So the matte black tail light conversion kit that we're working with here today is going to be a great and affordable option for any '05 through '09 Mustang owner that's looking to give their rear end a dose of customization and modernization. As well as pulling some of the looks off of the 2013 and 2014 Mustang. But before I get ahead of myself, I do want to let you know that decals or any type of tint are not going to install that difficultly. You should expect to be spending about 30 minutes to an hour, and a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. But something I really like about tint or decals, for that matter, is that down the road, if you're looking to save up to get into a new set of tail lights, this is not a permanent modification in the slightest. In the event that you are going to pick up a new set of tail lights, you simply peel them off and throw them away. But like most, if not all of the decals and/or tint pieces that come out of American Muscle, we design, print, and test repeatedly all of our own product on our fleet of Mustangs, to ensure that you're going to have the best fit possible. Taking a closer look at the material itself, we predominantly use a 4-mil cast-style wrap. Now, that's going to be that much more durable than a calendared style of vinyl. A couple cool features that I really like about this. First and foremost, up top, this is going to have a clear coat, protective layer, which is essentially there to make sure that this isn't going to deteriorate when it's exposed to the elements. Then, on the adhesive side, it's going to feature something called an "Air Release Technology." Now, what that essentially means is that when it comes time to install these, they're not going to fight you like you might have found with older styles of vinyl. It's going to work on very easily, and I'm going to show you how coming up soon. But piggybacking onto the installation, just like I had said earlier, this is only going to warrant a very easy one out of three wrenches on the difficulty meter. You should only expect to be spending about 30 minutes to an hour to get these onto your Mustang. Now, looking ahead, some things that I would make sure to have on hand before you install these will be the supplied squeegee, a couple microfibers. That's mainly going to be just to remove any type of grease, wax, or dirt or grime picked up from the roads, just to wipe off your tail lights before you throw these on. Then, a small water bottle with just a little bit of soap inside. So to begin, what you're going to want to do is take that microfiber that I just mentioned earlier, give your tail lights a nice, liberal cleaning, just to make sure that when it comes time to put these down, that adhesive is going to cure perfectly. Now, up next, what you're going to want to do is take that water bottle with the small amount of soap mixture, and then you're going to want to lightly mist the back of your tail lights. You don't need these to be soaking wet. So once you have that mixture of soap and water misted onto your tail lights, it's merely putting these onto them themselves, working out that moisture and air, letting them sit for a little bit of while, and that's it. So I'm Alex, and that's my quick review and breakdown of the matte black tail light conversion kit, fitting all 2005 through 2009 Mustangs, which can be found right here at americanmuscle.com.

Would this look good underneath tail light tint? I am looking to smoke out my lights as well-would this product look good underneath the tail light tint and LED's?
That will be alot of stickers going on in one spot, but it will still give it that look and the LED parts will just be dimmer looking with the tint over top.
I would recommend that you Tint the lens BEFORE installing this decal. You'll want to take precaustions to protect your tint film surface to install the decal. Typically decal installtion requires a plastic squegee (included with most decal kits from AM.com) at a minimum to remove trapped air bubbles from behind the vinyl to get a good install. This could scratch your tint film if your not careful. Also, Heat guns are used to remove tint film from glass and old decals. I would be very careful about using a heat gun if you aren't familliar with tint and decals. A local window tint shop should be able to install these parts if you're unsure. It's not as bad as I am sure it sounds, but you do need to be careful to make sure your install comes out like you want it to. Be sure not to go too dark on the tint, and make sure tinted tails are legal in your area. Should be no problems with the decals. Hope this helps.
My 07 Mustang has the Chrome Tail Light Trim (Item 52000) already installed. Can I install the TAIL LIGHT CONVERSION DECAL KIT without removing (and then replacing) the Chrome Tail Light Trim??? I really like the look of the Chrome Tail Light Trim. The brake light is also trimmed with the chrome mod. Thank you in advance............
The Tail Light Conversion Decal Kit - Matte Black (05-09 All) can definitely be installed with the tail light trim, and the product page even recommends it as a good pairing! You can find the MMD Tail Light Trim - Chrome (05-09 All) (Item #71321-88) here:
Trim This should work with the non MMD tail light trim correct? Just wanting to double check. Thank you! Also just a little side comment, im very happy to see you guys finally put out a vinyal of these replica lights. Ive been hoping for this for a long time now sense the raxiom replacement lights are way out of my price range.
Yes, it will work
Should work just fine Tyler, the product is really just flat on the lights part. The trim around the lights, the little dented gap where you would put the trim on isn't covered by the product although it looks like it is in the pictures. If you are up close at an angle, you notice that the decals do not cover the entire outline of the tail lights.
