Hey guys, Adam here with americanmuscle.com. Today we're taking a look at and installing the JLT V3 oil separator for the driver side of all '11 to '17 GTs, '12 to '13 Boss 302s and '15 to '17 GT350s. You might be looking for an oil separator that'll stop engine sludge from hindering and bogging down your engine's performance while also reducing blow-by. If you're not familiar with what blow-by is, it's essentially crankcase exhaust gases making it to way back into the manifold bogging down your engine or even your supercharger if you've got some forced induction setups going on. Now this particular one is the V3, so it is an upgrade from the previous JLT versions. This one has a three ounce capacity which is almost double its previous versions. It's also CNC machined from a solid block of black billet aluminum. And as you can see, it's got a knurled texture on the bottom. So when you're doing that routine maintenance, you get a little grip on the catch can. It's got an easy unscrewable motion here to get that catch can off. Now we're upgrading from the Ford Motorcraft pre-filter to a half-inch thick one-sixteenths aluminum honeycomb filter, which is gonna help filter out those smaller vapor oils from slugging down your engine. Now, this is again gonna be a huge upgrade in the way of performance. It's really got a bunch of pros and virtually no cons. It's gonna help you slow down and reduce all that engine sludge from bogging down your motor and hindering your performance while also just being one of those really inexpensive mods coming in right around 180 bucks. The install for this is gonna be extremely simple, one out of three wrenches on our difficulty meter. Now we're gonna show you guys how to do this. So let's pop the hood open and get to it. All you need as far as tools is a Philips head screwdriver, a ratchet, and a 10 millimeter socket. All right. So installing our JLT oil separator is really as simple as removing this PCV hose here which is simple disconnects with hands, no hand tools required. The actual oil separator is gonna mount down here next to your strut tower. Now, we've got brackets to get this installed under this clip here which I'll show you in just a second. First off, we have to remove this hose, and that's where these hoses are gonna plug into. So, what we're gonna do is we're gonna pinch the one off of our intake tube, then we're gonna pinch the clip holding the other end to the valve cover. All right. For the intake tube side, all we have to do is squeeze our hand under here, pinch the gray tab back, and pull the hose off of the tubing. For the opposite side here, we're gonna push down on the gray tab and pull backward on our hose. Now you might have to rotate it to get access to that gray tab. But once you do rotate it, pinch and pull off. For the JLT oil separator here, we're gonna use our longer hose of the two to go straight back over to our intake tube. We're gonna bend that longer tube back over to our intake tube and just click it into the stock location. For the opposite side, we're gonna take the shorter hose and attach it to the valve cover. We can push down our hoses to get the JLT oil separator where we want it. This is about where it's gonna mount. So let's attach the brackets. So in order to mount our oil separator to our strut tower here, we're gonna use this clamp bracket. The clamp bracket is gonna go right around this extremity piece here. Now we're gonna use our 10 millimeter socket and ratchet to tighten up the bolt head from the bottom to get it to clamp on. Next up we're gonna attach the JLT extension bracket to that clamp here. Now, there's two holes. There's a larger hole and a smaller one. The smaller one is actually pre-threaded, which we're gonna bolt down our 10 millimeter to. So we're gonna take this bracket and bolt it down to that pre-threaded smaller hole. At this point, you can make the adjustments as necessary to mount it where you need to. I'm gonna put it right about there, looks like a good spot for it. All right. So at this point, we're gonna rotate our JLT oil separator to match the pre-drilled holes in the cap here with the bracket. A Phillips head screw supplied in the kit here that we're gonna use to bolt this down to our bracket. There's also another alternative for installing this. Now, if you're not really interested in going the clamp bracket route like we did, which is an impermanent solution, you can go to the more permanent route and actually drill into the same mounting location on your strut tower. Now, there's a nut provided in the kit for you. You can bypass that whole clamp and just use this bracket directly. Drill it into your strut tower extension and use this nut on the other side to tighten it down. That would be a little more secure, a little more permanent, whereas the clamp lets you remove it at any point. So that's gonna wrap up my review and install of the JLT V3 oil separator for the driver side of all '11 of '17 GTs, '12 to '13 Boss 302s, and finally '15 to '17 Shelby GT350s. This particular oil separator is finished in black, but there's also an aluminized option as well, both of which you can find at americanmuscle.com.
