    Review & Install Video

Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and welcome to my review of the Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for your 2015 and up Mustang GT. If you're looking for a mod that's going to deliver more power and more sound for south of 200 bucks, well, guess what, the Heartthrob Resonator Delete is going to be for you. Now as we heard with the sound clips, guys, this thing is definitely going to change the sound of your exhaust system, even with those factory mufflers in place. Easy two out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. Factor in an aftermarket axleback down the road, and this thing is going to be loud. It's going to give you that raspy race car tone you can expect from an X-Pipe, and again, it's going to free up some power by eliminating that restrictive factory resonator. Now, my one nitpick with this is it's aluminized steel. It's two and a half inch mandrel bend. I mean, you can't really mess up an X-Pipe for the most part. It's pretty simple by design, but by using that aluminized steel, sure they're keeping the cost down and everything like that, but it's not going to be as good at reducing corrosion as some of the more pricier materials such as stainless steel 409 or even 304. With that being said, though, this is one of the most affordable products when it comes to X-Pipes or H-Pipes on the site here. Speaking of H-Pipes, if you prefer that old school muscle car rumble, Heartthrob does offer the same exact Resonator Delete cut and clamp pipe, but with an H-Pipe configuration, it's going to lower that thumping tone a little bit, going to get rid of some of that rasp. A good idea, if you plan on pairing it up with a more aggressive axleback. But getting down to install, guys, again, cut and clamp, so, obvious statement of the day here, you do have to cut when installing this. Make sure you have a Sawzall or something similar on hand. A nice, fresh, metal blade is the best advice I can give you. Safety tip, of course make sure you have your eyeglasses or safety glasses on hand before getting started, and it's going to be a two out of three on my one to three scale of difficulty. It's not exactly hard but because you have to cut, we'll knock it up to a three. And maybe about an hour or two from start to finish in overall time of install. So to wrap things up here guys, here's my thoughts with the Heartthrob, right? This thing is affordable, again, under 200 bucks. In the world of S500 exhaust systems, that's a very big rarity. And it delivers, as we heard. It's going to give you some more sound, it's going to free up some power, and it's going to do so without breaking the bank. So be sure to check out Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete for your S550 right here, at AmericanMuscle.com.

Improves Exhaust Flow. Add even more horsepower and torque to the rear wheels of your coyote Powered S550 Mustang by replacing your restrictive factory Resonator Mid-pipe with a free flowing Heartthrob X-Pipe. A Heartthrob X-Pipe will greatly improve your pony's exhaust flow for an increase in overall performance.

Race Car Growl. Heartthrob's free flowing X-Pipe for the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs not only increases power, but it also adds a loud raspy, race car growl to the sound of your exhaust with its modern "X" crossover pipe design.

Reuses Stock Cats. This Heartthrob X-Pipe requires cutting and removing the factory Mid Pipe resonator and clamps in place reusing the stock clamps. Best of all it reuses the factory catalytic converters saving you money and keeping you smog legal at the same time.

Durable Construction. Constructed from free-flowing mandrel bent aluminized steel tubing for long lasting durability, this Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Mid Pipe will improve exhaust flow to provide a significant increase in power and sound.

Application. The Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe is specifically designed for use on the 2015-2018 GT Mustangs equipped with the coyote 5.0L DOHC V8 engine.

Is this a 2.5" or 2.75" diameter? I plan on buying a Roush axleback at the same time and installing both simultaneously. Will I encounter any fitment issues, or should the project be smooth sailing (simple cut and clamp) as advertised?

    Steve

    • The Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe is 2.75" diameter. You will not have any fitment issues installing the Roush Axle-back Exhaust, item 387039, https://www.americanmuscle.com/roush-axleback-2015gt.html along with the Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe.

      X Pipe

I paired this X pipe with the MBRP axle backs on my 2018 GT and let me tell yah, it sounds great. Install was a bit of a pain since Ford decided to change a few things on the 2018 exhaust but with a bit more cutting, everything fit great.

#1 in the top 3 mods that must be done!!!

You have to seriously Concider why you bought your car if you want it to sound like nothing coming down the street, like the webpage says mustangs are American muscle and should be heard. There’s no sound that any other vehicle makes like a stang and this small upgrade does the car justice. I’ve always swapped everything from the cat back the day I buy a new mustang and there’s no exception with my 2017. I’m not a fan of the new front end and fog lights so I decided to stick with the 2017 design choices and I’m glad I did! Tons of available options to change anything

      Expected more.

I thought I'd give this a try before looking into a cat-back. I'm not building a race car so I thought I could get away with ditching the resonator. The sound had changed a bit but not what I was looking for. If you paired it with axel backs you might be in better shape. I went cat-back shortly after. Fit will be as good as you are with a measuring tape and saw. mine was a little dinged up on one end but no issues going on. very easy install. I was able to do it just backing onto servicing ramps.

      Great X-pipe

This X-pipe fit perfect and is made well. I had a previous X-pipe on from another company and the sound note is much better with this one. Buy you won't be disappointed.

Give it that raspy deep tone

Easy install, paired it with the ford racing gt350 quad tip kit, sounds mean under load and fairly subtle while daily driving. Exactly what I wanted, deep raspy growl. Took about 20 minutes at my exhaust shop and 40 bucks.

      Heartthrob X pipe

Instructions are lacking and could use a revision. Cut stock pipes at 6.5 inches from resonator housing and fought it. Ended up cutting 7.5 inches and dropped the axel backs for a easy install. Sounds great with factory axel backs from idel to about 4500rpm. 5k and up a little raspy but nothing dramatic. A must have if you want to actyally hear the engine during normal driving conditions.

Works great on GT takeoff exhaust.

After watching countless videos of 3.7 sound clips with aftermarket cat-backs and axle backs, I never found a single one I liked. I decided to go with a GT exhaust and this Heartthrob X-pipe as their build quality has always been consistent and great for the money. I made the right choice, the car is not obnoxious and has a nice exotic tone to it. This is a great way to have nice sounding free-flowing exhaust without breaking the bank.

      Louder than expected

I already had the flowmaster outlaw axlebacks so I don't know how this x-pipe sounds with stock mufflers, but it made the car much louder than expected. I planned on installing long tubes after this, but now I feel they are not needed. Install took about an hour on a set of jackstands. Highly recommend this product.

      Great sound!

I have flowmaster axle backs and this made the whole exhaust come alive under heavy throttle. Definitely not as loud as I'd expect. It'll turn heads, but in a positive "oh that v8 sounds awesome" way. Not "look at that dbag trying to compensate" way.
