Run Cooler. Increase the cooling efficiency of your S197 V8 Pony by upgrading to a Mishimoto Performance 160 Degree Racing Thermostat. By installing this racing thermostat, your high engine temperatures will be significantly reduced, which will help to prevent overheating and potential engine damage in modified and forced induction applications.

More Power. Opening at a lower temperature over stock, this Mishimoto Performance Racing Thermostat ultimately aids in producing more power for your Pony. It will open at 160 °F, compared to the standard OEM factory thermostat at 180 °F, and will allow coolant to flow through the engine block sooner. This will reduce and maintain cooler engine temperatures and therefore, produce more power.

Application. This Mishimoto 160 Degree Racing Thermostat is specifically designed for use on 2005 to 2010 Mustangs equipped with the 4.6L V8 engine, including the GT, Bullitt and Shelby GT500 models.

            Not cool!!

Giving it a 2 Star.... Doesn’t really keep it at a constant rate of 160deg. All it did was made to where the car takes a bit longer to get to 180deg and stays there. Not sure if I got a diffective one or not, but I was expecting it to maintain a 160deg temp.

            Coolio

Wow, I did not expect the engine temp to drop like this. I mean it's winter in Texas, but she runs significantly cooler now. The gauge used to be about 1/3 to half way between C and H. Now it stays in the 1/4 closest to C. Updated tune helps too. I don't know that I see a change in "performance" but she does run colder now.

            Stays cooler all the time!

I had some overheating issues and tried replacing my hoses , reservoir bin and radiator in case there were coolant leaks, but to no avail. We ended up switching the thermostat housing, we so went with the Mishimoto Racing Thermostat...and let me just say : It's absolutely amazing! Not only has this item helped reduce overheating almost completely , but my "normal" temp is actually at 5/16 of the gauge, instead of halfway as previously marked. Initially i thought it was still warming up in the morning , but no! It's ready to go one it hits that mark and its definitely helped so much! Thanks AM!

            2010 Mustang GT performance updgrade

This was recommended as part of a performance upgrade that included under drive pulley set, Alabama race tune, 3.73 rear gears, x pipe, short throw shift, KandN cold air, new clutch, flywheel and slave cylinder. After installing everything the pony now performs like it should.

            Mishimoto 160 Therm.

Easy install, major difference in motor performance. It appears the Ford motors like to run cool for max. effiency and power. This is great on stock 4.6L 3v motors as well as, a must on supercharged and or turbo.

Bought this for my E85 swap go help keep cool even more, after a 5 minute cool down from 2 dyno pulls temps went from 180-190s back down to 85 (outside air temp) works great.

            Performance thermo

Easy simple installation for a colder ride. With the addition of a Turbonotics system I needed something to help keep the engine cool. Along with a Megan Racing aluminum radiator and Mishimoto silicon hoses it's bound to stay cool.

            Ice Cold

Installed it in about 2 and a half hours. Did a test run with it after a coolant flush and adding new fresh coolant with some Purple Ice. Now the GT's temp gauge won't get much above a quarter of the way running at 85 MPH and all warmed up. Good stuff. Keeping it real cool, hopefully will help battle the extreme heat that'll be coming soon too. Definitely a good product.

            Cooling down the heat!

I had this installed at the dealer with a coolant flush since I hit 75k on the clock. It's summertime in Florida and the heat is on in a big way. Since changing to the Comp stage 3 cams and the summer sun she's been running up there in temp when the A/C is on max. This change brought it back down to a comfortable temp range.
