Will this work on a fully stocked 2004 Mach 1 automatic?

    al

    • These Stage III XE-R camshafts will require computer modifications, a larger throttle body, mass air, injectors, exhaust upgrades, lower gears, and Comp Cams Valve Springs to work properly in a Nitrous or Supercharged DOHC 4.6/5.4 V8. With an automatic transmission it will require a 2500 stall. Unfortunately, this product will not work with a completely stock Mustang.

Understanding these are designed for supercharger or nitrous use, nitrous isn't used constantly like a supercharger. How do these effect driveability when not spraying?

    Andrew

    • The car may idle extremely low as if it was going to die. The needed oxygen that the supercharger and nitrous supply help keep the car on with this aggressive cams. You shouldn't have to many issues when you aren't running nitrous. I would just be aware of idling and low speeds.

What about camshafts for us 01 cobra and mach 1 owners without a supercharger or NOS?

    DaleJ

    • At this time we would only have camshafts for boosted applications for the 4v models.

Theoretically speaking, could these be used on a mach? I do understand they're for nitrous/supercharged engines, but I'm trying to decide between these or the 106400's. Thank you

    MatthewH

    • The Comp Cams XE-R Supercharged/Nitrous Stage III Camshafts can be used on a Mach 1, however without a supercharger or nitrous, performance would not be ideal.

If I would to buy these cams for my 03 cobra, would I have to buy the suggested valves springs and retainers that you guys offer with it as well, or am I ok to use the stock valves springs and retainers that my 4.6 Dohc has? Thanks

    BlackMamba

    • The Comp Cams XE-R Supercharged/Nitrous Stage III Camshafts do require the use of the Comp Cams Valve Springs and Retainers.

Is there any sort of piston-to-valve clearance concerns with these with stock pistons? Is the clearance >0.050"?

    RickM

    • Unfortunately we do not have the clearance specifications for these Comp Cams XE-R Supercharged/Nitrous Stage III Camshafts, however, they should fit without any PTV issues. We still always recommend checking clearances.

      2004 cobra 106460 comp cams

I purchased and installed the comp XE-R supercharged cams and I'm very satisfied with them. They produced awesome power gains from bottom and top of rpm range, awesome sound and are well worth the price and time to put them in. Highly recommended :)
