    I’m Justin with, and today I have with me 3 different brake pad options, all from Hawk Performance. We’re looking at the ceramic, the HPS, and the HP+, for both front and rear that will offer a broad range of performance that will suit everything from a bone stock daily driver, to an all out race course monster. Any one of these pads will far outperform your stock pads in just about every way, more braking performance, less fade and dust. However it’s very important you select the right pad for your application, so with that in mind, let’s break these 3 options down a little further. First up is the ceramic option from Hawk. These are going to be an ideal OE replacement and be perfectly suited for any daily driver, they’re going to bite strong without needing to be hot, be very quiet, and offer very minimal dust. This is all thanks to that ceramic compounds, which offers a nice balance between performance and everyday streetability. The next pad, the Hawk HPS will be right in the middle between the ceramics and the HP+ and will be for a daily driver or a weekend warrior, whose car does see a little track time and are just looking for a little bit more bite, and less fade. These pads utilize a therocarbon compound which does benefit from a little heat in order to perform their best but still offer great performance when cold. It is worth pointing out that these pads can be a little noisy when cold, and will definitely put off a little bit more dust than the ceramics, but all around, the HPS are a solid performer. Finally, we have the HP+. These are going to be for someone who subjects their Mustang to road courses and auto crossing where repetitive fade and high heat can kill lesser pads. Can you use these pads on the street? Yes, however, these pads feature a high temperature specific compound with a very high friction coefficient, which means these pads need to be hot and stay hot in order to perform at their best, like on a road course or an auto cross track. Once hot, these HP+ pads will bite hard, and offer great performance with very little fade, these pads tend to be very noisy and put off a good amount of dust, however since they’re geared more towards a race car versus a show car, most folks should be fine with that. Installing these pads from Hawk or any brake pads at that matter is a pretty simple task if you’ve never tackled brakes before. Due to the aggressive compounds of these pads, Hawk included a grease, to be used in conjunction with the included shim located on the back of the pad just to keep the noise level down. It’s very important that you use the grease on the back of the pad and not on the front of the pad, just so you don’t mess up your new brakes. Overall, getting the fronts and rears installed should only take you about 2 hours from start to finish. When it comes down to it, brake pads and tires are 2 of the biggest factors when it comes to helping your car stop faster. So try upgrading your Mustang to a quality pad like one of these Hawk options, and discover the difference in your braking performance.

    Auto Cross. Hawk Performance's HP Plus brake pads were developed and manufactured especially for sport driving applications such as autocross, Solo II, and "track day" events.

    Superior Braking. The HP Plus pads utilizes a unique Ferro-Carbon, high-tech friction material that has an extremely high friction coefficient making the pads "fade resistant" under repetitive, heavy braking conditions for excellent stopping power.

    Application. This set of Hawk HP Plus Performance Brake Pads are specifically designed to be used on the rear of the 2005 to 2012 V6, GT, Bullitt, Boss 302 and Shelby GT500 Mustangs. Set includes driver-side and passenger-side brake pads.

            Worked well - a lot of "squeaking"

            Worked well. Squeaked a lot, even after I tried to coat the back of the pads twice.

            More for the track

            Great stopping power when paired with the StopTech cross drilled rotors for front and rear on my 2014 GT500. It provides far better bite than the stock brake pad and rotor combo when trying to stop on a dime. However, as far as my vehicle being a daily driver, the materials used for the pad are intended more for track use and squeak more than street use pads would. So if you aren't bothered by the noise when coming to slow rolling stops, these are the pads for you. They are quite sensitive to being dirty, so a quick wash off with a pressure washer helps for a bit. But the they do create a lot of brake dust and it builds up fast, so wheel cleanliness is hard to maintain.

            Great stopping, lots of noise

            These pads made a significant difference in stopping ability! Brake fade was much less than the pads I had been running. The only downside is they squeal a lot driving around town. The Mustang is not my daily driver, but it did get annoying when I did drive it. I will be using these for track days only going forward.

            total stoppage duuuuuuuudee

            Seriously these did great, installed on stock calipers and rotors for rear. Made a huge difference in the stopping power especially when paired with the complete brembo set up on the front. Surprisingly quite for performance pads, minimal squeaking on first few stops after one good heat cycle no noise present from pads.

