Hey everybody, I'm Justin with AmericanMuscle.com and welcome to my review of the Heartthrob Cut and Clamp Resonator Delete X-Pipe, available for your 2015 and up Mustang GT.
If you're looking for a mod that's going to deliver more power and more sound for south of 200 bucks, well, guess what, the Heartthrob Resonator Delete is going to be for you. Now as we heard with the sound clips, guys, this thing is definitely going to change the sound of your exhaust system, even with those factory mufflers in place. Easy two out of five on my one to five or one to wake the neighbors scale. Factor in an aftermarket axleback down the road, and this thing is going to be loud. It's going to give you that raspy race car tone you can expect from an X-Pipe, and again, it's going to free up some power by eliminating that restrictive factory resonator.
Now, my one nitpick with this is it's aluminized steel. It's two and a half inch mandrel bend. I mean, you can't really mess up an X-Pipe for the most part. It's pretty simple by design, but by using that aluminized steel, sure they're keeping the cost down and everything like that, but it's not going to be as good at reducing corrosion as some of the more pricier materials such as stainless steel 409 or even 304.
With that being said, though, this is one of the most affordable products when it comes to X-Pipes or H-Pipes on the site here.
Speaking of H-Pipes, if you prefer that old school muscle car rumble, Heartthrob does offer the same exact Resonator Delete cut and clamp pipe, but with an H-Pipe configuration, it's going to lower that thumping tone a little bit, going to get rid of some of that rasp. A good idea, if you plan on pairing it up with a more aggressive axleback.
But getting down to install, guys, again, cut and clamp, so, obvious statement of the day here, you do have to cut when installing this. Make sure you have a Sawzall or something similar on hand. A nice, fresh, metal blade is the best advice I can give you. Safety tip, of course make sure you have your eyeglasses or safety glasses on hand before getting started, and it's going to be a two out of three on my one to three scale of difficulty. It's not exactly hard but because you have to cut, we'll knock it up to a three. And maybe about an hour or two from start to finish in overall time of install.
So to wrap things up here guys, here's my thoughts with the Heartthrob, right? This thing is affordable, again, under 200 bucks. In the world of S500 exhaust systems, that's a very big rarity. And it delivers, as we heard. It's going to give you some more sound, it's going to free up some power, and it's going to do so without breaking the bank.
