By installing this racing thermostat, your high engine temperatures will be significantly reduced, which will help to prevent overheating and potential engine damage in modified and forced induction applications.

    More Power. Opening at a lower temperature over stock, this Mishimoto Performance Racing Thermostat ultimately aids in producing more power for your Pony. It will open at 160 °F, compared to the standard OEM factory thermostat at 180 °F, and will allow coolant to flow through the engine block sooner. This will reduce and maintain cooler engine temperatures and therefore, produce more power.

    Application. This Mishimoto 160 Degree Racing Thermostat is specifically designed for use on 2011 to 2019 Mustangs equipped with either the 3.7L V6 or 5.0L V8 engine, including the V6, GT and BOSS models.

    Would this product actually be harmful in below freezing temperatures?

    • This is not recommended unless the car is purposely built to be a race car or where the climate gets to over 100 degrees very often. Places like the Northeast, Great Lakes, Rocky Mountains; etc where the temps fluctuate from season to season, this is not going to work for your car. The stock one will work just fine.

    Will this fit a 2010 mustang 4.0 v6?

    • This item will not be able to fit the 4.0L Mustang V6's. This item can only fit the 2.7L EcoBoost, 3.7L V6, & the 5.0L Coyote model Mustangs made between 2011-2017.

    Do you guys Recommend using this Mishimoto Performance Racing Thermostat - 160 Degree in a freezing areas such as Ohio, Cleveland?

    • If your Mustang is driven in the colder weather, such as 30 degrees Fahrenheit or lower, you may have difficulties warming up your Mustang all the way with the Mishimoto Performance Racing Thermostat. If this is only driven in warmer temperatures, and you need further help staying cool, this thermostat would certainly help. If your Mustang needs help staying cool, but is still driven in those very cold conditions, would would recommend the addition of a fan, or replacement of the fan with a unit that can flow more CFM. If problems still persist, a larger radiator would be recommended.

    Will I need a tune after installing this thermostat? I do not have a tuner and do not want to purchase one just yet will it be fine to install this piece with out a tune?

    • The Mishimoto Performance Racing Thermostat will not require a tune for proper use. You may install this thermostat and drive as-is.

      Mishimoto performance racing thermostat 160 degree

      Easy install took about 10-15 to locate,install and re add fluid. I will say to save you from buying new coolant unplug the main hose from your coolant tank. But now my head temps peak at 196*F with outside temperatures in the 100’s rather then the 212*F stock I totally recommend this product.

      Great product

      Easy to install just be aware you’ll spill some coolant but right after I installed it I noticed the difference in temperature, my car doesn’t heat up so quickly anymore it’s stays a smidge away from half mark of the temperature.

      Mishimoto thermostat

      Works great for my boost setup! Gasket was to small as expected from other reviews, just use your stock one as it works just fine. This thermostat is keeping my coolant 18-25 degrees cooler on average than stock.

      Gasket sucks

      Easy to install but I cleaned up the OEM gasket and used that. The included gasket is warped, too small, and cheap in quality.

      O-no-ring

      O ring in this kit is total garbage. Smaller than the original and causes a leak from the bottom. Did read on here that someone else said the O ring installed after the thermostat will work, but I still got the same old leak after trying six times. As of now, it will sit and wait for me to get the patience another day. What should be an incredible simple job is a total mess.

      Love it

      I love it car runs cooler when it's around 70 out side the needle is only about a quarter up from the cold line and stays like that while cruiseing until the weather warms up anyways

      Cooler Temps

      I daily drive my 2015 Mustang in Texas and consistently will average about 210 degree cylinder head temperatures. After replacing the thermostat with the Mishimoto 160 performance part, the cylinder head temperatures have dropped significantly. I am now averaging about 185 degree with ambient temperatures of 92. A cylinder head difference of 25 degrees means a lot and the car runs great. Mishimoto is an exact fit and is an easy 15 minute install I highly recommend this product. While I cant feel a huge performance gain I know that the car running that much cooler certainly does not hurt! I will post a few pictures so everyone can see how closely the Mishimoto thermostat resembles the Ford product for exact fitment with no leaks.

      Car is running 185° F smoothly

      Well the thermostat itself is working great. Car was running around 213° in Texas with temps from 77° - 95°. Now it is a steady 185° at highway speeds. Only issue is with Ford. When you change the thermostat make sure that the new thermostat goes in before the O-Ring. I opened the housing and the stock thermostat fell out with the O-Ring. Well at this point I looked at the diagram that Ford has out and it has the O-Ring before the thermostat. This is completely backwards. Other than that, a tune that changes at what temp the fans come on is preferred. I did exhaust, intake, and tune all together with the thermostat.
