Review & Install Video

This is the Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan for 2005 to 2014 GT and GT500 Mustangs. This is a direct fit replacement upgrade cooling fan, and you could be checking this thing out for a few different reasons. If you're just looking to replacing your stock fan, this could be an option. Or if you're looking for an upgraded fan to pair with other cooling system upgrades like a radiator, this could be a good option for you, too. Whether your car is stock or you have some modifications, upgrading your fan is gonna help keep your temperatures down. People upgrade their fans to help battle summer heat or keep things cool after they add some mods to their Mustang and have more horsepower. Since this is a direct fit replacement, the install for this fan is very easy. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter, and you can plan on spending two hours getting this on the car. This fan is more powerful than the factory GT fan is when you look at cooling ability. This is the cooling fan that comes stock on 2013 Shelby GT500, which is made for higher performance demands. The SVT fan is about a one-half inch larger than the factory GT fan is. It also has seven blades that are smaller in size than the six blades that are on the factory GT fan. This design allows the SVT fan to flow more air, both at high speeds and also at idle. The SVT fan also has four slides that are on the bottom. These open from air crush when you're driving at high speeds, which opens up more air flow. The other difference is that the fan motor is thinner than the stock GT fan motor. It doesn't stick out as far on the engine side. This being a Ford Performance part that comes stuck on some models means that this has some other plus sides, too. First of all, you can guarantee the Ford Performance quality and fitment. If Ford Performance tells you that this is a direct fit replacement, then it's a direct fit replacement. This is gonna be a direct bolt and upgrade for the GT and a replacement for the GT500, even your wiring and your plugs. It fits in the factory location without any issues or modifications. Ford Performance and the product page said that these would not fit the V6 Mustang because it's not a direct fit replacement for the V6. Customers have mentioned that they've installed this on the V6, but you will need to make some modifications mostly to the fan trout itself for it to fit in the front end of the V6. So for you guys out there that are thinking about it, I know it's been done in the past but I'm still gonna stick with saying that this is only for the GT and the GT500. When it comes to price, you can expect to pay just over $200 for this cooling fan. This is a Ford Performance part that's originally equipped on the '13 GT500. So if you compare it to other options on the site, you'll notice that this is a little bit more expensive, but the other fan options are universal fit and they're not OE performance-based options. And overall, I wouldn't say that this is expensive. This price point makes this fan a good option for someone just looking to replace a stock fan or for someone building a car that needs more cooling ability from the cooling system. The install is easy. It's a one out of three wrenches in the difficulty meter since this is a direct fit replacement. You can plan on spending an hour or two getting this on the car. You will need some basic hand tools but nothing out of the ordinary to get the install done. You'll start the install by pulling the cover that's on the red. This is held in by plastic retainers that you can gently pry up on. Disconnect the mass air flow sensor and unplug it. You will need to remove the air filter and the intake assembly. When it comes to the coolant reservoir, you can completely remove it or you can tilt it back out of the way. It's gonna be up to you. If you wanna remove it, you'll need to disconnect the hoses running to it and unbolt it from the car. After that, you need to unbolt the factory fan. There will be a few bolts that you need to back out, and you'll need to unclip the electrical connection, too. You're gonna remove the factory fan by pulling off on it until it clears the car. You may need to shift it back and forth to get it free. The new fan only uses two bolts. You'll install this fan in the reverse order and button everything back up that you took off the car. After the install is complete, you're gonna wanna start the car and let it get to operating temperature. Check for any fluid leaks and make sure that the fan works properly, and that's all it's gonna take. That's gonna wrap things up for the Ford Performance SVT Performance Cooling Fan for the 2005 to 2014 GT and GT500. You can always check it out more online right here at americanmuscle.com.

    Cool Runnings.

I bought this along with a Ford Racing Aluminum Radiator. You can not only see the temp stay down but you can also hear the difference in how powerful the fan is. It is not louder but in fact quieter than the stock fan (like a high spinning but well balanced fan rather than a badly balenced slower fan). It gives you peace of mind in having that beast of an engine cool. I live in south Texas where the the average temperature is in the high 90's and it is great to know that no matter how hard or long i push my baby it won't even break a sweat. I highly recommend getting this performance cooling fan for peace of mind. and having the factory warranty still cover it isn't bad ether.

Keep things cooler with an SVT cooling fan

I purchased this item as a replacement for a still functioning OE fan assembly to help battle the summer heat in Georgia. It was a fairly straightforward removal and replacement; mine was done with no existing replacement guide using a few basic hand tools in almost 90 minutes. Working on submitting my guide now to help out the next person. Recommend this product to those who drive their 2005+ Mustangs in the manner for which they were designed.

