Also what would the difference be between an air injected mustang and a non air injected? Just kind of confused when I saw "Does not accommodate air injection Mustangs" in the Specs

  • You shouldn't worry for that because if you had an "air injection" you'd certainly know about it. I installed these on my 2004 V6 and didn't have an "air injection" problem.

In the description is says " Not applicable to 3.9L V6s " Why is that? I have the 3.9 Liter 40th anniversary edition and its become a real pain to try and find a good set of headers.

  • It's about the carb certification in California for these headers. They haven't received a formal Carb certification for the 2004 model. It means that technically you can't install them on a 2004 if you live in CA. I did anyway and never had a problem to pass inspection because there is a carb sticker affixed on the headers.

Carb sticker? Does it comes with a carb sticker? I'm from california and it's really crazy here if they pulled you over (cops) and checked your hood. So I'm just wondering if it comes with a carb sticker. Thanks.

  • I don't remember the sticker and I think the Carb certification is on the JBA badge that you can see on the header attached with rivets. I passed the smog test with them without problems in CA even though I had a 2004-3.9L and they are not carb legal for the 3.9L.

Worth the price? Are these headers worth the additional (nearly 2X) cost as compared to the BBK headers? Hard to tell from images, but the welds look to be more thorough as well.

  • These headers are totally worth it. Combined with the SR Black Cold Air Intake, these headers give the Mustang a nice growl and wayyyyy meaner throttle response. Not to mention the power increase. However, should you buy these, consider buying the Heat Wraps for them, as well as Ceramic Coating Heat-proof Paint (found at O'Reilly's and Autozone), as these babies really heat up. The installation takes a solid day or so, but so worth it! Hope my feedback helped!

These shorty's go a long way!

I recently had these headers installed, along with the SR Black Cold Air Intake, as part of my Mustang modification project. Right, away, I could feel an increase in throttle response, horsepower, and overall performance. It took my mechanic a solid day to finish the job, and we ran into the (in)famous oil dipstick problem. My mechanic resolved this by cutting a part of the oil dipstick tube. This problem was never mentioned in any of the instructions. My guess is that these headers were designed for a special kind of dipstick. Overall, these are solid, well-made headers that will open up your 'Stang! I highly recommend that they are purchased along with Heat Wraps and Ceramic Paint (this can be purchased at Autozone or O'Reilly's). Hot product!

    Look Great, Sound Great

Installed these headers to eliminate the infamous Ford exhaust tick when cold. The hardware included is good quality, they included plenty of extra bolts and lock-washers, however they provided only 2 large washers when 4 were required. They do fit quite well, the only installation complaints are aimed at Ford and not at JBA. For instance, the engine oil dipstick tube will make your life difficult, and reinstalling the dipstick with the header is a two person job, one underneath and one up top. Tightening the lower EGR nut is also tricky without the proper tools. They do sound great, and help engine response in the lower RPM range.

    Great Upgrade!

I got these headers along with the MAC Dual Exhaust Converstion Kit and I have a great setup!! I got rid of that exhaust leak and gained a meaner roar and better take off when I accelerate. There were problems with relocating the oil dipstick, but other than that easy day!

The JBA headers are a great addition to any V6 mustang.

I bought these headers to get rid of that annoying exhaust leak that many 99-04 mustangs develop at the manifold. They got rid of the leak, and the exhaust gaskets provided are great. I did run into a couple problems with the installation however. Since these headers are one solid flange, rather than the individual flange for each header port, I ran into fitment on the driver's side with the dipstick tube. Advice tho those who do purchase these headers, remove the dipstick tube, put the new header on, but let it hang from the studs by threading the bolt only enough to catch. Then, put the dipstick back in place and tighten the header. On the passenger side removal of the stock header is a little tricky with the EGR tube. Just remove the EGR tube from under the EGR valve, and remove the header and tube together. Then remove the EGR tube from the header. I recommend using anti-seize on the threads of the tube when putting it onto the new header. Other than those fitment issues, these headers are great. They definitely stopped the leak and my car has never sounded better.

These headers are perfect, all hardware is supplied and information is accurate. The performance is great they definitely give the mustang a deeper growl and more low end power. Great addition to the 2000 mustangs whose headers are not the best. A must buy for all mustang owners that want performance.

    Good addition

These headers together with the free for life Bama tune from AM are really a good addition/replacement for your car. I took these because they are CA legal and my headers were cracked. Installation was intensive but not too difficult if you are organized and have the proper tools and I did it alone. The only problem I had was the dipstick tube but this problem is inherent to the tube not to the headers (this tube is sh@*). My car now runs smoothly, rpms don't collapse midrange when I change gear. It was worth the effort and saving the $ 700 mechanics requested to do the job. It took me about 12 hours to install.

    Good HP Gains

It took about 3 hours to install both of them. I ran into the oil dipstick problem but I just cut a gap in the header so the dipstick will fit through it. Getting the EGR tube on the right hand side is tough though, once off its all easy. Noticed the difference in HP right away. It has a stronger kick and improved Throttle Response.

    jba v6 shorty headers

great headers. but be prepared to run into fitment problems with your dipstick and having to relocate. other than that... direct fit and no problems with the actual headers being installed.

    JBA headers

I recommend these headers over bbk anytime. They give your car a way meaner roar, especially with pypes true dual. installation will take a good few hours. Running into problems was frequent. But once finished i am very pleased.
