Will it fit if you have the SR Performance Aluminum Radiator - Manual (97-04 GT, Mach 1; 97-01 Cobra)

        • This Mishimoto High Flow 14 in. Fan w/ Aluminum Shroud will work with radiators that utilize the stock mounting locations for 1997-2004 4.6 GT Mustangs. The SR Performance Aluminum Radiator, item 100525, utilizes the stock mounting holes, so these two items are indeed compatible.

Does this plug in to the existing stock plug on the wiring harness? I am looking for a stock replacement fan that I do not have to cut and splice wires

        • This is not a plug n play fan. You will need to wire a plug up for it to work with the factory harness.

            Looks awesome but.....

First, if you just want to have an ama i gotta looking engine bay and maybe if you have no condensing core in front of it, then this is the one for you. But... If you live in an area that averages anything above 70 degrees yearly, this fan will not, I repeat, WILL NOT!! Cool off your car. I have a 97 with brand new crate 4.6 all stock except a couple bolt on’s headers, intake... and this fan paired with the mishimoto aluminum radiator climbs up to and beyond 230. The fan only moves 1400cfm?!! The Stock fan moves 1900 on low! Needless to say, I’m not happy with this, nor do I think MP will do anything to make good on this. I’m just stuck wondering what they were thinking in peddling this clearly underpowered setup to mustang owners. It’s barely enough for a four cylinder engine. My resolution was to take it off and use a couple cheap-o fans from eBay. Sucks but I gotta protect my investment in my motor.

The fan needs to be bigger

The fan installed quite easily just needed to give it a little oomph by the abs module. The wiring could be simplified with an instruction manual that did not come in the box? The biggest thing that irked me though was the fan is rated at about 1400 cfm, the stock fans low speed is 2000 cfm, i didnt catch this until after i bought the new fan. The description even said it would cool the motor better than the stock fan.... how with a lower cfm and a smaller fan? The fans design is smart but the power the fan produces is no where near enough to keep the engine cool while idling.

            radiator fan

this fan was suppose to be more powerful than my stock gt fan. I put a new 4 core radiator and thought this fan would take care of the cooling system and did not. So I put back my stock radiator fan and it is doing a much better job

Looks good on the bay and easy to install. Runs 10-15 hotter.

            Blocks off too much air.

Installed this part on an SN95 race car (stock 4.6L) in an effort to gain more cooling. Placed it behind an aluminum radiator in place of the open stock fan which was keeping things fairly cool. After numerous laps and cool-downs at Watkins Glen, it was found to be holding heat. The fan was not strong enough to move the required air through the radiator at speed. We removed the aluminum cover and fan and the temp went back to 190 degrees. Car was cooler without the fan and shroud...even when at idle.

            Never got it right

I purchased this Mishimoto fan shroud when I purchased my Mishimoto radiator. You would think that being from the same manufacturer that they would fit together, well not in my case. The fan shroud mounts did not line up at all, they were off by almost 3/4". I contacted AM and they said Mishimoto requests are issues go through them. I contacted Mishimoto and after several weeks of emails, they sent me a replacement fan shroud. The new fan shroud did not fit either. It had the same issues with the mounting brackets. Not only that but they had installed the fan onto the shroud upside down so the wiring was coming out on the drivers side instead of the passenger side. I contacted Mishmoto again and after almost 3 weeks of emails and phone calls, me sending them numerous measurements from my factory fan, radiator, their fan and radiator they determined that the radiator they sent me was not made correctly. I found this hard to believe as the factory fan bolted right to it. I let Mishimoto send me a new radiator. When I got it, surprise the fan did not fit it either. After a few more weeks of emails and pictures I decided to return both fan shrouds and one radiator to Mishimoto as I did not feel they could properly fix the issue. After 2 and a half months of issues I ended up losing the $200 I paid for the fan shroud, plus the money to buy a replacement factory fan. No one at Mishimoto could tell me what the problem was and they did not offer a refund or correction any kind. I do not recommend anyone spending their money on any of the Mishimoto products and hope AM would reconsider dealing with them.

            Great product

This is a great product because it gives the engine bay a much cleaner look than the stock fan. It keeps my car very cool as well. I had to modify my abs module because it wouldn't quite slide in the tight spot. But bolting the shroud/ fan to the radiator and wiring it up only took 30 mins. Thanks AM!

            Good Fan

Was easy to change out except there were no directions on how to hook up the two cables from the fan. After calling the help desk they guided me through the process. My original fan had a plug with three prongs. Oh, also my original shroud had a place for a sensor and this one did not. Overall, great fan that is not too loud. (just loud enough that I can tell that it is working)

            Heat Wave

I bought this fan because my old one had warped and threw the bearings out of the motor. This caused my motor to overheat badly. Took about 2.5 hours to do a total install. The passenger side was hard to get in due to the tightness of the spot but other than that, it was a breeze. This fan may be small compared to the size of the original, but do not let that fool you! This fan pulls so much air you can see the hot air waves coming from the sides of the hood on hot days. It is very powerful, quiet, and stable. Defiantly recommend this fan to anyone over heating. I would by again and again.

This fan sucks and is a huge waste of money. The stock fan blows harder and stronger then the mishimoto one. My car has overheated more then ever once i installed this fan. Spare yourself the trouble and buy a different fan.

            Mishimoto fan

If you get the fan be sure to get shroud! I bought fan and 3 core radiator for 03 CObra and didnt know it had to have shroud? It will NOT cool your car without it! American Muscle will not just sell the shroud alone, though they will sell you the fan alone? So i have to buy another fan just to get shroud? Ill do further purchases else where..

            Great unit!

My car has been overheating, so I decided to replace my radiator and my fan. I used a 04 Cobra radiator and the fan fit flawlessly over it. You can barely tell the unit is running, but you can feel the air moving with the hood up. Would recommend this unit for sure!

            Great for my 99 Cobra

This by far is a great fan upgrade from the stock OEM fan in price and quality. The only thing is that my 99 cobra and I'm sure all other 99 & 01's will require a little modification to move the ABS brake system about 2 to 4 inches back towards the engine that's mounted to the passenger side engine bay wall. This will have to be done especially if you also get the Mishimoto radiator.
