I’m Justin with AmericanMuscle.com, and today I have with me 3 different brake pad options, all from Hawk Performance. We’re looking at the ceramic, the HPS, and the HP+, for both front and rear that will offer a broad range of performance that will suit everything from a bone stock daily driver, to an all out race course monster. Any one of these pads will far outperform your stock pads in just about every way, more braking performance, less fade and dust. However it’s very important you select the right pad for your application, so with that in mind, let’s break these 3 options down a little further. First up is the ceramic option from Hawk. These are going to be an ideal OE replacement and be perfectly suited for any daily driver, they’re going to bite strong without needing to be hot, be very quiet, and offer very minimal dust. This is all thanks to that ceramic compounds, which offers a nice balance between performance and everyday streetability. The next pad, the Hawk HPS will be right in the middle between the ceramics and the HP+ and will be for a daily driver or a weekend warrior, whose car does see a little track time and are just looking for a little bit more bite, and less fade. These pads utilize a therocarbon compound which does benefit from a little heat in order to perform their best but still offer great performance when cold. It is worth pointing out that these pads can be a little noisy when cold, and will definitely put off a little bit more dust than the ceramics, but all around, the HPS are a solid performer. Finally, we have the HP+. These are going to be for someone who subjects their Mustang to road courses and auto crossing where repetitive fade and high heat can kill lesser pads. Can you use these pads on the street? Yes, however, these pads feature a high temperature specific compound with a very high friction coefficient, which means these pads need to be hot and stay hot in order to perform at their best, like on a road course or an auto cross track. Once hot, these HP+ pads will bite hard, and offer great performance with very little fade, these pads tend to be very noisy and put off a good amount of dust, however since they’re geared more towards a race car versus a show car, most folks should be fine with that. Installing these pads from Hawk or any brake pads at that matter is a pretty simple task if you’ve never tackled brakes before. Due to the aggressive compounds of these pads, Hawk included a grease, to be used in conjunction with the included shim located on the back of the pad just to keep the noise level down. It’s very important that you use the grease on the back of the pad and not on the front of the pad, just so you don’t mess up your new brakes. Overall, getting the fronts and rears installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. When it comes down to it, brake pads and tires are 2 of the biggest factors when it comes to helping your car stop faster. So try upgrading your Mustang to a quality pad like one of these Hawk options, and discover the difference in your braking performance.

I ordered these new brake pads hoping I’d get good results from them. Put them on and heard nothing but squeaking the last two weeks since they arrived . I purchased new clips since the kit doesn’t come with them .. and still heard squeaking . After working on them for a majority of both weeks .. I finally purchased new brake pads from o’Reilly’s and heard nothing after .Helpful (3)

I put these pads on for autocross and track days. They have excellent grip! On the occasion that I drive the Mustang to work, they do squeal quite a bit, but this is not my daily driver. Perfect for my use.Helpful (6)

Hawk HP Plus Pads
Great pads when paired with Stop Tech slotted rotors. GREAT stopping ability when compared to stock (Obviously) although they can be really squeaky when cold, which is almost all the time on a daily. When installing these, almost every pad had at least one clip detach without much effort. thought it was maybe just bad luck with one pad, but every time I installed a pad it happened. The clips keep the pad away from the rotor when the brakes are not engaged.. can't help but think that my pads are wearing out prematurely now.. Caution when dealing with that.Helpful (8)

Excellent Stopping Power!
I recently ran these pads at Road Atlanta against a set of freshly turned stock rotors. I installed the pads and rotors at the track and followed the "bedding-in" procedures recommended by Hawk. They are a bit noisy when cold, but initial bite is excellent and they are incredible when at operating temperature. I ran these pads on all 4 corners with JLT brake cooling ducts on the fronts, and I had zero issues with fade, fluid boil or dust boot failures. Using an IR temperature probe, I measured my front rotor temps in the pits after each 20-minute session(which included a single cool-down lap) and the temps on the front rotors were around 250-275 degrees. Pad and caliper temperature never exceeded 180 degrees. They do produce quite a bit of dust, but this is to be expected with this type of pad. I would highly recommend these as an excellent Track Day pad considering the price point.Helpful (8)

Significant difference over stock
very important to bed in the brakes. I did the full procedure and I didn't have any squeaking at low speed. I switch out the daily driver pads the night before track in about an hour. If used stock, centric and Hawk, the Hawk brakes work, period. No issues doing 30 - 60 minutes track sessions.Helpful (5)

Hawk pad power stop
The stopping power is great combined with a PowerSlot Rotor. American Muscle has the best customers service when it comes performance for your car. The only issue i have is it makes a lot of noise when coming to a complete stop. I recommend this product as long as squeaky noise isn't an issue for buyer.Helpful (7)

Very good track pads that can be used on the street
I am impressed with these pads. They are the first racing pad I have used. Once warm they have incredible stopping power. The brake pedal feels too soft when they are cold, usually when first driving on the street. I purchased these for a track day and had planned on using them full time and just replacing them when needed. You can drive with them on the street safely, but I am going to purchase a street/strip pair of pads and keep these for track days. There is some squeal when cold but that is expected for track pads. Make Sure you have a caliper piston tool!!! The rear pistons will not retract unless you rotate them while they have pressure!!!!!! You can rent or purchase that tool from your local auto parts houseHelpful (8)

Don't buy for street use. Excellent on track!
Have used for two weekends now with no brake fade at mid Ohio (about four hours of track time). Work great on track but they are very noisy on the street (extremely annoying). Will definitely buy them again for track use. Would stick to the HPS for street use.Helpful (8)
