good! Temps use to hang around 200 regularly, and would hit as high as 228 on hot days or after just a few pulls. With this fan, a Reische 170 thermostat and my VMP tune, the car hasn’t gone above 200 degrees yet. I’m even still using the stock radiator and heat exchanger from the Roush supercharger kit! Good piece of mind and money well spent. Keeping a 600 whp car cool is hard work!

      No overheating so far

I had the garage install this fan along with a new water pump (Edelbrock), radiator, hoses and 160 Degree Thermostat (the latter three all Mishimoto). I was having over heating issues (suddenly) last fall and decided to just overhaul the whole cooling system. In hindsight this fan was probably all I needed (the relay switch anyway) as it seemed the Fan was not coming on when it should. Regardless so far so good! And if it overheats again I give up and Auto Trader here I come. All parts must have been easy to install as what I thought would be a full day job for the garage took 2-3 hours. (Note the cost of install is for all parts). I assume the fit was perfect. For me the performance gain is 5 stars because up till now I was afraid to take the car on any road trips given the over heating.

      Running smoother and cooler

Installed the SVT fan, coolant flush, thermostat and Red Line water wetter. Car runs noticeably smoother and 8-10 degrees cooler at highway speeds. After engine is turned off intake air temp is 15-20 degrees cooler. I was thinking about getting the Ford Performance Aluminum Radiator but not sure I need it now. Will wait to see what the engine temps are in summer. I have a Roush phase 3 SC with Brendspeed 710HP tune and want to keep the heat down as much as possible.

This product is another great part made by Ford Performance. As described the install was very easy, took about 45 minutes from start to finish. I now can count on better cooling. The upgraded Ford Performance Radiator is next in line. You will not be disappointed by upgrading your mustang with the AM product.

      Works great no more issues

I purchased this man after my stock fan resistor and wiring harness melted at the race track and caused the car to over hear. I made sure that wouldn't happen again so I installed this fan along with the BOSS 302S all aluminum ford racing radiator. I also ran an extra ground for the fan harness which I would recommend while installing this as I've noticed it's a some what common issue on these cars to melt. I took her back to the track the day after install and ran her 4 times and she ran perfect and cool no issues what so ever.