            Great Pads

            My Boss should have had these pads in the first place. Initial bite is fantastic and the modulation and release is excellent as well. They will squeak a little at slow speeds, but no more than 5% of the time when coming to a complete stop.

            Excellent Track Day Pads!

            I recently ran these pads at Road Atlanta against a set of freshly turned stock rotors. I installed the pads and rotors at the track and followed the "bedding-in" procedures recommended by Hawk. They are a bit noisy when cold, but initial bite is excellent and they are incredible when at operating temperature. I ran these pads on all 4 corners with JLT brake cooling ducts on the fronts, and I had zero issues with fade or dust boot failures. An excellent Track Day pad considering the price point.

            This product worked great and was less expensive than other track options.

            Shopped around for an inexpensive Track/Street brake pad. Pads fit great and performed as advertised. I used them at Road Atlanta during an SCCA PDX event an was very happy with there performance. The brake dust wasn't much worse than the stock pads. They also worked very well on the street. I would recommend them to any one who does Track days. Not sure how they work as a racing pad but they are a great inexpensive solution for my Track/Street car.

            Good stopping power but heat caused issues

            Installed these on a stock 2012 Ford Mustang GT. Stock rotors, calipers. Pads were bedded in as instructed. Used them at 1 HPDE track event for about 2 hours of total track time in 20 to 30 minute segments. Got home to take off the track pads and discovered my dust boots on the piston calipers were melted. 1 spring retainer came off of each of the front pads. May have been to aggressive for my stock set up. Waiting on feedback from Hawk and AmericanMuscle for suggestions on next steps. AmericanMuscle staff was great in helping me choose these pads.

            Nice upgrade

            Just used the HP Plus front and rear along with steel lines on the track. What a difference over the HPS. Very confident no fade breaking at very high speed with high temps on the rotors and pads. So far no noise, so keeping them on while normal driving. These are dusty, but expected.

            great pad for track/autocross use and more bang for your buck.

            These pads are amazing during my track session. They have amazing bit once properly warmed up and never did I feel brake fade. My stock rotors took a beating with no warping at all. My set up was stock rotors in front and rear with the Hawk Hp Plus in front and rear as well. These pads are not for daily driving. They are very load high pitch under normal driving condition. Only use for track/autocross or Drag events.

            Hawk Ferro-Carbon brake pads

            A must have if you "track" your car with the Brembo brake system. Will leave dust on wheels, the longer left on the harder to get off. Be sure to wax wheels before race (helps get the dust off). An excellent product.

            Need to stop?

            HP+ pads are much better than the HPS pads at stopping your Stang. I installed these REAR pads after running an HPDS event with only front HP+ pads..... now I have much more even stopping power. Brake dust is an issue.

            Don't get for street. Excellent on track!

            Have used for two weekends now with no brake fade at mid Ohio (about four hours of track time). Work great on track but they are very noisy on the street (extremely annoying). Will definitely buy them again for track use. Would stick to the HPS for street use.

            Hawk Performance HP Plus

            These brake pads do have great stopping power for being a simple pad upgrade, but if you plan on running them on the streets, be prepared for a massive amount of squeaking and brake dust. Also, you do have to warm them up a bit for them to get good initial bite. For autocross, they are certainly the right pads for the job so for that reason, I would recommend them

            Hawk HPS Plus brake pads are Outstanding

            Hawk HPS Plus brake pads IMO are one of the best street/track day pads available. For all out racing there are better track only pads, but changing brake pads at the track is a big pain. So these offer the braking power of race pads without the need to change pads for the drive home.

            Great Pads!

            Just installed this pads a few days ago. These are definitely way better than the stock pads for the 2011 shelby gt500. Highly recommend when your pads are in need of replace. You will feel a huge difference and the stopping distance!