Works On The V6 SOHC With Simple Very Minor Modification

Installed this fan in a Supercharged 2006 V6 Pony Package. The info states it is not compatible with the V6 Mustang. While technically true only one simple modification to a stiffening rib on the fan shroud in the area where the power steering reservoir mounts was necessary. Took less than 2 minutes with a drum sander to fix the fitment issue. Other than that the fan fits perfectly and the existing V6 wiring harness plugs directly into it. The fan runs perfectly and keeps my supercharged 4.0SOHC V6 engine cooler than the stock fan did. I also install a Mishimoto all aluminum radiator at the same time replacing a failed AFCO all aluminum radiator I had been running. Again the fit was a non issue GT vs V6.

    Ford Quality

I purchased this item for additional insurance against over heating. I combined it with an Edlebrock water pump and an aluminum radiator. The fan assembly is a direct replacement for the factory fan and as such is a perfect fit. It moves a lot more air and was priced right. No matter what modifications I make to the engine in the future, the cooling system can handle it.

    Fan Upgrade

I recently had an issue with my 2014 GT cooling fan. I had to replace the pigtail connector for the fan so I decided to upgrade to this SVT model. So far so good. Fan seems to work very well. Temps seem to run 190 - 200 degrees on hot days and around 210 when the A/C is on in traffic. It definitely sounds different than the stock unit and I'm assuming because it's moving more air.

    Easy Install,

My fan went out on a Saturday night and AM's quick shipping saved the day BIG TIME. I ordered late on Sunday night and had it to install by Tuesday afternoon. My wife fell ill at work the next morning and I had to rush to go see her at the hospital. If AM hadn't delivered so fast I wouldn't have had a working car that day. Thanks AM, your quick shipping made a big difference! Keep up the good work! All is good now, and the fan works like a champ. It's an effective improvement for only a few bucks more than the stock GT fan and shroud. For those wondering it has additional inlets across the bottom of the shroud for increased ambient airflow. Also, the fan has an extra blade which lets it spin at a slower speed achieving the same airflow as the stock GT fan, and at full speed it moves significantly more air. Overall it is a bit quieter when it kicks on as well.

Cant go wrong with FORD RACING

My Mustang was running too hot for my liking so I needed something to reduce the heat and this was the answer. There is 7 fan blades instead of the 6 on the original. Its a Ford Racing product so why wouldn't you get this for your Ford. I read the other reviews on here and took the advice of making the connectoer fit before installing so I had no issues dropping the fan in. I recommend this fan to anyone. The delivery was quick, thank American Muscle

    Bad unit

I was excited to upgrade my 2014 Gt Track pack with this good performance cooling fan until it gave out on me! I only had the fan for about two months or so hen it decided to go out on me in which my vehicle began to over heat. I called AM and they stated that they would not send me another unit even though I only had it in for a little over two months or so. Yes I am disappointed in the fact that the cooling fan went out on me so soon. I don't think I will be going with this cooling fan anymore.

    Don't Wait

Like another person on here, my stock fan went out at 48,000 miles. I then found out that electric fan failures are common. When they go, they sometimes ruin the plug as they connection gets very hot! If the plug goes bad you are looking at buying a new wiring harness - around $1100 as Ford does not sell just the plug. Ouch... Anyway, the new fan is great and was already on my wish list of mods. Has 7 fins instead of 6 and has some louvres that open when you are going down the road, providing more air flow over the engine compartment. The stock fan does not have louvres, and is solid instead. This fan is stock for the GT500 and so good insurance to keep your pony performing all year long.

    SVT Performance Colling Fan

Bought this for my 2010 Mustang GT to go along with an aluminum radiator upgrade. I routinely track my car and was looking to improve cooling for the hot Florida summers. Part arrived in good condition and looks to be a quality unit. Installed but have not yet run the car to see how it works. However based on literature and other customer comments I expect that it will improve the airflow and improve cooling of the engine over the factory setup, especially when running on the track.

Best plug and play fan on the market for an s197

I have a fully built supercharged GT/CS that makes a ton of power and creates a lot of heat. My coolant temps would average 205 around town and on the highway. Swapped out the stock fan for the 2013 GT500 fan. My coolant temps average 195-197 now. For anyone that is concerned with keeping your investment safe from heat-induced wear, GET THIS FAN!!!!!

I installed this fan because my stock '14 GT track pack fan burned up at 48,000 miles. I installed this fan in 45 minutes with no issues. The car runs noticeably cooler, and you can hear the difference in the fan power and quality. It even made my AC run a bit cooler. Great product.
