      • Higher Coil Output for More Power
      • Provides Stronger Longer Spark
      • Designed for Factory and MSD Distributors
      • Fits 1986 to 1993 5.0L V8 Mustangs

High Output; More Power. The MSD TFI Ignition Control Module provides a higher coil output than that of a stock unit for quicker starts, better throttle response, and more low-end power.

Stronger Longer Spark. MSD TFI Control Modules have more electronic dwell than the factory control module, to provide the coil with additional saturation time that results in a longer more intense spark for complete combustion and more power.

Application. This MSD TFI Control Module is designed for use on 1986 to 1993 5.0L V8 Mustangs, including the LX 5.0, GT and SVT Cobra models with either the factory distributor or a MSD Distributor.

4 1991 LX - Newby Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Easy fix

Got the timing set , finally. An updated TFI module really does matter in a rough idle, better throttle response, and even power. Glad i took a few minutes to replace this. Happy with the MSD not sure yet if it matters in brand just matched up the distributor.

1 1988 GT - ThomasF Installation Time: Full Day

        Much more than involved

This sounds like a great piece, but buyer beware. For certain models, such as my '88 5.0L you have to completely remove the distributor to remove stock TFI module and replace with this one. Then you have the headache of re-timing your distributor.

5 1991 LX - DonaldH Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        TFI Module

Bolted right up to the distributor unless than 10 minutes and seemed to really help with my idle issue. One note: the tool you can buy to release the old module didnt work for my vehicle. Ended up up picking up a 5.5mm deep socket and worked great. Just something to think about if you run into that issue like I did. Thanks AM!

5 1990 LX - RichardA Installation Time: Less than 1 Hour

        Fixed my misfire handily

I had a misfire when under load such as climbing hills, especially in hot weather. I replaced air temperature sensor and lowered the water thermostat set point, to no avail. Finally, I learned from the Mustang forums about this module. I wasn't experiencing the most frequently mentioned issue, no spark at all, but replaced it as a last resort. It worked, and after several months I still marvel at the smooth ignition.

        massive improvement

Cheap investment and easy to install, I noticed a little bit of a power difference but combined with other components/modifications you will see a big difference

Direct fit design. Comes with installation grease. Plug and play and works with either manual or automatic. Noticed ignition response and car came alive. Motorcraft is known for failing so this was a perfect upgrade.
