      Description

      Performance Bolt‑In Rear Housing. The HD 9‑Inch Ford Axle Housing with Upper Mounts bolts directly into 1979–2004 Mustangs, delivering serious strength for high‑power builds. It replaces the weaker 8.8-inch housing with a rugged 9-inch platform, ideal for withstanding higher torque and abuse.

      Construction and Appearance. Built from .141-Inch mild‑steel center section with a .282-Inch faceplate and thick DOM 1026 tubing (3.25-inch OD, .250-inch wall), the housing features internal gussets and welded tube‑to‑tube seams. The extended cover clears 9-inch and 9 1/2-Inch gearsets, and the overall finish is shop‑ready bare weldable steel.

      Installation. Installation requires regular mechanical skills—jig‑welded alignment ensures accuracy. Drilling is not needed, but welding is required to fuse housing ends and axle tubes; upper mounts are preinstalled, but lower arms and housing ends must be added separately.
